Wolves today rejected a bid from Celtic for top scorer Leigh Griffiths.

Chief executive Jez Moxey rebuffed the opening offer from the Hoops, which is understood to be around £250,000.

That is nowhere near what Wolves value their 13-goal leading marksman at, with the club believed to be seeking up to £1m for the 23-year-old Scotland international, who was the 28-goal top scorer in the SPL last season.

But further interest from the Parkhead giants is expected as the week goes on.

Head coach Kenny Jackett said this afternoon: "We've had a bid from Celtic and it's been rejected.

"I don't know how things develop but a bid has been made and I'm sure there will be further dialogue this week.

"I've spoken to Leigh and he's made public his fondness for Celtic which we understand but he's fully committed to Wolves until anything is accepted."

Jackett said Griffiths remains part of Wolves' plans for the time being and will be part of a 20-man party travelling to Oldham tomorrow night.
