Bristol City clash 'must win' to Wolves manager
Wolves manager Dean Saunders today admitted Saturday’s crunch game against Bristol City has become a ‘must win’ if the club are to beat relegation.
Barnsley’s 2-1 win over Brighton last night and Peterborough’s 1-1 draw at Leeds left Wolves in deep trouble, second from bottom and two points from safety going into Saturday’s crunch game against new basement side Bristol City.
The Tykes leapt out of the drop zone to fourth-bottom, and still have another game in hand, although it’s at leaders Cardiff on April 9.
And Saunders confessed: “It’s a six-pointer – we’ve got to win this game because if we don’t they jump above us and we’ll have another team to get past.
“We’re level on points with them so it will make a big difference if we win on Saturday.
“That means they’ve got to get two good results to go above us.”
Saunders urged relegation-haunted Wolves to make the most of Molineux and exploit the Championship’s current ‘vulnerables’.
Wolves host the Robins before the visit of out-of-form Middlesbrough two weeks later.
Saunders’ side then have a St Andrew’s derby at inconsistent Birmingham and a trip to improving Bolton before another Molineux double against struggling Huddersfield and play-off chasing Hull.
He said: "I said to the lads we have got Bristol City, who are down at the bottom with us, then Middlesbrough who have been struggling.
“Then we play Birmingham, who are near us, then Bolton – who have just turned it around.
“We’ve got four home games in the next six, so we’ve now got some games coming up where we can actually look forward to saying we can win. If we win the four home games, we’ll be alright.”
Saunders’ optimism is tempered by Wolves winning just one of their last 14 at Molineux going back to September 29. But the manager believes form goes out of the window at this time of the season.
He said: “At the end of every season, there will be teams winning that haven’t won.
“Teams manage to put a run together and they stay up. QPR might do it, and they had only won two games all season before winning the last two.”

must win ,or will be sacked ,with any luck ,
Tony
Not sure how he hasn't been sacked already. Steve Morgan told the fans parliament our squad is the 10th highest net spending squad in the country. Surely any manager who inherits the country's 10th most expensively assembled squad ought to deliver more than one win out of 11 Championship games.
Fletcley
With any luck this guy will get sacked.
Dont think The MM's have the jacobs.
DS is about to take us down.
Help!!!!!!!
The Doc
Here we go again with another instalment of Back to the Future. Tommy Docherty said "we don't use a stopwatch for our golden goal competition. We use a calendar" when he was managing Wolves (badly) 30 years ago. And he had a 18.8% win percentage, which Sinkin' Deano can only dream of ! The only thing Saunders might replicate will be taking us down to the 3rd (in old money) Just go, Deano, just go.

I wish Venky's owned our club...

Very harsh to blame Dean Saunders. Blame lies with Morgan and Moxey for appointing an unproven manager and players for their ineptitude. At least Sanders has had the courage to drop some of the under-achievers. Just wish he'd drop the one player who deserves demotion most; namely Karl Henry.
Morgan's Conscience
Another MUST WIN GAME.
IF WE WIN THE NEXT FOUR HOME GAMES WE'LL BE ALRIGHT.
What Saunders should have said is that IF WE DON'T WIN SATURDAY THEN I WILL RESIGN AT FULL-TIME.
Saunders comments are a joke gone to far. It's the same lines that a useless lover would make. I'm sorry that I didn't satisfy you but if you let me I'll try to do better next time.

Not sure? Could be a cross between the boardroom and the bedroom? Either way its probably somewhere where Deano is going to get a right rogering!

Quite funny really. When you mention making love you normally make it in bed or in slang it's in the SACK. Saunders may have a double SACK come Sunday morning.

To win four games on the run you have to score. If you keep firing blanks then you will neither win games or make babies. Perhaps Moxey, Morgan and definately Saunders are all impotent. Ha, Ha.

Heard the one about the stand up comic DS. To satisfy a lover at least one item needs to stand up and it's not definately not your CV.

Birmingham are seven points ahead of us Dean! Get real. We lose to Bristol and we are down.

Too right. After a win for Barnsley and a draw for Peterboro last night anyone casting a quick look at the Championship table will see we're level on points at the bottom, but have a slightly better GD than Bristol City. Sadly I think that will be gone after Saturday. Saunders, Go. Its up to the players now. Come on You Wolves!

All of our games are "must wins" Dean. We are now second from bottom and the teams around us are getting the odd result from time to time.
What worries me is that we are losing more or less every match we play and yet you seem to think that we're playing OK! That smacks of someone who cannot or will not identify what the problems are within this badly under-performing team and therefore it doesn't bode well for our future.
I hope the team can find the performances to get us out of this terrible mess we're in i really do.

Aren't the fans Parliament supposed to ask those sort of questions? Surely if they did, and then at least one of them came into this forum and gave us the answers, all this constant slagging off of the to two M's would stop? I am not immune from having a go myself, and I find it very puzzling not to mention frustrating, that most of us haven't got a clue about what's actually going on! Even the E & S aren't reporting anything that we don't supposedly already know, which is very little. What happened to the supposed ten questions that Swain was going to put to Morgan at the fans Parliament meeting? If he did indeed ask those questions then what were the answers? The E & S certainly didn't publish them. All we got from Morgan was a heartfelt (reportedly) sorry, but no answers to the questions the majority of us wanted to hear.
I my case I'd like to know exactly why we appointed TC then SS and finally DS, especially as Morgan reportedly said that we need a good experienced manager in the post, in fact the three that were hired are the exact opposite, WHY?
So come on any members of the fans Parliament, find out what happened and tell us why, or what is the point of your existence, unless of course your all just a mutual back slapping society!
DerbyWolf
Yes they did ask about why TC and why SS and Morgan gave his reasons for signing the 'experienced ' Saunders. I can give you about 65 pages of extracts if you want

“We’re level on points with them so it will make a big difference if we win on Saturday." Really? Well stap me vitals; I would never have been able to work that one out for myself. I must confess to being slightly more intellectually challenged by, "At the end of every season, there will be teams winning that haven’t won." However, we did have to wait a little longer for today's meaningful insight according to the Blessed Saint Saunders, so maybe it is the joint effort of the entire propoganda squad.

So depressing....
Wolves have phoned me many time over the past 3 days to try and buy tickets for the Bristol game... practically begging me! knocking money off and the booking fee (if they can sell tickets with out a booking fee then why do we have it in the first place!!) They were only going to sell me one ticket at a disscount but I said I wanted 2 and they agreed. ( I was going to go anyways, lol...)
I wanted to goto the Bristol game because I want to show my support for the Wolves club (even if it does line the pockets of the ones at fault) but I dont want to see my club relagated to the Div 1 !! So I will show my support and do as much as I can to help the team win.... during the game that it. Now is not the time to stay away from the club we need to pull together and get out of this mess.
Praying for the win on Sat !!!!

Another showdown at Mol and for all the wrong reasons! The level and consitency of the incompetence that has got us here is astonshing.
If we win Saunders should go, he is out of his depth and is the wrong man for the job. Ther a re better managers available and hopefully Morgan & Moxely NOW understand that the Mnager is crucial for any success or not.

I can't be there on Saturday, but I will be anxiously following the game on the Wolves' Blog from here in Hampshire. I hope that those who can go, will fill the ground and get right behind the team. To lose this one is unthinkable. We must put our differences aside and all aim for survival. The rebuilding we were promised has obviously been on hold since Solbakken was sacked. If it is to resume, it will be better from the Championship rather than from League 1. We have to beat Bristol City.
Realistic Wolf
From what I understand the rebuilding is not on hold. With Deano we are the process of pressing on regardless and dismantling it. Sad times my friends.

I would think every supporter and his dog knows that this is a crunch match that may ultimately decide our fate. Lose, and I'm afraid the game is up as far as avoiding relegation is concerned.
However, I see no reason why, having soundly beaten them at their place only a few months ago we cannot do the same at Molineux. They may have had a new manager in the meantime who has lifted their morale and confidence, but basically they are the same players.
A positive attitude by both players and supporters is required. If ever there was a time to get behind the team, then 3.00pm Saturday 16th March is it. Make it happen!

100% Wolves on Saturday - anyone who wants to use the match as an excuse to boo or moan needs to stay away.
This is our club and the supporters can carry us to victory.
This is our club, the supporters, and we need to get behind it NOW 100%.
Managers, Directors, Owners and Players will come and go but we supporters will always be there every Saturday - Premiership or Division 2 - We are Wolves aye we.............
darren woolridge
Sir Billy, you are the most deluded easily pleased wolves fan EVER!!!
I totally agree that we need to get behind the team no matter what
AND LOOK WHERE THAT'S GOT US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WAKE UP AND REALISE TIMES HAVE CHANGED!! ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY NOT FOOTBALL ANYMORE, THE ONLY WAY WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IS TO STOP THE MONEY ROLLING IN. 60% OF THE PLAYERS COULDN'T CARE LESS IF WE STAY UP OR GET RELEGATED!!!!! THESE PLAYERS NEED TO BE OUSTED OUT, NOT SUPPORTED!!!!!!!! YOU KNOW WHICH PLAYERS I NEED
At the end of the day we all love Wolves and hate to see our beloved club in this mess but getting behind the team doesn't work because there are too many players who couldn't care less. There have been far too many atrocious business decisions made in the past 5 years. I think we will get relegated and could possibly get relegated to league 2 if this set up is still in place. I will continue supporting wolves no matter what division we are in but will not line Morgan and Moxey's pockets ever again!!!! They are CLUELESS about footballing decisions.

Of course it's a must win because what other teams had he included within his "5"
There is absolutely no chance of us surviving with DS as manager and I hope that Morgan realises what a complete Muppet he has been ever since he barged into the dressing room following our defeat to his beloved Liverpool last season
Carry on fiddling Nero!
^v^
And that incident, post the Liverpool game, was the trigger that's got us to where we are now; I'm absolutely convinced of it. I remember a Wolves team that, while not endowed with huge amounts of skill, would run through walls for you. Where's that heart and passion now? Thanks Captain!

I`m with you on that point, it was the root cause of our current problems. Ever since that dressing room incident it has been all downhill at this club.

That is one point that you are probably right about. The fight did go, but I will give you another point. A certain player joined our team who I will not name and I think that he also has upset the dressing room. You are right they used to fight until the end of the match but the fight appears to have disappeared although I did see a little come back in the second half of the Watford match. We have to get that fighting spirit back.

Didn't you say that when we were about to take on Barnsley and we lost against them. Do we really need Deano to start creating the hype around players about how Bristol City being a must win game cos every game should be treated the same, getting the 3 points because if we start winning games then the Bristol city game wouldn't matter. I think we should use 442 and stick to it, no tinkering during the match.

He said: (Saunders) "I said to the lads we have got Bristol City, who are down at the bottom with us, then Middlesbrough who have been struggling.

Saying "The trap door is opening wider and wider!!" is also stating the obvious, or hadn't you noticed?

The best bit is he says the other teams are around us or struggling for form then in the next sentence he says form counts for nothing! Dean you are deluded and you put more pressure on the team talking all your drivel FOR GODS SAKE JUST SHUT UP!!!!
Gordon Bennett
Why is it that there is always a reason why we haven't signed anyone yet. The loan window has been open for weeks now. Have none of the top clubs got a striker or midfielder knocking about that can't get in the team instead of someone who can't make it into a relegation side. Simon Church ? Doesn't fill me with excitement. Just get on with it dithering about now will leave us too few games to make a difference. I still don't see a plan or a willingness to pay the dosh to save our season. Don't like being negative but hope is fading. Results speak for themselves and the table doesn't lie.
Definitive Wolf
Whereas we always - always - make promises about transfer windows and then rarely fulfil them adequately, other clubs seem to pull rabbits out of hats and at least give it a go. At least Solbakken brought in some fresh faces - and obviously wanted to bring in more right up to the moment they sacked him. We are back to the "promises, promises" syndrome that we know so well. (If Harry had ever managed here under the two Ms, he'd have given them heart attacks!). I wonder, regarding his own money, if Jez is a "cautious" or an "adventurous" investor?

"If you win" There's the rub MrSaunders. Unfortunately you have acquired a bunch of no-hope incompetent overpaid failures. They have about as much chance of avoiding the drop as white smoke indicating Mr Moxey is the new Pope.
I would suggest you will be managing in the first division with roughly the same halfwits who got you into this mess as Mr Morgan will continue to keep his wallet firmly closed. Doubtess the same happy clappers will be trouping into the stands to pay their £30 to watch Sunday league standard hoofing which they could have for free just by visiting a local park.
All very dispiriting for the supporters of a once great club: pioneers of European football. An absolute disgrace to the supporters and the City.
How did it come to this?
When Saunders took over we were 6 points above the relegation zone and 10 points above the bottom team. No team in the division has won less games or picked up less points than Wolves over the past 11 matches. Barnsley and Bristol City have won 6 and 5 respectively over the same number of games and both changed their manager around that time. No team in the relegation battle has won less than 3 games of the last 11.
I would put money on us not winning another game this season with this clown as manager. If we do manage to stay up it will not be a great achievement on the part of Saunders but merely undoing some of the mess he has created with his baffling formations, tactics and selections.
His appointment as manager is latest in a series of dreadful decisions by Morgan - as bad as the Connor appointment. At least we were rubbish at a higher level.
Sad but true
Sadly I agree completely. The Saunders appointment has done nothing apart from prolong or possibly worsten the "lean spell" over Christmas, And now we clearly have the worst form in the division. If we're still in the championship after the Hull game I will be amazed. But it hasn't happened yet. Saunders, if you won't leave, then just leave the team alone.....
Ye Olde South Bank
“......we've now got some games coming up where we can actually look forward to saying we can win" - Dean Saunders
Tell me I'm not alone in feeling more than a tad concerned about such a revealing comment? Dean unwittingly -yet very clearly- implies that recent games have been against opponents that we couldn't even hope (let alone expect) to beat. If that's the case, what on earth are that under-performing lot doing wearing those famous colours? And why was Mr. Saunders appointed Manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers if he obviously has little confidence in their -or his own- ability?
EVERY GAME is winnable, Dean, and that message needs hammering home. This aint the Champions League we're playing in, for God's sake....it's the Championship!

Absolutely spot on.

Is anyone else tired of this clap-trap? We can all do the maths Dean, we know how crucial the result is. Please do yourself a favour and shut up until you've got something important to tell us, like the loan of a striker who can actually put the ball in the onion sack.
I don't blame Saunders for the mess we're in, you have to go all the way to the top for that, but I am sick to the back teeth of these non-stories, they do my head in.
John De Wolf
It is a must win. If we lose I can't see us staying up as confidence and belief will be shot to pieces.
It's not going to happen but irrespective of the result I would be on the phone to Adkins or McDermott and look to be appointing them as manager for the rest of this season and beyond.
DS has been an awful appointment. His record is worse then Solbakken's (who shouldn't have been sacked) and that can't be justified. Another huge mistake by the board in appointing the wrong manager.
We should have appointed Bruce but didn't. stuck with Solbakken's modern philosophy but didn't, I can't see what DS brings, so sack him and get in a proven manager.
I'd also like to know what footballing credentials the non executive members of the board have and why they are advising on the appointment of managers? These businessmen of Wolverhampton who choose managers along with M&M have made catastrophic decisions over the last 2 seasons.
Someone has to be accountable. They should go and people with a football background appointed, so that they can advise on matters of football. I think the easy thing for Morgan to do is walk and sell the club if we are relegated and blame the fans for haranguing him out. The reality is Moxey doesn't know anything about football and neither do the rest of the board who advise him. Morgan, whatever division we are in, should leave Moxey to business matters only, sack the rest of the board and appoint people who know about football.
Scooped
Agree with most of this but cant understand why anyone would want to retain Moxeys services in any capacity and at any price.
What is this much vaunted 'business' expertise that he's supposed to posess?
He's so wonderful at business that out of all of last seasons Prem clubs who have published results, Wolves were BOTTOM for commercial revenue @ £5m.
Even Blackburn @ £9m put us in the shade!
Not only is our CEO a disaster in every footballing sense he is a failed and fatally flawed 'businessman'.
Why on earth is he still there?
TWG
You don't really believe anyone on our so called board has any say on decisions at Molineux. The decisions are made by Morgan and Moxey alone. The others on the board are purely 'grace and favour' appointments and have no say at all. Anyone thought of Niall Quinn as a Director of Football. He's done the job for Sunderland and was even instrumental in getting them new owners. The guy knows his stuff and is no longer directly involved at Sunderland. In our position we should go cap in hand for his help !

Inclined to agree - but let's wait until the die is cast before we "vent our spleen". Management-wise, as you yourself say, nothing will change before the end of the season - not with (after Saturday) 8 games left. All we can do is get behind the team and hope. Wolves fans are sick of all the talk and no action. Show us on Saturday.
If we lose, for me Saunders has to go. I'd get Nigel Adkins in - took Southampton up from Lg1 and Championship in consecutive seasons. Otherwise Brian McDermott stormed the championship.
Saunders is a likeable clownish manager. It looks like it was a big mistake employing someone for their personality. If we lose Saturday Morgan needs to make a bold decision and act before it's too late as if we can't beat Bristol we might as well give up.

Sounds easy 4 wins at home, but the way we have been playing it is going to be difficult. Given our current form compared with that of other clubs around the bottom I really do not see us escaping relegation.

Normally when clubs drop like we are they have no cash. The £6.5 million Morgan the Muppet is forecasting we will loose is rubbish. Arsenel did that recently it's before transfer sales, I make that over £10 million profit.

How can anybody defend the way he has run us into the ground. I will be chearing the team on on saturday but feel at 5pm we will be bottom of the league. What a mess, if you need a lift Muppet Morgan I will drive you to Scouse Land you can stay there.

Couldn't agree more. That's exactly what i've been saying. Clubs who are carrying the burden of massive debt are easily outperforming our club. B'ham for instance. Why? It is incompetence on a massive scale. Wrong managerial decisions at every turn. I work in education and i'll tell you this. If the club were to have an Ofsted inspection tomorrow, like School's do, they'd go straight into Special Measures! That would usually mean the removal of the Head Teacher and all senior management with immediate effect. I've seen it happen. They would then be replaced with a competent management structure in order to achieve maximum potential within the budget & resources available. Do Morgan & Moxey realise the scale of this embarrassment? They are killing the fanbase. If an Albion fan had written the script of the last 12 months it couldn't be worse. Utter humiliation at every turn and i fear the ultimate humiliation come May if Walsall, yes Walsall, have taken our Championship place.
Creep
I take it you're the school cleaner with English like that. You capitalise common nouns and your punctuation needs work. Ampersands do not belong in sentences. 6/10, go straight into Special Measures.

Dean Saunders.. You may talk a good game my friend but you have failed to deliver. I fail to see us winning another game this season and my bet is very safe. I predict we will finish bottom of the Championship, not only will this be catastrophic for the club but your CV will reads 2 relegation's in 2 seasons.... What the fans needs is for you to resign as I feel you are way out of your depth. Wrexham, where you learnt your trade are in the lower leagues. This is Wolverhampton Wanderers and we need a far better and bigger manager than DS. I personally think we will fail in our attempt to move up the table. We missed the chance in 2011 & 2012 to replace MM with a better manager and we are now paying for it. It's all well and good to cry once the milk has been spilt but SM & JM yes do a fairly good job in providing a nice clean balance sheet at the end of each season but we are in the entertainment business and fans need to be kept happy with a clear vision of which direction we are moving in. Stale summed everything up on last weeks Footballers Football Show when he stated SM & JM have not got a football man above the first team manager who can advise and sit down to discuss prospective players also SM & JM do not know which direction the club wants and needs to go. Maybe SS was the right manager at the wrong time a bit like what happened to him at Cologne. Only time will tell but I feel we will get relegated and DS is not the man to stop this and even worse he hasn't got what we need to get promoted in seasons to come.....Maybe the club need someone like me on board...

Westcroft, don't know if you have seen this on the news pages,
http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2013/03/13/battle-begins-to-keep-war-memorial-in-wolverhampton/
but they are appealing for the present owner to come forward and donate it, and yesterday you indicated you had it, in this article,
http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2013/03/12/ebay-sale-bid-sparks-wolverhampton-war-memorial-mystery/
as I don't want to believe anyone would try and make a joke of something like this, and you may have missed today's article on the front pages, I have only just seen it myself, would you now make yourself known to the E&S and sort out returning it to the appropriate authorities in Wolverhampton, so it can be returned to where it belongs, in Wolverhampton, as much has I disaprove of people profiting from items like this, if you do this I will donate £80, plus a further £20 from the charity bet I had with Noisy on these pages back in December, to a charity of your choice by way of consolation for your time.
Cheers.

I fear we are down.
I wonder where we'd be now if our moron of a Chairman had listened to Curbishley and let him take over. In a far better place I wager.
Saunders has proved he is, as they say in Texas, all hat and no cattle.

If we lose on Saturday this clown surely has to go.
Morgan: Appointing Saunders was your last cheap-option-balls-up mistake and has now put Wolves into Division Three.
Get your act together, stop arsing around and bring in a good, solid and respected long term manager NOW, and then BACK HIM.
Very, very simple.
MarlowWolf
I agree with "NRB". Stop having a go at Saunders. It is pathetic to call for him to be sacked! Get behind him for the rest of the season, or at least until there is no hope of staying up.
The rot set in 4/5 years ago. McCarthy should have been released as soon as we were in the Premiership. In those 3 three years he assembled a squad of players who were not up to that level............................or even this level!!
What we have, apart from SS's legacy of some useful players, is a group of limited professional footballers, who no one else wants.
Morgan get's all defensive, but HE was the daft bugger that sanctioned the spending of £70+million on very little! It must be him that allowed some players to be in the squad on long contracts and fixed wages!
What a joke, if we do go down we will have players on silly money and STILL not able to dominate games!
My advice continues to be: own the Club, but get some decent senior management in to run it!
IanTheLichfieldWolf
"If we win the 4 home games we will be alright"
Blimey, you have to admire his optimism when we've only won one of the last 14.
Seriously, his comments don't inspire any belief in me that he has the nous to be a successful manager.
I see Reading have made the same mistake Morgan did. I wouldn't mind McDermott managing Wolves. There's several decent managers out of work at the moment - Adkins, McDermott, Di Canio. If we avoid relegation maybe we could get one of them in. A lot of comments on social media making parallels with Reading and Wolves. Many like this one:
"It is very surprising that the billionaire owner does not want to spend a penny on the squad and then hoping against the hope that they will avoid relegation. I think Reading will become the same laughing stock as Wolves, very soon."
Morgan and Moxey hang your head in shame.
Victor Meldrew
Wish Dean would stop stating the obvious and get on with preparing the team and bringing at least one decent striker in asap.
Advice to Dean:. 'action speaks louder than words' - just cut out the drivel and get on with your main job, keeping us up.

Yes we really need to win this match, and if we do it will be a big big lift. Plus if we were to will it would be the first match we have won at home on a Saturday for months and months.... Lose and I really think our season could be over, it would just be too big an ask...
If we were to lose then playing the likes of Burton Albion next season, could to a reality ... How far have we fallen the past 2 seasons, just cannot believe it...
So to quote Mr Moxey "we will not do an Albion"....

And tomorrow is Thursday........why does Saunders continually come out with the obvious? We need to beat Bristol City and Middlesbrough at home to get us into that massive pack of teams above us that is being propped up by Ipswich. End of. And if we lose on Saturday then in my view it's goodnight Vienna. Saunders is simply out of his depth at this level and if we do stay up it will be through luck rather than judgement, but then I fear we used up most of our luck in the first two seasons in the Premiership. We are in this mess through the continual idiotic decisions of the Board, advised by our CEO, including doing everything on the cheap. We underinvested in the Premier and we have appointed second rate, cheap yes men as managers since McCarthy went. I thought the sacking of Stale would be an opportunity for the Board to appoint an experienced manager to steady the ship and get us back into the Premier in due course. Even if we survive it will simply paper over the cracks and the real issues at our club. The failure to appoint a Director of Football in the summer (thanks Jez) has just about nailed our demise. With little or no footballing knowledge at Board level, we will just make one cataclysmic mistake after another. Well, here's to Saturday and I for one won't be booing anyone and will be supporting the team, but my feelings are clear.
Do-ohhh
in the sewer, deep in crap, a whole transfer window spent trying to rid ourselves of players and bringing no one in, now a month of loan window gone and one player, plus a standby, brought in... and talk talk talk of 'if we stay up, i can bring in better', but absolutely no idea how to prevent us from sliding ungracefully down the divisions. The club is a laughing stock, with three rabbit-suited clowns caught in the headlights with no idea how to prevent the calamity that is about to crush them.

I despair. At least our fate will be decided on Saturday and if Bristol turn us over like I predict then DS should resign and Morgan should put the club up for sale.
There is no end to this nightmare, how much more can us supporters take? And still no sign of any PL striker?
All the happy clappers that keep on saying we are a well run club might not be saying that in league 1 when we will still be paying some of the dross no one wants their full wages.

Quite simply, if we can't beat Bristol City we don't deserve to stay up, and Deano should then resign or be sacked. If we lose, better start rebuilding straight away and rehire Solbakken on a three-year contract. If we win, Deano stays but, we have to keep on winning, but we still need to rebuild. We're a bit unlucky that the bottom teams in this league are all playing well and we are therefore being 'found out', If there were 3 no hope teams below us, and we stayed up, it would have only have masked the sheer scale of the problem. The run-in will really separate the men from the boys!

The safety mark is about 48 points and while I struggle to see Wolves achieving that at the moment there are still a lot of clubs, if fact half of the league, who could, mathematically, be pulled into the scrap.

All words yet again, little action and even less results. This daily intake of dribble is an insult to anyone with any intelligence.
Yesterday and before there were to be players coming that can score goals and defend. Where are they? It’s all too little too late. Moxey should resign now. Saunders is grasping at Straws and simply stating the obvious that any idiot could work out. Can’t someone tell him to shut up until he has something positive to report?
Winning against Bristol City would be a start but it’s impossible to make up for the total shambles that has take place since promotion to the Premiership.

A must win match on Saturday. Shouldn't every match be a must win. If we keep changing our system half way through a game then we havent got a chance.
I love the Wolves and will support them no matter what division they are in and I have renewed my season ticket but Mr. Saunders you have got to stop keep talking to the press and start getting the players to start scoring goals and not sit back if we get the first goal. Keep figthing for more goals.
We have to keep fighting and the fans have to do their bit too. We are all in this together but it is up to Mr Saunders and the players to put this right. Us as fans can get behind them and raise the roof at the Molineux but that is not going to help if the players do not do their bit too.
Let me see the fighting spirit back on Saturday.

If Saunders were to leave admitting the job was to tough for him to handle, who would you see us bring in folks?
I'm assuming Adkins or McDermott but anyone else?
No White Smoke
Nigel Adkins would be a superb appointment, I was shocked when he got the tin-tack from the Saints. However there ain't no way he'd come to us, he'd be sure to see the same problems that put Curbishley off. I can't imagine he'd like the look of that trap door that's so close either, particularly with the limited amount of time he'd have to work any miracles.

Our plight is of our own making.
Saunders and the 2M's decided not to purchase in the Jan transfer window.
Now we are told we are closing on a striker, what a shambles.
He should show the team the Barcelona replay from last night , what a team they are.
They would learn how to pass to our side, how to play the ball into space, how to head the ball, how to move the ball forward quickly with accuracy, how to play in the other teams half, how to break up attacks by tacking in midfield, how to defend and tackle, how to defend around the penalty area, how to score goals!!!!
What playing with high energy means, as opposed to being tired.
Perhaps we could loan there fitness coach.
I guess we can only dream of all the above, as it will never happen with the current crop of players.

Agreed. He should never have been sacked in the first place. Another knee jerk reaction by those in high places at Wolves, who know nothing about football.

tell you what i would love to see solbakken back at wolves but sadly he was the right manager at the wrong time for wolves,he had a long term plan and that was to make wolves a true footballing side like barca or even swansea but when the fans started getting restless and his players got injured in came mms players and it all went pear shape from then on,then when he earmarked 4 or 5 players he wanted in january which was going to cost a few quid morgan decided to get rid and do it on the cheap thinking the players we had were good enough well there not and i think in hindsight now morgan would have kept solbakken and backed him, morgans going to lose a lot more if we go down than he would have backing solbakken,id like to say to morgan what ever happens this season please learn from it this time dont keep trying to do things on the cheap?yes it can work in the short term but in the long run you end up a damn site worse off and now we are paying for it,,,,/\/\wwfc/\/\,,,,

More drivel, how many must win games have we had and not won them. Stop talking and deliver. I wish he would do the decent thing and RESIGN. Walsall are going to swap divisions with us.

Maybe we need reverse psychology.. Make this a must lose game, then at least the players would hear something different than this drivel. (only joking) Every match is a must win match. The players should not be allowed off the pitch until they start to win.
Every blade of grass should be fought over, we are in a battle, and we will only win the war, if we fight for every damn point.

MM @ TC - presided over relegations with Sunderland and Wolves
SS - relegated with Cologne and did not particularly help our cause this season
DS - related with Doncaster
All have a part to play in our demise and may have another relegation on their CV - MM/TC may also add Ipswich as they are woeful as well.
Point is, please have a bit more thought in who you appoint next time Mr Morgan. In fact, I would approach Keith Downing to fully explore what's gone wrong over the past few years and plan for the future. He has vast experience of working within football let alone recent contact with top managers at the Albion plus knowledge of Ashworth's ways of working.
Angry Allan
Its the players that I am angry with.
Results don't happen in the board room, they happen on the field, and they are the responsibility of a group of very highly paid professional players, many of whom were premier league regulars last season. Whatever bad desisions have been made by M&M, and however inexperienced or incompetent the manager may be, this side should have been more than capable of securing mid table stability at the very least.
The players carry the can for me, they are a disgrace, and the sad thing is, they couldn't give a stuff. They can't be bothered, this must be the reason; the only reason for the current position is that the players cannot be bothered. That team should be able to pull enough results even with - I dunno - David Brent in charge.
Leon
They are all a disgrace, players, manager, chairman and that car sales man in disguise. It is no good pointing the finger in one direction. The players would not be there if we had a chairman that invested wisely, a chairman that made sensible decisions.. We would not be in a mess if we had a manager who knew what he was doing.. The players are just part of the problem, the problem encompasses everything connected to our club.. Everything bar the supporters who have been amazingly patient.. A little too patient for my liking..

What's Saunders worried about as he stated earlier in the week that we are going to damage them anyway.

Henry will still lead us into this vital battle and the hungry youth will be dropped for the old guard as Saunders already has his favourites so the outcome will be obvious-dark days ahead I fear.

Looks like you've hijacked my name....and on the subject of Henry, I think we might find he has a playing clause in his contract - if he's fit he has to play. He's never been dropped under four different managers.

You're joking about a must-play clause for Karl Henry? Never heard of such a thing.
dennis wiser
Why does he not just shut up and put up instead?
I am tired of the wolves players/manager and ex managers talking the talk and not able to walk the walk
It's not us that need to know about the "must win game" its about the players knowing what it means if we don't! Enough is enough. Surely all the player and managers comments this week so far are nothing but Bristol City's team talk and motivation to beat us? I did hear that one manager printed copies of the E+S off and pinned them on the wall of the changing rooms and used that to motivate his players.
I have looked on the Bristol Papers and there is no comment about our game, nor has there been so far this week.
With our current win record, we have nothing to boast about - we would be far better letting the football do our talking and the results/championship table showing that.
Sir Billy Quiet
Why if so many posters on here are so passionate about the state that the club are in could you only muster 50 people to stage a protest??
The reality is that most of this negative rubbish is being churned out by 'stay away' non supporters.
They have been building a wall of negativity around the club for 3 seasons now and are part of the problem...............
If you can't get behind the club now, when will you?

Sometimes you have to hit the bottom to rise again. You have been one of the problems for years, happy clapping an incompetent senior management structure that is rotten to the core. Yes i do attend most games, including about 70% of aways.

Ye Olde South Bank
A supporter has already asked that same question on this site, SBQ. A fan responded by pointing out that most people aren't stupid enough to demonstrate when the club fighting tooth and nail to survive, and I can only concur with that. So, there's your answer, bud.
Of course, paucity of numbers at that much-publicised protest shouldn't be interpreted as some kind of thumbs-up indicator of customer satisfaction at the manner in which this club is being run. Hell no! It simply goes to show that the average fan has far more commonsense than some would attribute them.
However, if Wolves fail to survive, we can all confidently predict that there'll be huge numbers of fans busting their lungs with rage immediately after our fate is sealed -and that, sadly, will be much more of an accurate guide to the simmering resentment that's bubbling just below the surface. In fact, considering the endless humiliation they've had to suffer, I'm amazed our volatile fans didn't lose their cool long ago. Let's hope it DOESN'T come to that, though, because there's enough problems surrounding Molineux as it is. We need unification, not division.
However, if and when mass protest does happen, rest assured it'll all be self-inflicted injury by a club that lost its special connection to its fansbase the very moment it finally realised its Premier League 'dream'. Unfortunately for us poor suckers, that damned dream has become the fans' nightmare.

Future prediction:
This is what Saunders is going to say when you lot have 4 more games left to play "Listen, if we win the next four games 3-0 we will finish on a par with Barnsley, Bristol City and Peterborough and stay up on goal difference. We should be okay."

Wolf Blast
Firstly, I think Saunders should only be speaking to the press on a Friday before a game, immediately after the game and then after the post mortem on the Monday. The drivel that is coming out everyday is really only making a bad situation worse.
Secondly, despite all my moans at the players which I think are justified I do feel the fans have a big role to play as we have to get behind the players if we have any chance of staying up. The team is playing better away without the home fans on their back whereas Molineux should be Fort Molineux where the opposition expect a hard time as we are always behind our team. We don't have many matches left, the clock is ticking so lets get behind them as I think it's our only hope.

I agree with you. Unfortunately i cannot afford to go away anymore but I am at every home game and I can see where your coming from with some sections of the home crowd. He must know his days are numbered with one win ( against the worst form team in the division who had one eye on the cup semi final) out of 13.
I guess this is why he says things like a halfwit would do after games to hide the fact that the players have let everybody down.
However this would not be the time to sack shambles unless we could get somebody in who could get these players play.
Perhaps a Paul Daniels or David Blaine are the only type of person who could get Henry to pass forward, O'hara to try a simple short (non dream like) pass, Blake to eat less and breathe more easerly, Doyle to stay on his feet, Ward to know where his winger is, Johnson to take more water with it and cut out the mistakes and Mr Shambles to stop talking.

we all know that if we lose this week odds are we are down looking at table if we lose we are 3 points behind bristol and petersbough if they win 5 behind barnsley if they win and seven if ipswich win so yea an idiot can see this is also a must win but funny thing is we all say we need a new striker yet our biggest marksman this season is on loan to hibs at 22 and most of you slag seb of but hes got 12 this season being the leagues top 11th scorer in league and if he scores again saturday he could go 9th in top scorers so rather than slag seb why don't we point out all the other strikers we got who are falling short also my views if we survive this season send doyle out to celtic for full season its worked for griffiths might do same for him to get change of pace plus theres no reason if the celts want doyle they cant loan us a striker back the other way.

more drivel from sir billy, are you sure your not a board member,or poxey in disguise. everyone on boardroom level should be ashamed of them selves at the predicament wolves are now in.mad mick should of been sacked earlier, after terry the clowns failure, somebody like hughes ,curbishly or di matteo should of been the next manager. you appointed stale, but you didnt support him when he needed it,instead you sacked him.we hear nothing from you for nearly 2 years, but when it comes early bird time and the heat in the kitchen is rising , you both suddenly reappear, spurting rubbish from your mouths, we are realy sorry we got relegated,it realy hurts we arent in the prem anymore. buy new season ticket and we will throw in a couple of fivers.well enough is enough,if wolves do get relegated, you should sell up ,especially to someone who is intrested in football and not just the pounds. stay up or relegated the fat controller must be sacked, and again the new ceo must be intrested in wolves the football team not just the pounds.then the players who have under achived this season, ward ,hunt, berra, henry steerman if he is still here, should be sacked. its plainly obvious no other team will want them.so if you aint doing your job to required performance, most copanies give you your p45,why should it be any different to footballers. and before anybody moans about lost transfer fees, we let zuber go for nothing, and in my oppinion he wasn much better than names mentioned.

I'm in Canada and can't be there on Saturday but I'll be glued to the internet from 11am Toronto time. I'll be saying a few prayers beforehand because if we lose to Bristol then I can't see how we will manage to scramble out of the bottom 3 after that. Doesn't bear thinking about so I'll keep the faith and stay optimistic. Surely we can put a few wins together over the remaining games? Are we really that bad? I'd like to think not. UTW

Oh i get it, the old `i live in Canada so i can`t get to the game` routine.
How many times have i heard that one!

"we’ve got to win this game because if we don’t they jump above us and we’ll have another team to get past "... Move over Archimedes !

The Bristol City match is definately a must win. However, I fear that the wrong starting eleven will be selected and thus the must win will in fact turn out to be a draw. For my money, Henry doesn't deserve his place in the team and Hunt shouldn't even get in to the squad! Davis should be given a chance from the start rather than as a sub and Peszko should be brought in from the wilderness. By the way, can't the Express and Star find out what exactly the situation with Peszko is?

Is Dean Saunders brain connected, does he not yet realise every match is a must win game now, we can't afford to lose any.

Obviously my prayers have not been answered DS has not been fired. Damn.

O'Driscoll was my choice (being a local lad and with the right footballing brain) and, on the basis of recent results by the club situated down the road from me, that he would have been a good choice. I did read on a Barnsley's fan site that the reason he wasn't in the running at Wolves is because he did not get on with Moxey. Another reason to hate Moxey anyone??
http://www.barnsley-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/wolves_look_to_snatch_saunders_777688/index.shtml
I do fear for the worst. BCFC have the obviously better tactical manager and the upward momentum. Hopefully I am proven wrong but you only have to look at the stats
O'Driscoll
P11 W5 D2 L4 Points 17 Win%45.45
Saunders
P11 W1 D5 L5 Points 8 Win%9.09
Man I wish we had O'Driscoll. Man I wish Moxey would just jog on. Anyway what ever the result I am gold and black until I die and hope against hope that we can nick a result against the scum on Saturday. UTW

So Wolves are the 10th most expensive club and what have we got for it.Players who are past their sell by date/deadwood,etc.I do not have much in the way of confidence in what we've got to deliver us from this mess. One can only hope that they muster enough effort to barely survive this season. With the teams around us getting results,it is going to be touch and go. IN the close season a big clear out is needed. Are you up to the task messrs Morgan,Moxey,Saunders et al?
oldgold46
well saunders when you first came i said you talk the talk but can you walk the walk answer is a big fat no. lose saturday and
i think the fat lady will start to sing. i now have little hope for our club which has been turn into a bad joke morgan/moxey.
Okd Wanderer
Just got to do what Morgan and Moxey have been doing past two seasons =hang on and hope. Loaning Premier foraerd, they must be having a laugh at the supporters expense. Wait till next season we will have the best team in league one if Walsall have
moved on. We could even sign Leigh Griffiths grom Hibs, another joke.

WHY DOESNT HE REALISE HE WOULD GET MORE RESPECT IF HE JUST SHUT UP,ALL THIS DRIVEL HE COMES OUT WITH MAKES HIM LOOK A FOOL.BUT THAT SHIP HAS LONG SINCE GONE.HES OUT OF HIS DEPTH,FUMBLING IN THE DARK TRYING TO COME UP LUCKY.I THOUGHT LEAGUE ONE WAS HIS LEVEL WHEN THE APPOINTMENT WAS MADE,AT THIS RATE I THINK THATS ABOVE HIM.
Wolfman Jack
Saunders suggested we would take 9 points in 8 days a couple of weeks ago - he came back with 1 point from the 3 matches.

Anyone remember Fawlty Towers and a famous quote from Basil Fawlty? In one episode he refers to the BBC's Mastermind and says of his wife, Sybil: "Specialist subject - the bl***ing obvious."
So, Deano, do fancy your chances on Mastermind?
Perhaps your specialist subject could be either: [A] How to get teams relegated; [B] Delusions of Grandeur; [3] Simple arithmetic; [4] An illustrated history of speaking out of one's anus, or, finally; [5] Telling everyone what is so blatantly obvious.
Plenty of choice for you!

Thank you Dean 'Sherlock' Saunders.
Lets hope if the loan striker is Simon Church he is bringing Brian McDermott along for the trip.

IN DEFENCE OF THE REALM !!
Very sad that so many posts are derogatory to the owner and CEO. Mr.Morgan took over WWFC with the genuine intent of lifting it back up to the Wolves he knew of long ago. Along with an astute accountant Mr. Moxey they appointed a very stable manager in Mr Mcarthy.
These days managers usually have a limited shelf life, so when MMs voice had lost its power in the dressing room and with supporters, and along with injuries and some poor decision making by himself and match officials, the team results made it inevitable that he moved on. Even then, Mick Mcarthy would only make comments of appreciation for his former employers. They in turn, (after yielding to severe criticism from fans re. S. Bruce/N.Warnock etc.) out of loyalty put their trust in his former assistant Mr O`Connor, (Forgive me saying it but I actually wrote them to say he would likely have trouble in both
player selection and strategy BEFORE his first game), the rest is history. Many wanted Mr Solbakken`s
plans to work, but he proved unable and posts yelled for replacement .
It is not easy to be faced with decisions to replace a manager once he is appointed, and much heart
searching surely took place before his dismissal and replacement with Mr Dean Saunders who is `trying`
his best, but simply unable to turn things around (so far).
Yet one fact that the afore mentioned managers have in common seems to be that they have obviously failed to make the most of the playing staff and produce a solid all round team in defence and attack .
These days all outfield players need to be flexible and able to do both , no team can afford to play
members who are defence only, or will not track back when needed.
Yes this is all obvious, so what is needed ??? Answer... UNITY between Management, Team, & Supporters.
!st/ Suggest that posts stop insulting the ownership and executive and make more appreciative comments.
2nd/ Owner speedily appoint director of football with proven record of uplifting teams performances, and give him immediate authority for team selection and strategies. e.g. Nigel Atkins etc
3rd/ That he is advised for team selection according to fans suggestions i.e. Solid defence, constructive midfield, powerful attack, must be unselfish, 4-4-2 plan, cut down long punts upfield, play from the back.
4th/ Owner should continue with interviews to E&S (Martin Swain) and communicate openly once monthly
5th/ Legendary figures like Steve Bull should be involved each match day, and in p/r with E&S.
6th/ Club should prevent individual players spouting to E&S about `manning up` `must win` etc.
7th/ All at match to give immense vocal support when team is losing or winning.
8th/ Club to adopt new song ie Bully Bully to new lyrics (see R.Plant)
9th/ Team to immediately bring in younger ones to play alongside experienced players.
My choice, Ikeme, Doherty, Baarth, Gorks as captain, Robinson, Davis, Doyle, Sig. Cass. Sak, Ward.
Cheers.

Peszko contract goes something like,
'.... more than 15 league game starts for WWFC will incur a further payment of... (of what exactly - Monkey nuts???).

Wim rubbish and wim going down, it's very simple. On sat our team with the worst home record in the Championship play the team, Bristol City, with the worst away record , so bring on that 0-0
No good for either team. All you posters it is the Barclays Premier League for football and the Premiership for rugby, get it right please
C'mon me babbies, prove me wrong !!!

As we live in the Middle east, I'm taking the Mrs away for a few days to see if we can find some rich Arab to buy our great club.

That post by Morgan's Conscience (above) made me smile. If we're equating Saunders and his buffoon boys to the art of lovemaking, well, it's a no-brainer, aint it? They're all bloody impotent.
Mind you, I have it on good authority that there's a container of Viagra at Bristol dockyards awaiting urgent delivery to Molineux. Apparently Saunders ordered it because he thinks it will help his team stiffen-up to Saturday's challenge. When asked by a reporter why he'd taken such drastic action, our boss sagely replied :"Because I'll do whatever it takes to avoid a repeat of last season's Premier-ture eject-ulation".

When was the last 'must-win' game we actually won?

Sunday, May 8th, 2011. Wolves 3 - 1 West Brom.
Seriously, though - I take your point. We have more bogey teams than you would find at the World Nose-picking Championships.

The battle for bottom place:
Dean Saunders
“We're not in the relegation zone (ed: correction, we are since Saturday) and have to go into the Bristol City game thinking we can do them some damage.”
“It’s a six-pointer – we’ve got to win this game because if we don’t they jump above us and we’ll have another team to get past.
Sean O'Driscoll
"If you get six points it would be a six-pointer. You don't get six points, do you? It's a three-pointer,"
"At this time it's just somewhere we can get three points."
"We're not worried about where we are in the division. We need to focus on what happens in the 90 minutes. "
Must say, I prefer Sean O'Driscoll's style: more cool, less bluster - and his team has been picking up more points
