Kenny Jackett today warned his title hopefuls against complacency after the Molineux outfit took another giant stride towards promotion.

Wolves finally overcame Colchester with a 4-2 win but it was not an easy ride after United came back from 3-0 down to almost level when Freddie Sears hit the post late on.

Nouha Dicko's injury-time goal finally settled the nerves among the majority of the 17,000-strong Molineux crowd but, despite results going in his side's favour, boss Jackett carried a cautious tone.

"We were looking to coast at 3-0 and we shouldn't because it's hard to turn it on and off like a tap," he said.

"We have to learn from where we've been because that's happened to us a few times. Some of it's tactical, but it's hard to produce that level of performance all the way through.

"At other times, perhaps we shouldn't be so expansive – maybe in future we need to have a look at it and with my substitutes perhaps load it up and change the system so we don't concede.

"We're not happy, but there were a lot of positives from the game. And results went for us when we have a lot of pressure games for a side at the top."

It had seemed plain sailing for the hosts following first-half goals from Michael Jacobs, Dave Edwards and James Henry, only for the Us to hit back through Alex Gilbey and David Wright.

In the end an 11th victory in 13 games for Jackett's men, allied to Brentford's 3-0 defeat at Rotherham and Leyton Orient's 1-1 home draw with Oldham, left leaders Wolves seven points clear of the third-placed Os with a game in hand and guaranteed them a top-six spot with eight matches left.

"You have to put it all into context," added Jackett. "It was a fantastic performance and a great result in a pressure situation. Things weren't perfect but to play the quality football we did at times, the players should be commended."
