Wolves boss Kenny Jackett was today weighing up a £1m move for sought-after Rochdale forward Scott Hogan.

Head coach Jackett watched 21-year-old Hogan in Rochdale's 3-0 win against Plymouth on Saturday amid talk that Sunderland are chasing the forward or winger.

Hogan appeared as a 66th minute substitute for George Donnelly at the weekend.

Boss Keith Hill benched him because he thought his head had been turned by the speculation surrounding him.

The player recently turned down a move to Peterborough after failing to agree personal terms when the clubs had settled on a fee rising to £1m with add-ons.

Hogan is understood to be seeking wages of £5,000-a-week, which is above Posh's budget but well within Wolves' means.

The youngster, who can play as a central striker or on either wing and is described as pacy and strong, has scored 12 goals in 28 games for League Two Dale this season, his breakthrough campaign.

Hogan was released by Rochdale in May 2011 after coming through their ranks and spent two years trawling the non-league circuit with Stockport Sports, FC Halifax Town, Stocksbridge Steels, Ashton United and Hyde, where he finished last season with three goals in 11 games.

Birmingham were rumoured to be interested in him in the summer but nothing came of it.
