Captain Sam Ricketts today hailed Wolves' "fantastic" following – claiming they make every away game feel like a cup final.

The skipper says players are relishing the prospect of playing in front of 8,800 travelling fans at MK Dons tomorrow.

But Ricketts says the vocal support of travelling fans has been a key factor throughout the season.

"For us it is brilliant to go away from home and have a following like that," he said

"It makes for a really good atmosphere in the game. We know we've got that support and the fans can take us through certain sections of the match if need be with the singing and the atmosphere they bring.

"It makes for a great day and tomorrow will probably lift the home players and fans as well in terms of being their biggest crowd of the season.

"We have had to cope with that a lot this season and our fantastic following makes every game we go to feel like a cup final.

"It will be the same on Saturday but we have responded well in those situations."

Ricketts claims the game at Preston – on the first day of the season – had the effect of unifying the fans and team after the club had suffered successive relegations.

He said: "It brought everyone together and reminded everyone why this club is so special – because of all the fans."
