Graham Turner today backed record-breaking boss Kenny Jackett to bring long-term success to Wolves – as he eyed a return to management.

Turner ends his two-month exile from the game after retiring as Shrewsbury boss when he returns to Molineux tomorrow for the derby between the clubs he brought most success to.

It will be the first game the 66-year-old has attended since quitting in January and he will be joined by members of the 1988 Wolves team whose club record of eight straight wins was broken on Tuesday night with the 4-1 success at Swindon.

And Turner reckons Jackett is the right man to emulate the sort of success he enjoyed at Wolves.

"Kenny's an experienced football manager and his record suggests he'll be there for a long time and he'll bring success to the club for quite some time," said Turner. "He has that calmness about him and a considered judgement, and you only have to look at his team to see what a talented manager he is.

"I'm sure he'll bring long-term success to Wolves."

Steve Bull, Andy Mutch, Andy Thompson and Robbie Dennison will be re-united with Turner at the game tomorrow and their former gaffer is keen to explore the possibility of returning to football.

"I've kept out of it so far," said Turner, who never got the chance to manage competitively in opposition at Molineux after leaving in March 1994.

"I'm not sure retired is the right word because if I felt I could do a job somewhere, I'd be interested.

"If I could be a mentor or something along those lines, that might be something I'd consider.

"The game is changing – because of all the pressure managers are becoming head coaches. More clubs are going down the route of having a director of football.

"I don't know whether that would suit me – we'll see how it unfolds – but I want to stay in the game."
