Dave Edwards today signed a new contract at Wolves and insisted: "You'd be mad not to be part of this club".

The 28-year-old midfielder has committed his future for the next two years which will extend his stay to eight-and-a-half years at Molineux.

Edwards has won two promotions and suffered two relegations in his rollercoaster time at Molineux.

But he insists he wouldn't want to be anywhere else after pledging what he hopes will be the best years of his career.

"I'm really delighted to know my future lies at Molineux," said the former Shrewsbury midfielder.

"The club is going in the right direction and had such a positive season with everything and you'd be mad to not to want to be a part of it with everything happening at the moment.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time and especially now with the way the club is going – it's great to be a part of it and hopefully we can ride this crest of the wave for another good season.

"If Wolves were going to give me a contract which I was pleased with there was never any other place I wanted to be.

"I can only see it heading in one direction now and people coming into the club will surely see everything going on as a massive plus and want to be a part of it."

Edwards claimed last season, when he scored nine goals in 22 starts to help Wolves to the League One title, made him fall in love with football again after the pain of successive relegations.

"Last season has really rekindled my love of the game," he said.

"It's been a privilege to play for this club and last season was one of the most enjoyable which hopefully I can continue next year.

"It always helps if you stay fit - which I managed to do - and hopefully I can have a good, strong season as well.

"It's a great time to be involved here. I really hope we can carry this momentum forward, keep pushing on and have another great year."

The Edwards announcement means Richard Stearman is the only player still to commit his future to Wolves' cause, but he is expected to reach agreement in the next week or so.
