Wolves must get back on the horse against Crawley Town - Danny Batth

Danny Batth insists there must be no hangover from the end of his team's winning run as Wolves get straight back on the horse at Crawley tonight.

The popular central defender gave Molineux a glimpse of the future by captaining the team in Saturday's goalless draw against Shrewsbury.

It was a result which took a little of the impetus out of Wolves' barnstorming arrival at the top of League One but did nothing to quell the determination within Kenny Jackett's to complete the season's objective.

"There's no let-up and we're in a position where we have to move on, keep going, take the points if they're there for us, and make sure we finish the season on a high," said Batth.

"Promotion is the priority – it would be great to win the league and that's what we're all striving to do but however we go up, it will be a job well done.

"We've got to keep going – we haven't got time to think about it, we must recharge our batteries, get the energy levels back up and look at Crawley but most of all, it's about what we're doing.

"I don't know how many games we need to win – it's a case of winning the next one and not getting too carried away with everything else.

"We just have to win our games and let the rest scrap it out.

"Teams have paid us respect by setting up to sit in there and break up the play and slow things down, and it's up to us to come up with the answers. What we have to do at the back is make sure we concentrate and don't give them anything to hang on to.

"We had enough chances to have won the game on Saturday but we've got to stay positive for Crawley."

Former Villa manager John Gregory has made a good start at the west Sussex club but has been bedevilled by a pitch which has been unable to cope with this winter's furious storms.

As a result, Crawley are still four games behind the pack and face an even more demanding schedule than Wolves to the season's finish.

It's a schedule Gregory must tackle with a much smaller squad and Batth's point about energy levels carries extra significance. Wolves have the man-power to overcome to take full advantage of the first of their games in hand over third-placed Leyton Orient.

"They've got a lot of games coming up but they will relish playing Wolves," warned Batth. "It's a challenge for us to go there and make sure we're professional and solid to give ourselves a chance.

"They've got an experienced manager who's trying to build something but, for us, it's a case of remaining focused and making sure it's about us and how we can win the game."

However Crawley decide to play tonight the sense of occasion is building at League One's smallest club.

Assistant manager Guy Whittingham said: "It's one that we should really look forward to.

"I believe it will be a full house and these are the games that you're in football for, to take on the team who are the best in the league at the time and to prove we're not a bad little outfit ourselves."
