Around 250 fans of those invited attended a 'meet and greet' session with some of the club's top brass in the Stan Cullis Stand's WV1 Bar last night.

The relaxed session, which was held over four hours to allow people to call in on their way home from work, featured a video presentation of the £7m Compton training ground expansion and the chance to talk with, among others, chief executive Jez Moxey and head of football development Kevin Thelwell.

As a result of the promotion, where fans could also have a pint and watch the World Cup as well as have their picture taken with the League One trophy and be shown around Molineux, numerous fans signed up for season tickets, and sales are now approaching 13,000.

Head of media Matt Grayson said: "We have this goal of 14,500 season ticket holders for next season and we're getting close to the 13,000 figure now, and this was part of our drive to get as many fans as possible to attend every home game at Molineux.

"We invited some supporters we know from our database had attended eight or more games last season but weren't season ticket holders.

"First and foremost it was an opportunity for them to come here in a relaxed environment and meet senior staff such as Jez.

"We invited them to have the chance to look at the seating plan and have a chat with people such as Jez, Kevin, Richard Skirrow (secretary) and Lynne O'Reardon (ticketing manager) and over 250 of them attended.

"We held it from 5-9pm so people could drop in whenever it was convenient and they could have a drink, have a look around Molineux and we opened the museum as well.

"We were available to discuss seating arrangements and talk about the club and football in general.

"It was all about engaging with the fans face to face and talking with them to see how they feel about the club and how we can fit their needs.

"We have lots of plans to try to encourage more season ticket holders and we want to treat supporters like individuals.

"Sometimes it's easier to chat through the various options face to face rather than to just send marketing material through the post.

"And it was nice to see a few families involved too.

"By chatting to us, they could see which is the best ticketing option for them.

"They can buy a season ticket for £370 behind the goal, and if they do that then it's usually more beneficial to them rather than pay for eight home games, and they can have the benefit of free membership as well."
