Graham Turner is a week away from his first competitive reunion with Wolves since leaving the club nearly 20 years ago.
In truth, Molineux has never been too far away from the affections of the man who signed Steve Bull and inspired the club’s recovery from the depths of its 1980s decline.
“It’s a great privilege that I am given such a warm welcome whenever I go back there now, a great privilege. Funny isn’t it? They think I’m a far better manager now than they did back then!” says Turner as he reflects on his Molineux years and the challenge of advancing Shrewsbury onwards and upwards.
Turner, who still describes himself as one of the game’s ‘grumpy’ bosses, is relishing next week’s big clash against Kenny Jackett’s team.
“I see them as favourites (for promotion),” said Turner. “They’ve got better players for a start.
“There’s no reason why they can’t win promotion properly motivated, organised and with that extra quality.”
