Bjorn Sigurdarson still wants to remain at Wolves

Striker Bjorn Sigurdarson today delivered Wolves a boost by confirming Stale Solbakken's thoughts that he isn't put off by League One and wants to stay.

The Icelandic forward, who cost £2.4m from Lillestrom last summer, has been one of the rare highlights of Wolves' relegation, scoring five goals in 37 League games, although 15 of those were off the bench.

Solbakken said after snapping up Sigurdarson that Wolves wouldn't have been able to afford the 21-year-old if they had waited another six months, convinced he would have been out of their price range.

Sigurdarson signed a four-year deal last July and is one of several players who are likely to attract interest – but he wants to stay.

"You never know what's going to happen in football but I'd like to prove I can do a job and stay at the club," he said. "When I came here I thought we'd be battling to be promoted but instead we've been relegated.

"But that doesn't put me off at all. I'm at an age where I feel I can still develop and I can do that here, and hopefully score more goals next season. There are some really good people here, top facilities with the training ground and stadium, great fans, and I still believe I can achieve my aims here and help the club.

"To enjoy life you have to feel comfortable where you are and I'm very happy in Wolverhampton. We're in League One next season but hopefully a new manager will have the chance to build a new team."
