An epic Crystal Palace clear-out today triggered speculation that Wolves will be among the clubs scavenging for the pick of the released players.

Left-back Dean Moxey is thought to have joined head coach Kenny Jackett's list of potential recruits this summer.

Palace's safe first season back in the Premier League has seen boss Tony Pulis release a dozen players with the 28-year-old defender among them.

Wolves have need of a specialist left-back as both cover and a rival for first-choice Scott Golbourne and Jackett is believed to have registered a past interest in Moxey.

Both Leeds and Bolton have tried to sign Moxey in the past 12 months and have already been linked with interest again

Moxey is heavily experienced in Championship football and will fit the bill for Wolves as they strengthen for their return to the second tier.

Wolves have so far lodged a formal bid for Sheffield United favourite Harry Maguire, the 21-year-old central defender, and made an offer for Peterborough's former skipper Tommy Rowe.

But up front is also a key area with Jackett's past connections triggering speculation that he will bid for Leicester City's former Albion striker Chris Wood, who he once took to Millwall.

Jackett will be looking to see how young strikers Liam McAlinden and Jake Cassidy fare in pre-season training before deciding on his plans for the forwards.

But he acknowledges it is the most expensive area of recruitment.

He says: "Scouting-wise, there's a different market for centre forwards than the rest - because of cost and profile, they are hard to get.

"So to have too many is generally a good thing."
