Karl Henry doesn't want to be sold by Wolves
Transfer-listed midfielder Karl Henry today insisted he wants to stay at Wolves and fight for his place in League One.
The 30-year-old has been put up for sale with Roger Johnson, Jamie O'Hara and Stephen Ward.
All four have been forced to do the football part of their pre-season training with the development squad after being told by head coach Kenny Jackett that they were not in his plans.
But Wolverhampton-born Henry, who is the club's longest-serving regular, still has three years on his contract and wants the chance to stake his claim in a new era at Molineux.
Henry, who has been linked with Ipswich and Leicester, said: "I signed a four-year deal last summer so I have got three years on my contract and that tells me my future lies at Wolves.
"They turned down bids from Premier League clubs for me last summer and I signed a new long-term deal. Twelve months on I'm training with the development team.
"I have not asked for any of this, it's not my decision and I would not have asked to go on the transfer list.
"It's a shame that it's come to this and I'm gutted, but I've been in football long enough to know that this is what happens.
"If other clubs come in for me I will be sad to leave but, if not, I will be delighted to fight for my place here."
Relegation last season is still painful for Henry and he wants the chance to redeem himself and be part of a successful, winning Wolves team again.
He said: "I was disappointed in the part I played in our downfall last season and hopefully the team can bounce back by winning promotion at the first attempt.
"Of course I would like to be part of that."
And Henry insists he will remain professional despite having to train with the youngsters.
He said: "It feels a bit like a punishment but it's also a privilege to train with the development team.
"There are some really good players here and Mick Halsall is a great coach."
