Wolves' promotion push was today reflected in a 14 per cent rise in Early Bird season ticket renewals.

A total of 10,308 supporters have bought their seats for next season, a rise of 1,272 on the figure this time last year.

That figure represents an 88 per cent renewal rate, with the Early Bird scheme open to 11,770 existing season ticket holders who eventually renewed for this season.

This is the second highest renewal percentage of the 13 years the Early Bird scheme has been run and comes after the price for a typical adult seat behind the goals dropped £25 to £320.

A total of 9,036 supporters renewed via Early Bird last year, when an 'extra time' window offer was open to all supporters.

Fans were given a £35 'sweetener' after relegation from the Premier League, and yet the renewal rate of 57 per cent was the lowest since the scheme was launched in 2002.

Further sales in the summer and then via the half season ticket scheme swelled the figure to 11,770 eligible for this year.

"I would like to thank all those who have renewed their tickets via the Early Bird scheme," said chief executive Jez Moxey.

"To reach an 88 per cent renewal rate is testament once again to the loyalty of our supporters and also their belief and optimism in the new direction of the team."

Moxey also praised the fans for giving the team a platform to flourish, free from the expectation of previous years – known as the 'Molineux factor'.

"The club can only be successful with the fans' support which has been tremendous so far this season, also in the manner of the vocal backing given to a young and developing team," he said.

"This has given them the opportunity and belief to play their football free from any added expectation or pressure.

"Kenny and the staff have done an excellent job building a new and fresh team, and from talking with supporters, we know fans are enjoying the season so far.

"There's still a very long way to go, but everyone connected with Wolves now has reason to be optimistic and excited about what lies ahead.

"The fans' support is being discussed among the players much of the time, and they want to reciprocate with good performances and plenty of wins."
