Kenny Jackett fuming as Wolves hit by FA fine

Wolves were today facing an FA fine after six bookings in Saturday's 2-0 win at Sheffield United as Kenny Jackett hinted they were a victim of 'big-club syndrome'.

An FA spokesman confirmed the club face a financial punishment after having more than five players cautioned in one game.

A decision is expected to be announced today on the amount of their fine.

Premier League referee Kevin Friend showed yellow cards to Matt Doherty, Danny Batth, Richard Stearman, Kevin McDonald, Lee Evans and substitute Jack Price at Bramall Lane.

Blades boss Nigel Clough claimed his side could have had two penalties after former Wolves defender Neill Collins appeared to be pushed over and Conor Coady ran into Batth.

Wolves head coach Jackett isn't one to criticise referees but felt his team were on the end of some harsh decisions from the Leicester official.

"There were a lot of key decisions and tight ones which went against us which can happen when you're an away side at a big club and one going as well as Sheffield United," said Jackett.

"A lot of decisions went against us around the halfway line and that's the way it is at away games.

"You know that's going to happen – you have to work hard at defending and it was a fantastic clean sheet. But to win there at this time is key for us."

Brentford's 3-1 comeback win against Coventry meant Wolves only have a one-point lead at the top with the Bees having a game in hand.

And Jackett hesitated when it was suggested his team showed the hallmark of champions.

"We'll see – one glance at the table says we still need to do a lot," he said.

"We have to get our minds on to Colchester tomorrow night very quickly."
