Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey was today recalled to the Wales squad for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against FYR Macedonia and Belgium.
Hennessey, who is on loan at Championship side Yeovil, returns to Chris Coleman’s 23-man squad for the games on October 11 and 15 after recovering from a twice-ruptured cruciate ligament.
Wolves team-mate Sam Ricketts is also named in the party along with Albion keeper Boaz Myhill, but there is no place for Molineux midfielder Dave Edwards.
Gareth Bale has been named in the squad, but will not play a part in either match. The Real Madrid forward has made just three appearances for Real Madrid since making his world-record move from Tottenham, and is currently sidelined by a thigh injury.
Wales boss Chris Coleman confirmed the 24-year-old would not feature, saying: “We have spoken to the doctor and we will be without him, but we said all along it is very tough for him to have had no pre-season and be thrown in at the deep end.”
Squad: Hennessey; Myhill, Fon Williams; B Davies, Gabbidon, Gunter, Matthews, Ricketts, Taylor, A Williams; Allen, Collison, Crofts, John, King, Ledley, Ramsey, Vaughan; Bale, Bellamy, Church, Robson-Kanu, Vokes.
