Kenny Jackett urges Wolves to seal points for promotion

Kenny Jackett today urged Wolves for six of the best as he focused on one final push to get them over the line.

Last night's breathless 0-0 draw at Stevenage moved Wolves to within a maximum 10 points of automatic promotion with six games left.

The draw extended their lead to 11 points over third-placed Leyton Orient from the same games played, but Rotherham have a match in hand, next Tuesday at Sheffield United.

Wolves' eighth of a gruelling nine-match run in 28 days came at a cost after James Henry was forced off with a groin injury that looks certain to cost him a place for Saturday's visit of Peterborough.

And head coach Jackett insisted his players can't allow all their hard work to be compromised now.

"To get the amount of points we've got so far has been very good," said the boss.

"The position is very good, and in the last half a dozen games now we need to gather all our energy and make sure we focus and capitalise on the good position we're in.

"We've worked very hard this season to get into this position.

"In terms of our performance we want to get our full energy and sparkle back for Saturday to do well against Peterborough.

"We've known we've needed that high points total all season and it certainly hasn't been easy.

"Last night was a very good example of that."

Leon Clarke wasted two excellent chances, while substitute Lee Evans was denied by a fine save from Chris Day 10 minutes from time.

Jackett admitted his side lacked a finishing touch in front of goal.

"Perhaps the only criticism was the finishing and that was the difference as one goal might have opened it up," he said.

"Lee Evans had a couple of chances - he did really well from Kevin McDonald's pullback and the second one was a volley.

"He's a good attacking midfield player who can get opportunities.

"The keeper also made a good save from Nouha Dicko and from Leon Clarke and they were the big chances in the second half when it was our best period.

"Stevenage had a very high motivation and energy level and we just couldn't find that goal in the second half."
