Wolves 2 Bristol City 1 - match report
Wolves finally grabbed their first home win under Dean Saunders in a real see-saw drama against relegation rivals Bristol City at Molineux.
Wolves finally grabbed their first home win under Dean Saunders in a real see-saw drama against relegation rivals Bristol City at Molineux.
Saunders’ side seemed to be heading for another defeat after a bizarre 25th-minute own goal from David Davis that Carl Ikeme will be blamed for.
But goals from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (76) and Kevin Doyle three minutes later turned the game on its head and gave the beleaguered manager his first win at Molineux at the fifth time of asking and only his second victory in 12 in charge.
Wolves fans had endured a torrid first half which saw the injury-enforced withdrawal of Bakary Sako and Dave Edwards in five crazy minutes and any semblance of confidence and cohesion totally eroded by a goal which would have been comical had it not been so desperately sad from a gold and black perspective.
Saunders made three changes to the side that lost 3-1 at Nottingham Forest last Saturday.
Jack Robinson, David Davis and Kevin Doyle replaced the suspended Stephen Ward and captain Karl Henry and Bjorn Sigurdarson, with Doyle named skipper.
Henry and Sigurdarson dropped to the bench.
Saunders had vowed Wolves would have the home fans on the edge of their seats, but instead it was a tentative beginning from the hosts at a tense Molineux which was soon engulfed by grey skies and driving rain.
Bristol City created the first chance in the eighth minute when Steven Davies latched onto Lewis Nyatanga’s long pass from defence after he cut out Robinson’s cross to skip clear of the offside trap only to fire an angled drive wide.
But the tide soon turned in the Robins’ favour in quite unbelievable circumstances.
There seemed to be no danger whatsoever as Ikeme played a simple pass to David Davis, who rolled it back to the keeper in space with Cole Skuse closing down the midfielder.
Yet inexplicably, Ikeme seemed to misjudge the ball and instead of booting it clear or controlling it, it seemed to bounce up and ended up trickling through his legs.
Although Ikeme has to take the blame, Davis has to take some responsibility too for putting him under pressure with a difficult ball.
Wolves’ confidence, already hanging by a thread, seemed to snap almost immediately, and with it went any cohesion or chance of some decent play.
And any luck also seemed to desert them too as they lost two players to injury inside five minutes before the break.
First, Bakary Sako appeared to pull a hamstring as he burst onto a short pass from Doyle in the 33rd minute.
His replacement, Stephen Hunt, was immediately roundly booed.
Doyle had a half chance snatched away from him when his sidefooted effort ricocheted back to him off Liam Fontaine and looped harmlessly over the bar after Edwards had turned Ebanks-Blake’s cross into his path.
But worse was to follow however as Dave Edwards went off on 38, clearly unable to continue after pulling up and falling to the ground to be replaced by Sigurdarson.
Ebanks-Blake had two half chances to equalise in first-half injury time.
First his angled shot from Hunt’s cross was blocked by the impressive Nyatanga, who seemed to be heading everything away.
Then he volleyed high into the South Bank from just outside the box from Doyle’s header.
Wolves began the second half having replaced Ikeme with Dorus De Vries, Saunders making the first choice keeper pay for his mistake.
And the home side started on the front foot, Ebanks-Blake seeing a shot on the turn blocked by Liam Kelly.
There were still worries for Wolves at the other end and Davies forced De Vries into his first piece of action with a rising shot after Bredan Moloney’s through ball split the home centre halves far too easily.
Wolves’ unconvincing attempts at a revival reached a head just after the hour when fans on the South Bank began an obscene chant for chairman Steve Morgan to leave the club.
On the pitch, Saunders’ side desperately tried to get themselves back into the game and a shot by Sigurdarson straight at keeper Tom Heaton sparked loud ironic cheers.
Sigurdarson wasted another chance when he lashed high and wide after Ebanks-Blake helped Hunt’s cross back to him.
Wolves went desperately close to an equaliser on 73 when Matt Doherty crept around the back for a cross-shot which was drifting in before Liam Fontaine headed the ball off the line.
And the equaliser which Wolves had started to threaten duly came three minutes later when Ebanks-Blake superbly turned Nyatanga after controlling Hunt’s low centre before crashing home a fierce left-foot shot from near the penalty spot.
Moments later, Ebanks-Blake had the ball in the net again only for his firm angled drive to be disallowed for offside, with the flag already up for an offside by Sigurdarson.
Three minutes after the equaliser however Molineux was in ecstacy when Doyle glanced home Hunt’s chip at the near post to grab the winner.
With the crowd up and long-lost confidence suddenly surging through their veins, Sigurdarson thumped a volley on the turn that was tipped around the post by Heaton on 83.
And with their tails up, Wolves had little trouble hanging on despite four minutes of time added on at the end to give their long-suffering fans of avoiding the drop.

Shame on all the idiots who booed Stephen Hunt! He is one of our players and he was the man who made the difference today. As for those chanting against Morgan, you obviously don't remember The Bhattis! Be careful what you wish for!
Yorkshire Wolf
Completely agree about Hunt. As much as I love Wolves, my disdain towards some of the the thick, inbred morons who inhabit Molineux completely overshadows my pride as a fan.

Well said, White Rose bearer.
Some of our “fans” today were a complete disgrace, and as big an embarrassment, collectively, as the team. As someone wholly devoid of ideas once said, not so long ago, we are all in this together. And no, it wasn’t Dean Saunders. But it might as well have been, such is the clap-trap that he comes out with. Has he actually been on a management course, or was it a course in speaking gibberish? If so, he must surely have passed with honours. Things are not good – not good at all. We are hanging on, but are wholly devoid of confidence. We can hardly acclaim a couple of recent victories against Millwall (who had a clear eye on Wembley), and bottom-of-the-table Bristol City (who we merrily hammered earlier on in the season), as signifying turning points in an otherwise disastrous season. Relegation is there for the asking. But do we really want it that badly that we harangue our own players, as soon as they appear? Come on South Bankers, get a grip, for God’s sake. Let’s just try and support the team – whoever is picked - and see if we can somehow scramble into the lifeboat. Out of darkness…and all that. And, anyway, the North Bank always was better. So much nearer to Bushbury.

Dear TrueStaffordshireknot
You seem to talk a load of sense and have completely won me over. Forget all about Bushbury, and elope with me to Bilston. I promise you endless nights of passionate discussions about the respective merits of Peter Knowles and Burnside...and will try never to mention the fateful night Phil Parkes was sent off against West Brom

Mate why don't you put your laptop down and get on a train to Wolverhampton and see a game instead of giving it the big un on here. How dare you insult wolves fans calling them inbred. At least they voice their opinion at molineux instead of being a keyboard warrior like you. Support Leeds or Barnsley if you wanna moan. Wolves ay we.

I've missed two league games all season. Cheers.

Totally agree Stephen Hunt changed the game when he came on. I was embarrassed to be a Wolves fan when he was booed but good on him he stuck it up them with a man of the match performance. Keep it up Hunty and please give the rest of the team some of that never say die attitude.
UTW
South Bank faithful
Fans were booing that Sig didnt come on in place of Sako as in previous games he has been one of our better players. When Hunt actually came on there was a loud cheer and round of applause.
wolfbull
Well said. Hunt is a 100% tryer. He changed the course of the game
Stato's Boring Brother
Spot on. Every single one of those who booed Hunt as he came on should never return to Molineux. All he was reported as saying is that player's confidence isn't help by booing & negativity and in response to his comments - yes - he was booed.
Fortunately, Hunt is one of our older, more experienced players and seems to thrive on on this sort of treatment and he set up both goals.
Hopefully, Ikeme and Davis will get over their mistake and gain something from the atmosphere at the end and the whole team will get a boost in confidence.
Instead of banging on about the last 15 matches lets start quoting stats like 2 wins and a draw out of the last 4. If we can keep that up we stand a chance of getting out of this mess.
The main negative today is that results elsewhere haven't done us any favours.
Hopefully Sue will be back today and be a lot happier now that the flying whinger can't have a pop at Henry's performance.

Knuckle dragging losers the lot of them. Wish they'd go away and support Walsall. And what's Stephen hunt done to them? As far as I know he's always given his all.
gwokka
Totally agree with comment on hunt. Do the morons on the south bank not realise that booing players is only going to knock their confidence. When the booing started people around me in the stevie bull started cheering him. I hope he heard because he had a good game and set up both goals
manc andy
The kids in the lower Steve Bull stand showed all us wolves fans how to support the team today,,they didnt stop cheering and clapping,,,,well done to the kids,,,,,who are you,who are you, who are you,,,,,,we heard you all,,,brilliant get them in every week,,,,UTW
Old Man in Old Gold
It's not only the South Bank abusing the players. There is a loud mothed prat in the Billy Wright lower who shouted, ranted and booed as Steven Hunt came on the pitch. Why come to the Mol' if you don't want to support the side Wolves doesn't need your support or money. Hunt was the man of the match and his actions resulted in both Wolves goals. Thank you Hunty. Ignore the morons.
Quietwolf
Couldn't agree more. No wonder we can't attract decent players when the fans behave like animals. Invaluable win for Wolves, they played with some real verve when the equaliser came and Hunt made a difference. The fans who pile on the scorn during a match should take a long hard look at themselves, because they are a big part of the problem.
Realist
What has the present position got to do with the Bhatti's?
Sir Jack resolved the situation but then employed Moxey and sold it to Morgan. So a portion of the blame for the present situation is down to those 3. Let's face it the decisions that have been made by the latter 2 have been nothing short of ridiculous.
Are you interested in the football or the construction business???
Stuart
What on earth has Steve Morgan's business got to do with Wolves. Wolves are not his toy, like a few clubs are to the Premier League billionaires. He has to earn his cash like any other person, is it a rule that once you buy a Football Club you have to stop doing anything else?
Of course if your a property developer in Wolverhampton and you see a plot of land that can be redeveloped - you are gonna do it. Not say "Oh wait a minute I own a Football Club now". Don't be so ridiculus.
If you haven't got a Billionaire running your club the next best thing could be to have a Businessman, just look at WBA. Well run club, reeping in the benefits of not being bankrupt. I understand that every decision they have made has not been great, untimely mostly - but if we were to stay up, can you honestly say hes taken us back? 3 years in the Premier (Doesn't matter how bad some of them were), WBA had a torrid time of going up and down for years before they could finally establish themselves.
Morgans only problem is listening to the Fans to much. Fans wanted McCarthy out - so he did, regardless of timing or replacing him. The same happened with Solbakken.
Some Wolves fans want action, then complain about the action taken. Whats the point?
People threatening to stop season tickets or go else where are not proper fans.
I AM WOLVES THROUGH AND THROUGH. AND WILL BE WHETHER WE ARE IN CONFERENCE OR PREMIER LEAGUE.
maltawolves
Morgan has a peronal fortune estimated at some £350 million. He brought the club for £10 with a promised investment of £30 million,When may i ask is the investment going to be made?.Those 3 seasons in the premiership were money making and not investing years, some £17 million put in Wolverhampton Wanderers PROPERTIES ltd so yes Morgans building empire has a lot to do with Wolves,Season ticket holder and away traveller in the Bhattie years.
Realist
Stuart. Sorry mate but you have totally missed the point I was making.
I won't bother to explain it however other than to say the following. Read and answer the question asked by Malta Wolves.
What is invested in the team will have it's reward at the turnstiles. Think about it!
Mountain Wolf
I sit in the South Bank and nobody around me booed Stephen Hunt. In fact we were so disgusted that hundreds of us applauded him, many of us standing to do so. Stephen Hunt is a hard worker and he really worries the opposition in the same way that a Jack Russell menaces anybody on his territory.
HershamWolf
Have to agree with you, MW. I'm in the North Bank, plenty of them booed Hunt. Disgraceful. Also a very effective way of supporting our team, isn't it?
J3A79
As much as my heart sank, and I doubted the decision made when Hunt come on, booing him was just not necessary.
it really is a pity that he was booed before he even touched the ball
purewolves
Johnny I am so with you on yr comment. I wonder sometimes what some of our fans have as a brain but then some of them werent around in the bhatti days so havent got a clue.
Mr P
Papering over the cracks. Still a completely abject performance with no apparent tactical plan.

Stephen Hunt....23rd May 2011..any of you boo-boys actually remember what this guy did...a curling shot just inside the penalty area...kept us in the premier league for another term....oh yes....boo him now.......
Had he not, I am afraid to say our capitulation may have already passed.
I still doubt that Dean Saunders carries the credentials to manage this team though such difficult times....even in the face of a victory (today) which on paper should already of been ours....this may have saved his neck for another week ?
So a message to the boo-boys with short memories.....wrap up and start supporting !

Don't you remember that we actually lost a "Must win" game that day? Every bit as helpful to us that day was Birmingham City losing to Spurs so there were no heroes on the field for Wolves then.
Having said that i like Stephen Hunt as a player and he offers us so much for his enthusiasm and tenacious attitude if nothing else it is just a shame that he has been so injury prone not only with us but throughout his career.
Timmiswolf
But Stevepats - Blues only lost to Spurs because of Hunt's goal. With us losing 3-1, and Blues drawing, we were down on goals scored, I think.
Hunt scored and McLeish, on hearing the news, had to send everyone forward in a desperate attempt to get the extra goal they needed. They then got picked off on the break and lost. From where I was in the Steve Bull that day, Hunt sure felt like a hero to me.
Frantic Friday
we lost to blackburn and blouses lost to spurs which kept us up by 1 point so how did hunt keep us up !!!!

The fans were booing the decision to bring him on and everyone around me in the South Bank clapped him on.
It turned out to be a great substitution in the end, but he was woeful in the last game, but agree he certainly doesn't deserve any abuse as he always gives everything.
philly wolf
hunt has one good game in the last 2 years and everyone is in love with him again and against the worst team in the league. I watched every game last year and hunt and henry were terrible. is hunt gonna cry because the fans booed him, grow some thicker skin. players get booed in every sport. your the morons, every fan that pays there hard earned money has a right to boo!!!
purewolves
If thats what you want to do then do it but not when the match is going on. We all pay our money you are not the only one that does. If you wish to boo there are other ways to let them know your not happy or at least wait till the end of match. I myself do not believe in booing in way shape or form. At least when Hunt plays he wears his shirt with pride just unfortunate hes been out for a while but at least he has a go.
Frantic Friday
well said mate my thoughts exactly, hes done nothing for the period of time hes been with the club, but probably because his contract runs out hes making a bit of effort.
milly
Totally agree. Ok against Watford he had just returned to full fitness and was off form, but today when he came on he showed us his battling qualities. Always rattling his opponents, and provided 2 crosses for the goals, the second one was quality as he battled for possession and delivered the cross between defenders and goalie. This is what our strikers need, a traditional winger who can supply decent crosses and not trying to play through them all the time.. Simples. UTW
Paul
If you want the club to fail then keep moaning, pick holes, shout abuse and destroy the fragile team ethos that we have right now.
Go and support West Brom or Birmingham, and do us all a favour.
Or shut up unless you can do the team a favour, and yes all of us who have been here all these years and try saying something positive.
The kindest thing would be to give all you Muppets electro therapy.
Stand tall and stand proud. Come on you Wolves
Jake
A few booed but then the majority clapped him. Why dont you report it like it was Tim?
Wolf72
Nice to see rounded condemnation of the idiots that think booing a player is going to deliver success!?!?!?
It is you that is poisoning our great club! Nice to see Hunty had the last laugh and still had the passion and desire to deliver our two goals! Good on him!

well said... TWO assists from Hunty!!
He s had injury and form problems but he s an energetic and busy player when on form.. He harries and presses and puts full backs under pressure when he hasnt got the ball..AND he chases back and tracks..oh..and a quality goal to keep us in the PREM last time..
Frantic Friday
how did his goal keep us in the premiership when we lost to blackburn it was blues losing to spurs that kept us in the premiership
Definitive Wolf
OK - you've made your point, you don't care for Hunt. (I've always preferred him on our side rather than against us because of the very attributes steve hill describes - but I will concede that his injuries have deprived us of his presence on too many occasions).
The Unhappy Wanderer
Before he scored we were behind Blues on goal difference, that's how.
And sorry to be pedantic, but we were in the Premier League, not the Premiership.
The Teecher
Just how many times do we have to go over this old chestnut. . When Hunt scored against Blackburn McLeish sent Johnson up front to try and force a result, left Blues open at the back and Spurs scored.
It was totally down to Hunts goal, you nincompoop!

Great result but very dodgy first half. Deano needs to get loanees in soonest never mind, 'we can't do this and we can't do that'

Still in deep trouble though and we need help as soon as.

English Exile
A welcome 3 points but both Tim Nash and the BBC said ''Wolves were AWFUL before the goal''.
So don't say it doesn't matter because it DOES.
Can't see this performance improving confidence can you??
Sir Billy Quiet
English Exile - you may think you are a Wolves fan but you are not. Bet you booed Hunt and chanted against Saunders?
We don't win very often at the moment but still you use a victory as an excuse to slag off the club................
Support - look it up in the dictionary.
Farmer Ted
If you could not see that was the worst Wolves performance this season against probably, but only just, the worst team in our division then you are deluded. Two well taken goals does not hide the quite shocking effort and skill levels of four or five players wearing black and gold.
For the record I did not boo Stephen Hunt when he came on and I would have admonished anyone around me who had. The decisions that Steve Morgan has made over the last two years needs to be criticised in the strongest terms.
How dare you tell long standing fans who have just witnessed the garbage we've just seen to look up the word support in the dictionary.
Sir Lupi
Sorry billy, but exile is right on this occasion.
The first half performance was shambolic, it's not good enough.
It's difficult to continuously support a team that continuously lets you down both on and off the pitch.
A win is a win, fair enough, but today's performance was by no means convincing or good enough to install any sort of faith or belief in these woeful players and the panicky, unorganised manager that has all week to get them ready for a big game against a another small club with much less resources than ours.
They are second from bottom and they deserve to be.
lonewolf
No SBQ He is entitled to his opinion
The Team and Management are Shocking - 2nd from Bottom is a disaster
Playing another game like that first Half will ensure a better team will be 2--3 goals up by the second half...
Just Cop on and get real
English Exile
Please, please engage your brain before writing, please.
No I didn't boo Hunt or Saunders because I wasn't there you clown. The clue is in the name.
Watched on line and it was sub standard but I didn't say that, I said the BBC and Tim Nash said that, so how was I slagging off the team.
You've obviously got your Gold tinted glasses on again.
I would never boo Saunders cus he is the last one to blame. He never asked for the job did he.
Finally, if you read this properly and read what it says and not what your mind thinks it says, I will give you one final nugget.
Get your money on both of these teams to go down.....

On your side - you are right we were awful and we are likely to go down.
In SBQ's defence - you were saying we were rubbish when we were staying up in the Prem. Maybe you should have tried harder to enjoy those times.
Orlando Wolves
Exile - Anyone with an iota of common sense knows you were not at the match, by the wording of your post.
Sir Billy, is a legend in his own opinion, and he will not let facts get in his way when he wants to abuse those who disagree with him.

People like you make me sick, just because someone has a different opinion to yours you question them being a fan.
You're no more a supporter than anyone else, you need to go back to school with your playground mentality
PeteNuts
And then look up "lapdog".
I think what EE said was entirely reasonable - certainly, if that is what qualifies as a "slagging off" in your world then you must spend your life in a constant state of pique.
Not all criticism is to be dismissed as the low moan of the professionally disgruntled, mate. From where I was sat it sounds like we were awful, although I was sat about 120 miles away cradling my mate's new-born son. Some things are more important than a, by all accounts not very good, football match.
bilodave
English exile makes a fair point and all you can do Sir Billy is attack him. I think it's you that needs to look up support in the dictionary and try free speech while you are at it. Labelling everyone who offers any criticism (and until the equaliser we were dire) as a knuckle dragging yobo who boos and chants obscenities just shows you have lost the argument as well as the plot.

Save your protest until after the match, it is counter-productive while we have a game to win.
It would also help if you could make it without being abusive, people might hear your point and not the foul-mouthing.
WolvoJoe
NO its not the fans' fault we're in this position but YES, open hostility towards our team - while only a goal down - definitely makes matters worse. It all started when karl got booed off last season when subbed against newcastle and its been downhill ever since: supporters who abuse their own team while the game is going on may as well just cheer on the opposition. its as futile and dysfunctional as self-harming...

WORRIED WOLF
OK so we sneeked a win WOW remember we beat them 4 v 1 at there place, we sneeked it inspite of useless deano not because of. The man of the match started on the bench he used his third sub at half time but luckily got away with it he now takes his fantastic record to 2 wins out of 12 or 9 wins in 52 championship games compare that to Billy Davies at Forest of 6 wins out of 6 games. I am sorry he has to go he is out of his depth does not know his best team or formation has not got a clue about tactics and should only be allowed to play championship manager on his playstation.
LEN
THERE AGAIN THE IDIOTS BOOING HUNT AND THEN TELLING MORGAN TO GO WHAT ARE YOU AFTER THERE IS NO ONE OUT THERE WITH STUPED MONEY TO INVEST, FANS NEED TO GIVE THE PLAYERS THERE FULL SUPPORT NOW TILL THE END THEN REBUILD
Noisy
Never thought I would leave the game having won so disappointed and with less hope of staying up than I had at 3 o'clock. With Sako's injury we have to get in someone to scare opposition defences. We also need the target man that we seem to think we have up front already. Only positives I could take were 3 points and Hunt who shoved the boos down some throats (he was awful and out of order 2 weeks ago, but anyone who boos a Wolves Player coming on deserves the rubbish we all have to watch).
bilodave
Well said, please give Sir Billy lessons in objectivity. He won't take them from anyone else.

Trouble ahead, ikeme has broken his hand!
AdMant
I disagree - Devries was imperious for Swansea in their championship season... It's a striker we need.
Noisy
I heard Saunders say he had a hand injury, but the only way this is true is if he punched a wall in the dressing room. In fairness De Vries looked very composed, even if it did seem a reckless way to use out last sub.
Ricoh
So called wolves fans boo and slate the wolves team.. the wolves team play horrendous.... as soon as we equalise the fans get behins the team and we score again!!!!.... just proves how important it is to get behind the players!!!...
Im not surprised we are playing crap at the mo, the boys are too scared to touch the ball... Edwards gets loads of stick and boos when he was subbed the other week.. then scores!!!...
Hunt gets booed today when he was subbed and crosses the winning ball...
The only people the boo boys should be booing is themselves and start encouraging the players as much as we can.
Be the TWELVTH man or stay at home.
Paul Gethin
Let me check I understand...
You say Edwards gets booed. Then Edwards scores.
You say Hunt gets booed. Then Hunt sets up the goals.
The answer is obvious - we need to start booing ALL our players. We'll never lose a game again.
Be the twelfth man, Rich and get booing from the first minute against Boro....
Buckswolf
Well said Ricoh - one of the biggest problems we have at the club are the minority of booing idiots who don't understand enough about the game to have a valid opinion on what needs to be done. They boo Hunt on his first run out after a long injury (and an emergency sub appearance as a full back) - then he comes on yesterday ( and gets booed again because he's dared to say what all the players are thinking) - goes at it 110% - competes for everything and makes 2 goals with 2 superb crosses and wins us he game. Dilemma for he idiots now! Keep booing him or cheer him? UTW!

at last, 3 points , 3 goals, and i can go to work next week and not suffer more urine taking from the sandwell/vile/liverpool/blackpool/everton fans..

Didn't go today but great fight back and hopefully goals for our strikers will do then some confidence. I have hot to say I don't think ikeme has played that well lately so maybe he does need dropping. How people can boo hunt when what he said is true! We don't need supporters like them so either back the players or don't come. We are in the trenches now so let's get behind them and beat boro. Barnsley and pboro have done hard games coming up so let's get behind the wolves and stay up!!! Jay bothroyd and Danny murphy on loan please o hara has had 7 games to get fit and is just going through the motions although I don't want to encourage anyone to boo him. Come on me babies keep the faith...

Wednesbury - I am amazed at your derogatory attitude you show to others that may not share your views.

After reading of the disgraceful behaviour of what must have been a large proportion of the South Bank crowd, actually booing Stephen Hunt as he came on to the pitch as a substitute, I have to question; why do they associate themselves with the club, and then have the gall to say they support Wolverhampton Wanderers ? It is shameful behaviour of the highest order, and if Wolves are relegated, every last one of these so called `fans` can congratulate themselves on a job well done, safe in the knowledge that they have played their part in making the players actually fear playing on at the Molineux, instead of supporting them.
I have supported Wolves now for over 55 years and I have NEVER once booed the players when at the Molineux, or anywhere else for that matter. Those who do ought to hang their heads in shame. Is it any wonder that players don`t want to come to Wolves ?
I will agree that there have been many mistakes made at Molineux over the last couple of years AT ALL LEVELS, but the destructive negativity as is being displayed by some supporters at the moment is not called for. Steve Morgan, I believe, does have Wolves interests at heart, and I also believe that he knows that he has made some mistakes which have contributed to our current position. To urge him to sell the club would be another huge mistake to add to the catalogue of errors on the `fans` part. McCarthy and Solbakken were hounded out of the club by a certain faction, with the result that we got TC after sacking 1), and Dean Saunders after sacking 2), both possibly resulting in consecutive relegations. Couple that with the negativity and carping surrounding the `appointment` of Steve Bruce on these pages, and some Wolves fans have a lot to answer for.
Having said that a Director of Football is badly needed at this club.
On a positive note now, congratulations to Stephen Hunt on his efforts in laying on our two goals today, and SEB and Doyle for scoring them.
To the players: Please build on today`s result and lets`s have a repeat in our next game.
To Steve Morgan : Please get a quality and knowledgeable Director of Football at the club as soon as possible.
and,
To those fans to whom it applies : Either support your team, or, stay away from Molineux as your negative abuse isn`t wanted, and in our current situation it is not helpful. (If they put 1/10th of the effort into supporting the players as Stephen Hunt puts into his game, I think we would all be better off for it).

Excellent post, and well presented.
Why not Steve Bull as D.o.F. with immediate
power for team selection !! After all he does
know the whole situation, and everyone
respects his judgement .
Someone has to do it !! Cheers.

Lets not get carried away for most of that game we were woeful. It was great to win and Hunt was the difference as both assists from him resulted in the goals. I still do not think we will stay up as other teams in the vital zone are still winning. The only thing that will keep us up is a style of play that develops strong possession with smart movement and intelligent passing. Deano keep them away from the training ground and take them on some more bonding sessions. Malmaison a perfect call !! That should get them bonding alright. Middlesbrough watch out !!!!!!!
Lupus
Man of the match - Stephen Hunt. He kept us up with his goal against Blackburn. A few more performances like that and he might do it again.
Grace
Whilst the 3 points are very important & very very welcome.
That display was appalling, the worst I've seen in over 35 yrs of following Wolves & that's a bold statement because I've witnessed some rubbish over the years.
If that's the level of performance we are going to churn out, we will be playing in division one next yr.
The goal aside I thought David Davis was shocking, the boy seems to think he's better than he is, he was an embarrassment to the shirt.
And the reaction of the south bank towards Hunt coming on was also disapointing.
Also I'm concerned about Saunders, he's so far out of his depth it's unreal, OK 2 of the 3 subs were forced upon him but to sub Ikeme at half time was maddness, which he luckily got away with, but Edwards starting on the right???
Whats that all about, when Sigardson is available???
p
I thought Davies was poor.
Brightonwolf
Well said.
Buckswolf
Grace, if you've been going for 35 years and that's the worst performance you've ever seen then you need to get your memory pills changed. Can I remind you of Andy king upfront, Dale Rudge in midfield and Peter Zelem at the back...... Scary!!!!!
Grace
Listen mate
I gave up a long time ago with arguing with people on here.
The crew that turned out yesterday are earning tens of thousands, playing against the dross of the division at home.
The players you mention, were poor players, agreed, but they gave their all & we had no alternative.
There were no Ferrari's at the training ground in those days.
I suggest you put matters into context.
rowley wolf
well done today lads,it wasn't about the performance it was about 3pts & you done what was asked! i said if we lost today we were down, but thank god we won! but its still along road ahead with the likes of barnsley & peterborough coming into form this is going to be a scrap right down to the wire! we got two weeks to get ready for a out of form middlesbrough which is also a must win! hopefully we can get 1or2 new additions in by then, raheem sterling being linked, what a signing that would be,would give us some much needed creativity which we are clearly lacking, hope sako injury isnt to serious because thats a big loss, not to bothered about loss of edwards because theres better players at club who can take his place! dean you should surely know by now your best squad so pick them, dont keep chopping & changing everyweek it does nothing for players confidence for example doyle & ebanks-blake still best two strikers so play them everyweek, hopefully goal today will give doyle a bit of confidence! oh & dean fairplay for dropping karl henry hopefully he never plays for us again!
mark plaza
went to the match, apart from ten minutes when we scored the goals and played ok ,we were truely awful.i can not see us staying up,to many players past thier sell by date, midfield so poor, again,so hard to think of any positives,3 points i guess but that apart very little else.
Andy, Perton
Well in Hunt - outstanding effort and both goals we scored in the right net wouldn't have been possible without him. The boo-boys in the south bank who poisoned the air before Hunt entered the field - you can now go and hang your heads in shame. A disgrace to our club and to the genuine supporters who genuinely want the players to succeed.
Don't just put your hands up and admit you're a moron. Prove you've learned your lesson by shutting your mouths and support the team when they need us most. Shut it or don't come. Simples.

Where is herewolf ? You should support your local club Hereford United and stop picking holes in all things Wolves. Saunders is doing a good job and you should give him and his team some credit and stop criticising every tiny little blemish in his work. Who could you get to do a better job Alex McLeish ? Tony mowbry ? Or keith Adams ?

How do you know carl as broke is hand. Stephen hunt by far the best player wolves have got at ghe moment at least he gives 100per cent every time he puts the shirt on shame the idots dont see that.

Can't understand why Hunty gets so much stick, he always puts a shift in for us, OK he hasn't set the grass alight but then who has?
The last 15 minutes showed the difference a bit of confidence can make. It wasn't great, it wasn't pretty but it was 3 points. Who wouldn't have taken that at the beginning of the game?
Come on, get behind the boys, it makes a difference!

OK so Hunt is now the second coming of Christ - but £40,000 a week and about the only good 15 minutes for 18 months from him get real...
Will take the three points but we need another 15 .......i cant see it we are unlikley to play anyone as bad as Bristol anytime soon- however having outlayed anoth £800 i hope beyond hope they prove me wrong.
However the game was shocking ...and isitors?how are you going to get them improving before our next v
Joe
Totally agree, too many player under preforming.
Saunders cannot do anything about personal performance, only the players can do that.
The only bright light in the side Sako went off injured, god help us if it's long term!
RichWolf64
Hunt turned the game on it's head. Can't believe how many fans we have that just have no idea at all.
He's actually been injured, that's why he hasn't played. And, in case you forgot. Hunt's goal saved us from relegation two years ago and I suspect he will save us again.
The only player with any real quality on the pitch yesterday. Well played and thanks Hunty.

Lonewolf - Please give credit where it is due. Why do we crucify our team, when they got the 3 points needed today - pretty or not!

I so want to praise this team and manager however they are I'm afraid very very poor - and I hate all this if you don't support with blind faith (good name for a group) your not a supporter tosh
Realistic Wolf
Booing Hunt was unacceptable and most will agree on that point. Three points, great, however it does not alter one iota the fact the two worst teams in the championship were on display today. Clueless hoof and hope dire parks football. Must have missed the up and at em that was promised by Saunders. Mark my words, we are down bar a miracle. Considering how much was at stake the performance was lacklustre to say the least. Today proved beyond doubt Saunders is not the man for the job and in my opinion wasn't from the start. Stale wanted money for new faces in January but Morgan chose to sack him on the pretence of performances. If that is the case why hasn't he got rid of Saunders who's record is abysmal with no signs of improvement. If Kenny Hibbit and John Richards fear the worst there is nothing else to add.
wol1877ves
spot on Realistic Wolf, its obvious to me that staale was doing a better job than most fans thought judging by the way we have dropped like a stone since he left, and morgan decided he did'nt want to spend on new players so like you say used it as a excuse to penny pinch again and it looks like its backfired big time but what do we know were only fans who have been there a long time and will be there long after the players the managers and the owners are gone we are wolves its in our blood its just a pity some of these players did'nt feel the same,,,,
Orlando Wolves
Agree - especially with regard to Stale Solbakken
rowley wolf
i think your right dean is clearly not the man for the job, clueless tactics, hoof ball, does not know his best eleven & way out of his depth but i think so were the two guys before him tc & stale! i believe bruce or curbishley should have come in when mick left but it never happened, they both had experience at prem & championship level & dont think we would have been in the mess we are in now! but deano's here & even if we dont like it,we gotta back him & team till end of season!
Orlando Wolves
Disagree about Solbakken
The Truth Hurts
Realistic wolf you are spot on mate, Was at the game on saturday and have been for many a year, It was for me as far as i can remember the worst 75 minutes i have witnessed. Thankful for the 3 points but i think we are down . And this will upset the happy clappers SAUNDERS IS NOT THE MAN THIS JOB
Orlando Wolves
I now agree about Saunders
Farmer Ted
That was a shocking game of football. There were players out there in old gold and black who either completely lack confidence or couldn't care less. I just hope it's the former and that the win will help restore confidence. Fortunately Bristol City were worse and after that ridiculous goal we were worth our win with two well taken goals. Those who booed Stephen Hunt hang your heads in shame, he turned the game ! Very unwise to drop Karl Henry, despite the DHs who come on here with verbal abuse, he is one player who puts 100% in.
With Sako out for a few weeks it s vital we bring in a striker and a midfielder.
I haven't renewed yet and need much more incentive from the pitch to tempt me.
Orlando Wolves
Farmer Ted - I have floated the suggestion a couple of times in my posts that, I believe one of the origins of the shocking under performance of this team was due to the 50% pay cut on relegation. On this point I am very suspicious.
We all know that there is, certainly one player clique at this club, and maybe more. We also know that the previous manager wanted to move certain players on for various reasons (he is too much of a gentleman to directly accuse, or criticise, the individuals concerned.) I also am of the opinion that Stale Solbakken believed he was being deliberately undermined by certain players at Wolves. I also believe that some of the players are intentionally under performing as a result of that pay cut.
My one criticism of Stale was that he was possibly a little lax on discipline, especially after McCarthy, and certain individuals took advantage of it. (He should have bought Vinny Jones in to handle the discipline side after RJ turned up drunk for training !.) Things might`ve been very different now. : )
Ok, shoot me down if you want to, but........the only other explanation is that Mick McCarthy was a brilliant motivational and tactical coach, and should still be here !
No matter what happens at the end of this season Wolverhampton Wanderers FC needs drastic surgery of some sort, player wise, managerial wise and upper management wise. Whether Dean Saunders is up to his part of that job is another matter.
UTW
Geoffers the wanderer
Well done boys.Booing at Steve Hunt, Kevin Doyle or Steve Morgan cant possibly help. I hate the booing mentality at Wolves, to be honest its a bit embarrasing. We've done it for a long time and we are still at the bottom of the championship. Lets get behind Deano and the team (especially if its not going well) and lets get out of this mess. Come on you wolves!!
Wellingtonwulf
I remember John McCall doing exactly the same,by returning a Phil Parkes goal kick much too firmly back towards the centre of the goal and big Phil was dozy enough to let it cross the line, against Ipswich Town at Portman Road,we eventually lost 0=2.
Phil was not blamed on that occasion as Carl Ikeme seems to have been.Welcome win against a rubbish team,we appeared to have better pace without KH to slow things down, but if Bakary Sako is out for a while with his pulled hamstring it will be a blow, but lets move up the table now and get to safety
The Flying Winger
I wish we had the likes of Phil Parkes, Geoff Palmer, Derek Parkin, john McCalle, Frank Munro, & Mike Bailey.
Even though as you say mistakes were made, what great players who could all move the ball quickly to the strikers.
At least the defence is now changing at last, so we can hopefully look to better times.
I think Batth has been hard done by.
The Flying Winger
I don't and have never agreed with booing players, what ever is thought about an individual he has been selected and unless he is mad he will try his best.
We have many players who have not been worth their place for far too long, but the Board have allowed that to continue it is they that are at fault for the position we are in.
I hope Saunders now realises the folly of trying to build a midfield around Edwards as I have said before he is injury prone and only lasts for a few games.
Hunt fair play to him did well today and much of the credit has to go to him, although he didn't do any favors with his comments about the fans.
It's also good to see SEB getting some goals and a few decent performances, another player who has been messed around by various managers.
Full credit for the team coming back from a dreadful mistake and Davis for getting through what must have been a very difficult game for him.
I hope that the 2 MM's however take note of the dire game it was and unless the team is strengthened by a striker and midfielder at least, we are not going to make enough headway to secure safety.
We have to get someone into bring cohesion and coordination to the play, how many times do they have to be told, it must also be a concern to have Sako injured.
Noisy
A very reasonable and balanced post FW. I think I agree with every sentence! I also agree that Henry and O'Hara is not a midfield (given O'Hara clearly is not fully fit). Given the alternatives Davis for Henry seemed sensible and positive, although whether it actually helped is open to question. For all his prowess in the air Gorkss looks like he needs an easy pass when he has the ball at his feet and if anything we spent more time (hardly seems possible) lumping the ball forwards to the giant that is SEB. Of course Saunders may have taken Davis off as well at half time if he'd had any subs left!

Well done, the Wolves! a clutch performance.
Fine and well that Wolves found their nerve to create a lightening strike comeback, all in la three minute window, then hold off another floundering team for all three points.
However, those around us , the likes of Tykes and Posh, both won as well, so joyous scenes of merriment and predictions of League Championship status should rationally be muted for another few weeks, should we, ourselves, like those two, find some much sought after form.
For today, I am wearing my 1974 League Cup winning retro jersey and enjoying the temporary bliss of not having it spend another weekend in moth-balls!

OK, I did the same as you - I wore the Puma white and teal of the `Bully` era after our win on Saturday. Only to bump into a couple of Baggie supporters at Wal Mart in Saint Cloud ! (and it isn`t the first time)
They and I exchanged pleasantries and it may surprise some on this site - THEY WANT US TO SURVIVE THIS NIGHTMARE AND RETURN TO THE EPL.

False dawn. Wolves are rubbish but clearly there is one team that is slightly worse!
I predict an escape by a place or two at best but its going to be close. Should have stuck with the stale one imo
Ukrainian Cossack
Hi guys,
I haven't been back on this site for months because it's been too depressing. As usual on a Saturday I've been on the vodka waithing for another defeat. Today my Ukrainian mates were again taking the p**s out of me as with 20 odd minutes to go we were one down. After another swig of vodka in the bookies I put 100 quid (equivalent) on a Wolves win at odds of 19 to one. Guess what the win will pay for my holiday in Barbados this year for me and my gorgeous young wife.
werewolf
Iwan Roberts, who consistently scored against us until we signed him, then scored a hat-trick against Sandwell Village for us, was booed by same South Bank whenever he failed to score every match. When he moved,on his comment was that the main problem at Wolves was the minority of boo-boys. I agreed with him then and nothings changed today. Now Iwan's regarded as a legend and he is one of our well remembered great players.
I like Hunty, his direct no nonsense style, which makes the most of his abilities. No silly step overs and passing backwards. The chap's just returned from injury and the knuckle draggers are booing before he even sets foot on the turf! Remember the manager sees him every day in training.
As for 'happy clappers' it's a long tradition for fans to applaud the team whenever they perform good moves. I hope this respectful appraoch never dies at Wolves.
old golds worth more
No player wearing a Wolves shirt (no matter how badly they have played) should ever be booed by a true Wolves Fan. If you want to have a go at them fine, but do it in these forums, booing players will only have one result and that is a negative one, given the situation we are in at the moment, we don't want or need any more negativity at matches thank you very much. Maybe in a sort of odd way, the own goal today may actually help us in the end. By that I mean Dorus De Vries was given a chance, Carl Ikeme has played well for us for most of the season, but if there is such a thing as an unlucky (for the team) player then Carl Ikeme fits the bill I'm afraid. Carl has been out on loan God knows how many times, yet as far as I am aware, no team has come in with a transfer bid for him, Middlesborough and Crystal Palace being two of his more recent loans out, so you have to ask yourself why is that? Perhaps an extended run in the team for Dorus De Vries will help answer that question, if we string together a run of wins, then what do you do? Stick with Dorus De Vries or revert back to Carl Ikeme!
TWG
With regard to slating Carl Ikeme, the lad must be she'll shocked and a nervous wreck after playing behind that defence all season ! If Saunders dropped him at half time and the 'injury' was convenient to say the least, then this was disgraceful man management. How many times has he saved us this season - remember Blackpool away for one !
Wolves 'til I die.
You are the South Bank and you need to grow up, grow up, grow up, you are the South Bank and YOU need to grow up !
Haling wolf
Most of the comments on here are understandable of course they are the last 20 minutes are what you turn up for , although the previous 70 is why people like me can't justify season tickets unfortunately ..
Pluses Doyle & Blakey scoring Doherty looks a real player Johnston solid enough dicky Davies will look better in a side full of confidence on the negative side ill be surprised if we ever see sako again & Deanos a coach not a relegation threatened manager we may also never know how good siggy could be because a 24 year old international with asperation of a good career isn't gonna want to go where we're goin I'm wolves till I die but can't help feeling let down by our mismanagement & making a profit isn't cause for celebration jez it's an indictment , we pay our money and I'd rather see that investment in a gold shirt rather than a balance sheet ..!
Watchman
Quote from Tim Nash, Wolves were awful, no confidence, cohesion, conviction, poor poor play !!
Everyone knows that players/teams lacking in confidence will not play to their true potential.
N.B. Notts Forest , Barnsley , Bolton , have all suddenly improved with new managers but the
same basic players. LESSON....The manager who imbues confidence in players gets results.
Conversely, managers lacking this quality breeds negative results, and team shows it when
players are afraid to be positive. SYMPTOMS....frequent back passing, disjointed play etc.
When bright young players like Davis/Ikeme start showing these traits...changes are needed.
Reality check...Stephen Hunt did Wolves a favour by saying, the crowd was embarrassing .
Of course he meant that section which booed him off and then on today (Saturday). These
disgraceful displays have a highly detrimental effect on the players, lowering their morale.
Nonetheless it was also interesting to note that one of the chief back passers did not play
today and the team came out with a win !! Midfield creativity must be a key to results.
Perhaps injuries to Sako and Edwards will see Doyle in midfield and Ward on left wing.
Siggo. on right wing and SEB and Pescko up front, its got to be worth trying hasn`t it ???
WOLVES PLAYERS ARE PLENTY GOOD ENOUGH, GIVE THEM YOUR TOTAL SUPPORT !!
Cheers.
Sam
So despite hunts performance, you reckon ward on the wing? Right...
Also siggy (a striker) on the right wing and peszco (a right winger) upfront?
All we need is Deano to find his best 11 with players playing in the right positions and stick to it

Not seen the match or any highlights yet but did the ikeme mistake knock his confidence? If not then again need to questiion ds tactics in effectively wasting a substitute by taking off a fully fit goalkeeper, who has been one of our better players, as punishment for his mistake. Surely we might have needed this sub later on. Anyway utw well done lads, boo boys jog on, ds still unconvinced but prove me wrong.
Old Man in Old Gold
The own goal was not the only mistake Ikeme made on the day. For whatever reason he was having a shocker and had not cleared the danger moments earlier in the corner and had also given the ball away when attempting a header when outside of his box when he should of just buried the ball to safety in the Steve Bull Upper Stand. By the time he went off at half time I would suggest DS had no choice but to sub him and offer the hand injury as a cover to give Ikeme a modicum of respect for his removal from the game.

Well done Hunty! These people are just morons. The football may not have been pretty today, but the result was. Look at the times the team has played well and come away with nothing.
To all of those morons, kindly stay away, you are not real supporters, just a bunch of idiots!

I may get slated for my comment, but i was one supporter who was glad we signed Steve Hunt. He's my type of winger, who looks to get down the line beat a man, and whip the ball into the box, for his centre forwards to get on the end of it. Plus he's a grafter, and a little pest, which opposing defenders hate marking. And he chips in with some good goals. As for today's game, the commentator's said it was a awful performance, but like i said last week, its not all about performances at this time of the season, especially were we are in the league at this moment in time. Its all about getting the 3pts,and grinding out results, like today, which may just keep us in the league. So i for one dont care to much about how well we play, as long as we get enough points to keep us in the Championship. Then we can rebuild for next season, and hopefully make a better fist of it, than we have this season, which as been dreadful on and off the pitch. WELL DONE THE LADS: UTW:

tomwolf im not slating you, just asking you in 3 seasons at wolves when have you seen hunt play as you have described?? how many games, goals and assists has he made?
manc andy
Well done wolves,3 points we needed,,the football was awful, i got wet through in the new 18 million pound stand and got snarled at by some headtheball for clapping hunt onto the field of play,Hunts just what wolves need in this situation at this stage of the season unfortunatly alot of the wannabie managers that boo him have less clue than Deano.I hope Doyles goal was the kick start he and the team need, how ever after watching wolves for years i know that this is not the begining of the end, or the end of the begining infact its just the middle of the begining,,keep the faith,,UTW

I hope you are right Manc about Doyle. I thought he would `come alive` after his brace at Bristol City, but it didn`t happen.
Doyle, in my opinion was destroyed, confidence wise, by playing as Mick`s lone striker up front.

Well done Steve Hunt, turned the game on its head, showed real passion and commitment, man of the match performance and although Sako is a good player going forward and will be a big miss, Hunt does track back and help out defensively ,Sako does not ,Hunt had the last laugh over the boo boys.

Disgusted with the idiots booing Hunty. He inspired the fight back with his tenacity. With another 10 battling the same we might just get out of this nightmare.
The Wolf Man
To the mindless idiots who booed Stephen Hunt when he came on shame on you, this is no time to be booing any of the players, how demorilising must that be for a player? We should be supporting our team win, lose or draw, booing the team will only rip the confidence that Dean Saunders is trying to instill back in to them. Stephen Hunt for me was man of the match today so I bet you wont be booing him after that performance will you?

Nice to enjoy a Saturday night after a victory. Makes a change don't it. The initial boos for Hunt were replaced by applause. And a number of us us applauded him down the tunnel at the end.Two good goals, three welcome points, lets build on this. Still need a cutting edge for Ebanks to feed off.And a 28 year old Alex Rae would not go amiss in midfield.

At last Henry dropped and we win.

If ever a game deserved to finish 0-0 then this was it!
It was truly shocking and the only conclusion I came to was that we will be playing Bristol city again next season in league1.
The 3 Pts was the only positive thing and although the injuries to sako and Edwards were unfortunate it could be a blessing in the sense that DS simply has to bring a couple of loan signings in now!
Well played hunt great assists for both goals!

well done hunty, proved all the doommongers wrong.......again.two wins in 18 or if you are an optimist two wins from three games.long way to go we are far from out of it,but i still beleive.although i think at times his choice of words in press confrences are totally of the wall,i still feel its not all bad and ds may in the long run prove to be a good move.we are all behind wolves hoping they will come good, except for some who if we were top of the prem would have something to moan at.we have a half decent run in and i for one wont ever give up hope

This win does not disguise that fact that Saunders is well out of his depth and the wrong man (AGAIN).
Cmon Morgan dont rely on your scouse pals and Moxey anymore... look where it has got us. Use your eyes and brain sack Saunders and replace hem with someone decent...plenty of good options out there. Any revival has to start with the Manager, and it aint Dean!!!

It's players like Hunt that will get us out of this mess, because he's fresh Boucari is probably a week away before he a return, so there is still hope for us. COME ON WOLVES.

Fair play to Stephen Hunt today; I've never been a big fan of his but he was the catalyst for Wolves' victory today. Let's hope he can continue to play in the same manner for the rest of the season. Also, well done to DS for having the strength to drop captain Karl Henry - keep Davis in the team; he can pass the ball forwards!!!!

The mystery is what happened to Ikeme. On TV Saunders indicated he was replaced for the mistake THEN back tracked and said it was a hand injury. Not gonna lose our heads - we should have destroyed City, but a win is a win.
Still in relegation zone, still played more games, still inept management but we blundered through.
TheWolfInNotts
I cannot believe that I come onto this website to see numerous fans still moaning about the team and management. Lets actually look at how the team have done over the past few weeks! Drew with Watford, beat Milwall! Lost to Forest (pretty much the in-form team in the league) and won today. All in all not too bad I think. Yes the performance was awful until we scored but we dominated after that. We have some quality in the team evidently. So instead of some of the idiots in the South Bank berating our team every game why not get behind the boys and help lift ourselves out of this mess!? UTW!
LEN THE TELFORD WOLF
A very poor performance for an hour. We showed a little more effort and passion after that with two quality goals from Ebanks-Blake and Doyle. The grounds response to the injury to Edwards and the arrival of Hunt (not just the much maligned South Bank) was a disgrace. Unfortunately, this is part and parcel of todays football fan. Just listen to Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Man City etc, supporters, they are always dripping! It's tough at the top!
Morgans knee jerk reaction to bringing in Saunders was a poor decision. Surely he must have heard on the grape vine of Nigel Adkins's impeding sacking at Saints (or someone of that ilk)? Anyway. It's Saunders and I hope he proves me wrong. A VERY welcome three points today. Forget what our rivals do. It's down to us. Both players and SUPPORTERS. Still 24 points to play for. Probably half of them will do! Four wins on the bounce? Easy! KEEP THE FAITH!

Len - I don't think SM has a connection to the grape vine. Now, a Director of Football probably would have had.

You're missing the point. The criticism of the morons who booed Stephen Hunt is because it has a detrimental effect upon not only Hunt but other players, particularly the youngsters and players we will want to keep for next season. Can't you and your mates see that ?
Please come back on and explain the thinking behind this unreasonable behaviour at a time when we need every ounce of effort (and no little skill) the players possess. Lets see if you can get beyond clichés and abuse and justify the damage you might be doing.
As for when SH was crap, I suppose in your little world all players should be wonderful all the time.
Wolves fan in Germany
It's been a while since i posted on here - lost for words most weeks this season but would like a couple of points to be considered;
- If SAKO is out how ironic it might be that Hunt will play the run in and who knows might repeat what he did on the last day of the season a couple of years ago!
- I agree de Vries is more than capable of a run in the team if that's the case (thoughts of Hahnemnan repalacing Hennessay a few years ago for the better at the time) spring to mind
- For all our crapness this season (watched us lose aginst Ipswich at xmas and at Leicester last month) teh worst 2 single performances i have witnessed Wolves playing - i look at the league table and Charlton in 14th palce only 5 pts ahead of us!! Certainly not over yet!
- Encouraging to see Henry on the bench. His impact for the team is now spent!
- In the last few years we have lost this type of '6 pointer' so credit where its due.
I pray we stop up, trim the squad massively, allow the youth a run and move forward under DS (no point in replacing whether we stay up or go won IMO).

Results matter more than performances right now. It really doesnt matter how we win.
We won today and i'm relived but what concerns me is the lack of fight and battling spirit in this side. when you look at Villa today what they lack in experience they make up for in spirit, and you can see they are really behind lambert.
I'm relived we won, but still not confident of our chances of survival. Deano is still finding his feet but I think his decision to leave Henry on the bench was positive and significant
Henry like foley, berra, ward have been underperforming for a long time, and have kept being picked.
Not sure if ikeme was injured but if Deano dropped him at half time for his gaff, then that was a big decision and the right one.
As for hunt, He has done nothing for 3 years apart from a goal against blackburn that kept us up. Booing him in my view is not a problem if it gets hims to play his part. Rooney,Tevez and odemwinge have all been booed by their fans but just get on with it and win the fans over with their performances NOT with talk in the E&S newspaper.
The Unhappy Wanderer
Some of our supporters really are unbelievable. Well done Stephen Hunt for showing how brainless the idiots who booed him are. Even on here, too many people are focusing on the performance rather than the result. Fair enough it wasn't great, but confidence is on the floor, and yet the players kept going right to the end and refused to accept defeat, something that wasn't happening earlier in the season. This was a "must win" and we won it. I'd have settled for that at 3pm.
NORTH BANK VETERAN(The Best Stand)
I have been sick to the teeth with the South Bank MOANERS for decades, they have got rid of many GOOD Managers in the past. I hold you!! responsible for our present position!!!
DO NOT COME TO MOLINEUX! You are not Wolves fans, you even booed Mark Kennedy, our captain, when he equalised in one game at Molineux!!!!!???
Congratulations to Hunt, Man of the Match, 100% effort an example to all.

I agree that booing is totally counter-productive, however most of the South bank clapped Hunt on in response to the idiots who admittedly are in there (there was one just behind me). However at least we get behind the team too - where did O'Hara look to get the crowd going? I do come from a long line of generations of North bankers, but when I had a season ticket in there while the SB was rebuilt I struggled to stay awake through games!
simon
North Bank- we wolves fans pay good money to watch some pathetic football over the last 3 seasons and have a right to vent our anger. By the empty seats I see, many are just not turning up.
Players like Hunt are on very good money and like a few others in the squad have contributed little or nothing.
If booing hunt gets him to wake up and produce the goods then good, but also remember that hunts contract expires in the summer and him actually trying harder is because he wants to get an extention.
As for GOOD managers, Mick and Stale, and Dave jones have all contributed to their own down fall by relying on the same players like Hunt,Henry, ward,Berra who have let them down.
Remember its the managers who buy the players and pick the team not the fans
forever
You're so right lost count of the players they've had a go at if it's not Ward, Berra, Stearman, Henry and now Hunt, it's Doyle, Ebanks, Johnson, O'Hara(not really many left to have a go at) for years they've done it, I remember John McCall. Danny Hegan and lots more I can't remember they even had a go at Bully, knuckle draggers is the right word, Do they really think this helps? 3 of the deadwood(as they call them) got us out of this a bit of praise wouldn't go amiss....

Probably the worst game I have watched in 35 years. Deano seems completely out of his league and we're running out of time, so it needs to change NOW. 3 points is welcomed but we must put a run together. Booing Hunt was wrong, but he proved the boo boys wrong. Now's the time to get behind the team and will em on.......!
Rocking Ronie
Massive result today, possibly the most important of the season. Lets hope the team can build on this and progress to safety!!
On a sour note, the booing of Hunt today was an utter disgrace.
The South Bank should be shut down, and everyone in the south bank today should be banned for life. Scum.

How dare you generalise in this manner. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, satanise the entire South Bank. As I said earlier, I was there and NOBODY anywhere near me (and I sit in the middle) booed - in fact they stood up and applauded. Nor did anyone near me sing the song about Morgan, although I could hear it in the distance. I am too angry with your sanctimonious prate to be able to add any more.

Everyone in the south bank was booing, every last one, like a bunch of rabid animals. It was like someone had chucked a firework into the gorrila cage at dudley zoo. A real embarrasment. Hence that stand should be shut down, and all the so called fans banned.

GERRY HARRIS OWN GOAL
Over the years there has been a sector of the Wolves fans who look to make a scapegoat out of certain players.I can remember nearly 50 years ago the way the fans hounded Alan Hinton out of the club.He like others who have left have come back to haunt us.The trouble is now that many Wolves players are spent forces and Wolves do not appear to have much in reserve if they continue to play them instead of some of the younger players.Well we are stuck with them until the end of the season'
Staying up is the number one priority and we have to back what we have got to the hilt.
chris h
The first match I went to was 50 years ago this month(I think), against Fulham. The great Johnny Haynes was playing for them. But we had Ron Flowers and Peter Broadbent and I can remember a young Alan Hinton getting stick that day.Yet he made one and scored one.He was not the most aggressive player to say the least and he got some stick at Forest and even Derby where he won a championship medal. I don't think our fans are any worse than others, especially given how much we have had to put up with, and at times Wolves fans give excellent support such as Wembley 74 and 80 plus Cardiff 2003.We just need Morgan and Moxey to manage the club properly and give us something to shout about. And I don't think it was the fans that got rid of Hinton, that was down to Stan Cullis,he liked aggresive players didn't he.
Orlando Wolves
I have been a supporter for 55 years, and Wolves supporters have always targeted players for crowd abuse. Stuart, Mason, the Harris brothers, Deeley, Murray, Hinton, Wharton, Bailey, McCall, Holsgrove, Palmer....the list is endless.
This is one of the reasons why Wolves have won nothing of note for years now. What self respecting player would want to subject themselves to the treatment Stephen Hunt received on Saturday ?
Then, the same abusive fans wonder why we haven`t signed anyone for midfield or a striker.
Joe Wilson's Clog
Booing a player as he runs on the pitch is despicable.Players need to be given a fair go while they are playing. The fans are the paying customers and have the right to show their discontent but please give them a chance first.
Orlando Wolves

Wolves fans should unite? other football clubs reactions when they come to molinuex will be focused on the size of the club and reactions from the fans to the players and the board, word gets around. it's no good being negative this is an easy root for visiting Teams, believe me they love it.

Now is the time for each and every fan to get behind the players at all times. There are one or two players that I don`t think are anywhere near good enough but we have to get behind them.As for our manager he is well out of his depth--nuff said. Then there is our great owner,I do not agree with the chants that I am told went on Yesterday but he should really come out and become an owner, take charge, get rid of Moxey and bring in a football man.The problem is our owner doesn`t really care and knows that whatever happens will cost money and he can`t spend money on a team and a building site at the same time.Yes it`s time to sell up Morgan and make that vast proffit on your £10.
goldenwonders
Totally agree - If we are to stand a chance of avoiding relegation it is going to need every Wolves fan to shout them on until they've got no voice left. Yes we have some pretty useless players in this team, overpaid primadonas who think they are special! The manager is useless - and he talks rubbish, he is never going to get us anywhere and if any fans think different then they must be blind! I am sick of all Saunders friends in football saying what a good manager he 'will' be - that's no good to us, this is a crisis! We have an owner and a CEO that are equally as useless and have no intention of spending anything on the Wolves as it always was and is (at the moment) a cash cow!
To boo players while they are playing does no good for anyone - after the game maybe - I certainly cannot argue with anyone who thinks they deserve a good ear bashing - but mostly I think that should be saved for Moxey and Morgan.
jojowolves
Dear boo boys, how on earth is booing one of our players before they have kicked a ball going to help a team that is shot to bit for confidence? Don't you think it plays into the hands of the opposition. It isn't rocket science to work that out. Yes Hunt was rubbish last time but he wasn't fit and Deano should have known better than play him. We wouldn't have scored yesterday without him and he is up for the fight which is more than you can say for most of them. Maybe he is more suited to the scrap we are in than Sako. We've got 4 more home games so how about frightening the opposition instead of our team. Yes I know we are watching rubbish but the season isn't over yet so are you up for playing a part in getting behind the team. They can play, we saw that for 20 minutes yesterday but they don't need the crowd on their backs. UTW

In Wolves' desperate position, a win's a win, no matter how you get it, so I'll gratefully take it, thanks. Much credit must go to our team for fighting back in the face of great adversity, but it cannot disguise an unbelievably shocking performance prior to the equaliser, no matter how much I'd like to turn a blind eye.
I see several on here are criticising the South Bank fans for unnecessary abuse. With respect, folks, not all South Bankers joined in, so don't tar everyone with the same brush. I certainly wasn't one of them. In fact, many South bankers were angry at the response by their fellow fans, and quite rightly, too. Save cat-calling for the final whistle and never before, please, because the team needs our support during play. Trust me, the club will get your message just the same.
Sure, it's a massive blow losing Sako, but we have no time to feel sorry for ourselves because there's work to do. What a great pity we don't have a Mike Bailey, Paul Ince or Alex Rae type of warrior out there on the pitch; with fire in their bellies and leading by example. Sadly, it's what's missing from this brittle side.

KERLEY
I BOOED HUNT WHEN HE APPEARED.....FOR HIS SCANDALOUS PUBLIC OUTBURST AGAINST US....HE WAS OUT OF ORDER TO CRITICIZE US AND I LET HIM KNOW IT....HUNT IF YOU DONT LIKE EARNING £30,000 PER WEEK AS A BOTTOM OF THE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALLER....THEN GO GET A FACTORY JOB AT £200 A WEEK....IF YOU CAN GET ONE....WHERE YOU WONT BE PUBLICLY BOOED.
HOWEVER, WHEN HE SET THE FIRST GOAL UP...I CHEERED WHEN HE SET THE SECOND GOAL UP....I CHEERED....WHEN HE WAS BACK LAST DITCH DEFENDING IN INJURY TIME....I APPLAUDED...
HUNT........YOU BOUGHT ON THE BOOS....BUT THEN YOU BOUGHT ON THE CHEERS....THATS LIFE BEING A PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLER....SO....LET S MOVE ON!
Orlando Wolves
Whilst I admire your honesty, booing players before they have kicked a ball for your club is unacceptable, and, supporters who do so, are at the opposite end of the evolutionary scale from what is required to support Wolves.
Lord Molineux
His criticism of you and your pals was thoroughly correct. Even the dimmest amongst you will know Hunt always gives his all. Yes, he was woefully short of match fitness against Watford, but, to cheer his substitution was a complete disgrace.
You also need to understand the dynamics of the market place, i.e. supply and demand. Factory workers are unlikely to be paid £30k a week and professional footballers £200. Sad but true.
simon
lord molinuex can any wolves player look themselves in the mirror and say they have given their all this season???? i dont think so.
also hunt as a professional on 30k plus a week should not be totally off the pace as he was at watford. thats totally unacceptable. at this stage of the season.
Lord Molineux
Simon, para one. Totally agree, that's why we're in the mess we are .
Para two. Very few players, if any, can come back from a long term injury and slot straight into a professional football match whatever the stage of the season.
Maybe Dean Saunders was the one to blame for picking him to start such an important match, with no reserve games, no behind closed doors games or even substitute appearances behind him.
Orlando Wolves
Simon - As was said above, Hunt was selected to play against Watford when he was `woefully unfit` having come back from a lengthy injury.
It wasn`t his fault that he was picked for the team when a fully fit Peszko was available for selection.
simon
lord molineux,
yes i do agree with your 2nd post. Hunt was brought back far too early and before he had proved his fitness. deano has to take it on the chin for that
Aidkil
"Morgan out" you cretins....and boo a man who works his knacks off oh and saved us from drop a few years ago...morons..
I agree Moxey should be gone his daily running of the club is a disaster but who else will buy the club,,Bhattis two..Venkies cousins? Cause I don't see a sheik looking at Wolverhampton as a potential global brand..
Some times its embarrassing to stand in the south bank...

WHAT has hunt done for the last 3 .and half .years.? ill tell you NOTHING,no he didnt save us from relegation with that goal. .spurs were beating brum so we were safe. yesterdays performance was woeful,we got out of jail, morgan, poxey and saunders got out of jail. for all the happy c.lappers who object to protest against the board, what do you want a rich club in div2,a nice big empty staduim. capt morgan and the fat controller have ignored us fans for the last 2 years, steam rolling over us,but banking our hard earned money. no club has a devine right to be anywhere, you are where you are through merit. but this club has been run absolutely disgracefully. the board think we wolves fans are stupid, that we dont know how many millions have gone into the coffers after 3 seasons in the prem.have to keep repeating myself, they stuck with a manager, who didnt have a clue, and even better gave him millions to waste. they then decided to sack him when it was too late. and dont even go into this season,we have become a laughing stock, some thing you can normaly fend off with banter,or a defence for the argument. if morgan, isnt intrested with wolverhamton wanderers the football team, please leave,SELL OUR CLUB, to somebody who does.

How many times do you have to be told you are wrong about the sequence of event in the last game v Blackburn and Spurs v Blues?
south bank wolf
i totally disagree booing hunt on and ironically cheering him off against watford i sit in the south bank i get sick of being tarred with the same brush as every other "fan" in the south bank i do support the team whats more of a disgrace was roger johnson putting his hands to his ears after the game as if to say "cant hear ya" we chanted his name all season after last season episode then it just gets thrown back in our faces thanks a bunch!!!!
woeful game yesterday decent team would have battered us.
its not saunders fault players to blame
lets try n survive this season and clear the lot out in the summer
True_Wolf
Yes, some fans did boo hunty. But to be fair, the majority of the Southbank did clap him after the small amount boo'ed.
If Sako's is out for some time, then Saunders needs to use those Liverpool connections, along with Mr Morgan, to get Raheem Sterling on loan. He, along with a 'big, strong' striker is desperately needed. Ricardo Vaz Te or Kenwyne Jones, I don't know about availability, but these are two options we could go for. On the cheap, we could try and go for Kevin Davies from Bolton. He could easily do a job till the end of the season, and our tactics (Which seem quite obvious, the long ball) would suit him too.
UTW!

Behave .....use his connections in his dreams he's fast becoming a laughing stock
As with everything else put out by the management its all smoke and mirrors to keep us on board .
Quality counts
For goodness sake, we beat the worst team in the league ! Check again all you fans that are jumping for joy. I think you will find the win achieved stability. We are where we started the day relegation bound, that's reality

Yes but the stats tell us we`re the second worst team in the league, so a good result i`d say.

Wow what a day.Wolves win.Wales win.Been wolves for ever since 1967.come on wolves show your teeth. And show the boo boys to show how it is done.Up the Wolves.
Sir Billy Quiet
English Exile - When was the last time you posted anything positive about the Wolves?
Posting negative comments from afar whilst watching online - brilliant support - glad you don't get to games....................
Farmer Ted - we won - but still some 'fans' that post on here would prefer to slag the team off - confidence comes from winning and enjoying playing in front of their 'own' fans. The booing of Hunt contributed massively to the performance. Hunt had the b*lls to speak out against the boo boys and backed it up with a performance to match.
Ask the Welsh if the supporters carried Wales to a massive win over England in the rugby Cardiff yesterday? Supporters do matter and play a part in lifting the team - Villa Park yesterday helped the teanm to three points - ask any player at any club if the fans matter - you will get a massive yes.
A lot of posters claiming to be supporters need to wake up a recognise that they are part of the problem - booing, ironic chants and cheers - sorry but there a lot of people need to take a long hard look in the mirror - yes, including Morgan and Moxey - but they have admitted their mistakes and vowed to put it right.
Will the negative 'supporters' hold up their hands and get behind the team? Morgan out? whats the alternative - recievership? only a fool would call for Morgan to leave the Wolves - idiot comments from supporters that can't offer (or think of) an alternative - get real.
Why should I not attack those that wish to slag off the club that I support? if you want to come on here posting negativity about Wolverhampton Wanderers then expect to get some abuse back.
At what point will these so called Wolves supporters stand up and be counted??? the team needs the fans NOW get behind them 100% or stay at home.
Calling me a Happy Clapper is laughable - clapping and cheering is why I go to football, when did booing and chanting against the club and players become part of being 'supporter'?
21,000 at Molineux yesterday - how many went to boo Stephen Hunt? a pathetic minority......................
I am Wolves fan and proud of it - stand up if you love the Wolves and show it!

Billy, you come up with the same boring rubbish every week.Change the record.

We need everyone behind every player at the moment, cuz its as good as we are going to get for the remainder of the season !! There is only 7 points separating 13 teams at present - Survival is very definitely do-able !!

Looking at the bottom end of the table, it is possible that with 8 games left we could just scramble clear of the drop. I would not put money on it, but it could work out that way. My worry is that there is no longer a bond between the players and the fans. I'm sure that when Hunt was booed, the shoulders of the rest of the team would have sagged never mind his. This booing, and the obscene chanting against SM, is further undermining our chances of staying up. You'd hope that even those of limited IQ would realise that, but apparently not. What good can it possibly do? None, only further harm. Credit to Hunt's character for proving his detractors wrong. Not every player would have been able to do that - but the man has got guts. A lot has gone wrong at the club, but for the sake of its future - we should back what we've got in an effort to survive. Let the recriminations begin after we know our fate.
chris h
Solent, I think the mood changed greatly with those two goals. For the first 60 minutes or so things looked hopeless. But two class goals lifted everybody, fans and players alike. When they got into the lead I thought they showed a collective determination to not lose it.If they could bring in a decent target man and midfielder,I think we could avoid the drop.If they don't then I think we will not score enough goals and end up relegated. As ever it is down to Steve Morgan and Jez Moxey.
Orlando Wolves
Let`s hope the fightback started with those two goals,. We need it !
Tividale Wolf
Well I've deliberately not posted on here since Deano took charge and therefore avoided a knee jerk reaction to his results as manager. I was hoping that he was going to be the right man but now I'm convinced he's not. Some of his comments leave a lot to be desired. There is a big difference between enthusiasm and realism. In such circumstances its better to just keep your mouth shut and do your talking on the pitch. His tactics in some games have been baffling and he may have taken on more than he can chew.
Yesterday's first half showed exactly why both teams are at the bottom. Once again we couldn't produce a shot on goal, except the one into our own net, which is hardly surprising as our midfield was non existent. Edwards was virtually a passenger on the right and when the going gets tough, he usually doesn't get into a game, so it was little surprise that he went off injured. Which brings me to Hunt. Now I,ve been a supporter for over 50 years and can never remember when a player wearing a gold and black shirt has been booed by a section of our own supporters before he has gone on the pitch, you morons should be ashamed of yourselves. Well done to Hunty who just got on with his game and set up both goals. However a performance like this is not gonna keep us up, and when Sako went off injured I did sense that our season may have gone with him. It's up to the management to now find someone who can replace Sako's goal threat , and as we've been waiting all month during this loan spell, don't hold your breathe.....................
Toronto Wolf
Always liked Hunt. Played hurt previously, and just coming off long term injury.
Relentless runs, and tries every time.
Some of these comments are just so hard to take!!!

We need some quality loan signings, i know a lot of fans won't agree but can we make an effort to get odemwinge from down the road on loan for remainder of season? He is unhappy and is a quality striker that can rescue us from this dire situation.
wolfshead
Well done Stephen Hunt, what a reply to the boo-boys. Hope we'll see more of you in the remaining matches - you are always going to be a handful for any defenders, a real terrier, as someone above posted.
Enjoy the St Pat's you deserve it, along with Doyler and the rest of the gang.
Golden Wonder
Yeah we were poor for most of the game but three points is all that matters at the end of the day.
Booing Hunt probably made him more determined and although i have never been his biggest fan, he created the chances for our goals and we need to stick together as our situation is still desperate.
Squeaky bum time as Fergie would say.
Moline us Heights
It was a dire game.
No sense of rhythm or purpose about the team. Bristol City whilst organised were a poor team, no doubt assembled on a shoestring in comparison to our team.
Robinson made some good challenges and was up to the fight however, the first half was the worst I have ever seen from a Wolves side.
What concerns me is the loss of Sako obviously, as well as the complete lack of fitness of Jamie O'hara.
Wolves have a sports psychologist however, that mental support is not showing itself on the pitch. The team is so fragile in the head it is untrue. In the last 15 minutes the team seemed to click, and that was before we got the goal. Then their heads were up and we seemed to find something.
I think Devries should be given a go now, keep out Ward and Henry and try to keep to the same line up that finished the game.
I'll take the three points no matter how we played however, I don't believe the players genuinely believe they can do it, never mind the fans.
100%Wolf
Seems to be a lot of focus and debate on Stephen Hunt in the above comments and over the last few weeks.
As I see it, this 4m / 4.5m / 5m player (Jez prefers to withhold transfer fee information so make your own mind up!) has yet to deliver sustained performances to justify the price tag. Obviously injuries have played a part in Hunty not being able to establish himself but maybe his comments/rant about the fans recently played a part in the frosty reception he received yesterday.
Personally I believe the vast majority were booing the decision, prefering Siggy to take the field, but as many have said the booing was swiftly replaced by clapping and cheering ending in a terrific reception for him to take the field....not bad for somebody who had publicly slated the fans recently? GREAT SUPPORT !!!!!
Also, can we please dispelled the myth that he kept us up with THAT goal........he didn't.
TJ
I would just like to say that all fans who booed when HUNT came on are a disgrace . to boo when already heads down and also to make HUNT feel what am i doing here , is shamefull fans like that we dont need , HUNT went on to make the goals and to me was man of the match .. hang your heads in shame
Solentwolves
Quite right. Nothing will be gained by booing our own players - quite the opposite in fact. Those who boo, especially when a guy is coming on, make themselves part of the problem.
bringbacksammychung
Has nobody noticed this is worst "football" (if that's what you can call it) we have played since the 1980`s when we were plummetting through the leagues. Dean Saunders has no idea what he is doing, we have no plan and all we do is play sidewards, backwards and then hoof it! Even after victory against a team as bad as us on Saturday he has to go. It has got worse since he came, he should do the decent thing and resign!!!!
Frantic Friday
No doubt Hunt will be offerd a new 5 year contract after his match winning display on Saturday.Same as edwards who scores one goal at Millwall and then gets offrered an extension to his contract, and then does nothing else apart from get injured again with even he has a regular occurence back injury, dont we ever learn...And know you are all going on about Hunt how wonderful he is.Well, in his time being at Molineux what return have we had from him..!!!
Looking for a Striker Dean???
How about WILL GRIGGS. He plays just down the road DEAN.
We have bought excellent players from Walsall in the past.
Not that you would know.
DancesWithWolves
Deano must have used the Sir Alex hairdryer approach at half-time. Whatever, it worked. My guess is that he said, 'you can bloody well go down , but you're not taking me with you. If you lose this one, I'm outta here!' We could probably have won 4-0 in the end. Shame that our players need to be shamed into a performance, but there's now light at the end of the tunnel if they can keep this up. Out of darkness cometh light? I never thought it would get so bloody dark and for so long.
christopher
I'm sure Deano said 3 wins and we would be up with forest. Come on You Wolves...

last 4 games......wwfc1-watford 1
milwall 0 wwfc 2
forest3 wwfc 1
wwfc 2 bristol 1
thats 7 points from the last 12
with 8 games left and wwfc only 6 points from 13 placed derby.
and for all those saying bristol were poor , may be in this game they were but in their last four games they have.
drew with blackpool and brighton, and beaten middlesboro 2-0 and kept 3 clean sheets before they played us.
so were they that bad or did we make them look that bad?
i did'nt go saturday, so cannot comment on the performance, recently some posters have been betting on wwfc losing games, getting relegated, saunders getting sacked, etc.
i bet there were a fair few betting slips getting torn up at 4.45 sat evening, lol.

Quite possibly the worst first half at Molineux since 1985. Dean Saunders will ensure that these woeful performances will remain. Jez Moxey and Steve Morgan will never make Wolves a big club again.
In 8 months Walsall will be above us,mark my words.
Wolves are a pathetic shambles and get what they deserve.

Will somebody please get an answer from Wolves why they aren't playing Peszko? It's crazy, when he was injured we were 3rd and we have the right to be told why he's not being given a chance.

if he plays again i think wolves have to pay an extra £500grand to his parent club, so the old and wise on the mol board have decided to risk us going down instead and loosing millions.
New York Wolves
Stephen Hunts Irish Terrier enthusiasm should not be mocked. His goal against Blackburn two years ago saved our Premier League status and his assists for both goals on Saturday may well prove to be the saving grace this season. Thank you Stephen! Boo Boys stay home.
Tony Maloney
Wolves will win more games with Sako and Doumbia OUT OF THE TEAM.
FACT.
Come on Wolves (from a WBA fan)
Im an Albion fan so obviously I dont watch Wolves everyweek, but when I do and Hunt plays, he is usually ONE of the very few who gives it 100% and doesnt stop working hard, so I cant understand why you are booing him when there is 20 players worse than him!!
When we battered you he was the only player who didnt give up at all.
You lot have got to stop moaning and pull together as one! if you have any chance of staying up. I dont want to have to wait another 10 years for the next Albion v Wolves derby!!!

That was the way for Hunt to reply by doing it on the pitch not insulting the fans. HE like 99% of the team will need to go at the end of the season whatever division we are in as he has had his best days and cannot improve any further.
For you 'so called fans calling each other names -grow up.Every one has a right to voice their opinion even if it is rubbish.Every time the South bank has had a go at the board or the player s we have come back.I hope they continue to do this and we can stop up. This has been the worst season of football i have ever seen and i have been watching Wolves since 1966.We need a football director in the club and a total clear out of players.Get a good coach who can bring on the good youngster.Keep it up all of you n other club would get our crowds watching such rubbish, Wolves ay we!!!!

"Put it like this: I’ve paid my wage bill in terms of what I’ve done in two or three important games."
Two or three games, and you think you've paid your wage bill, when you've been here three months shy of three years? It's no wonder people are booing you onto the pitch when you come out with stuff like that, Mr Hunt. Anyone know what Hunt's weekly wages are? I can feel my maths nerve twitching.
bilodave
Pete that's exactly what I thought when I read his statement. A little bit of quiet humility wouldn't go amiss with some players. It reminds me of the titles in "have I got news for you" where the cartoon footballer drives on to the field in his rolla scores a penalty and drives off again. Talk about life imitating art!,!
manc andy
ye i noticed that aswell, perhaps he likes been the pantomin villian, maybe he wants us to boo him till we are blue in the face coming out with crap like that. From zero to hero and back to zero in the space of 48 hours,,lol.
JDG
My thoughts precisely. One game per season (on average) does not justify a wage bill. Who does he think he is? Santa Claus? It is comments like this which bring players into disrepute, and shows that they are on a totally different planet to the rest of us.
So, Mr Hunt, I would not boo you for playing to the best of your ability. I would not boo you for giving 100%. But I will give you the Right Royal Order of the Raspberry for thinking you are earning your wages.
chris h
Pete, 1 The point he is making is that goal against Blackburn, kept us in the Premier for another season, and as a result we earned circa £38m alone last season in Sky money. It was an individual goal that he made for himself when time was running out, and so I think he is right he has earned his money.
2 How was the grub? Better than the pork at the Newhampton ?
PeteNuts
So you're happy with a player who assesses himself like that? "Never mind 90% of the season, I banged in that curler against Blackburn, didn't I? So lay off!" seems to be the gist of what he / you are saying. Not the best attitude to take into a 46 game season.
I didn't go to the game, I was up in Liverpool with my friends' new-born curled up in my arms at around about kick-off time. Some things are more important than football.
I'm not aware of pork on the Newhampton menu, but then I only have eyes for the steak and ale pies with dippy chips.
chris h
Pete, I want him to play well every week, but that goal financially was very important. As for the Newhampton, didn't you go on about the red wine and quality pork baps, week after week on here,a couple of seasons back? I may have the wrong pub but not the pork baps?
PeteNuts
Yeah, I get what you mean, but it's not really for a player to gauge his performance according to how financially useful it is when he decides to put in a good one! Hunt for the most part has been very disappointing but if he does come good over the course of the run-in and send a few more delightful curlers into the top corner (after all, he probably wants to put himself in the shop window) then he'll certainly have added a bit more weight to the argument in his favour.
Yeah, the pork baps are no more, now it's all about the Mad O'Rourke pies, which if anything are even better. You flip the lid off, you dip your chips. I was home last week and managed to fit in three in five days...
