Wolves were this afternoon on the verge of signing Barnsley full-back Scott Golbourne.
The League One high-fliers have agreed a fee with the Championship club and Wolves will now talks terms with the 25-year-old left-back.
Golbourne began his career at home-town club Bristol City before a free transfer switch to Reading in 2006.
After two Premier League appearances under Royals boss Steve Coppell and loan spells at Wycombe, Bournemouth and Oldham, Golbourne completed a permanent switch to Exeter in 2009.
More than 100 games for the Grecians followed before the England Under-19 international jumped back up the league ladder with a move to Barnsley, for whom he has made 44 appearances, scoring two goals.
* Wolves’ League One derby with Walsall on September 7 has been put back until Tuesday, September 17 (7.45pm) due to international call-ups.
