Kenny Jackett today urged his Wolves record-breakers to produce a sprint finish as he cranked up the pressure on them to continue winning.

Wolves aim for their 10th straight win when they host Shrewsbury tomorrow after the League One leaders became the first team in the club's 137-year history to win nine in a row with Tuesday's 4-1 triumph at Swindon.

But with the pace of the top five showing no signs of abating, head coach Jackett believes Wolves' victory juggernaut can't afford to halt.

"Congratulations to the players," said Jackett. "It's a terrific achievement which should be commended. But looking at the last dozen games, it's going to need that type of run again or near it to get one of the two promotion places.

"We haven't got the luxury of a 10-point gap, so we need a sprint finish. There should be pressure on the players and my message is we have to look forwards and not back. We can't slacken off and just expect to finish in the top two."

Making history has drawn comparisons with the last Wolves team to achieve the old record, in October and November 1988. Graham Turner's side won back-to-back promotions but Jackett said: "We haven't got one promotion yet, let alone two."

he said.

"We're still a long way off getting one, but to emulate the many great teams of the past here and write our own place in history is our aim.

"You draw inspiration from great sides of the past, great managers and great players.

"We know it can be done because it's been done here before."

Leyton Orient host Brentford tomorrow but Jackett believes Wolves' destiny lies firmly in their hands.

"It's our own form and good play that will shape our destiny," he added.

Jackett is looking for a vast improvement on the second-half performance at the County Ground however.

"We tried to coast it," he said. "We can certainly do better than the second-half and we shouldn't be frightened of saying it."

Captain and right-back Sam Ricketts is expected to shake off a slight thigh injury.
