Crystal Palace are closing in on a £1million move for Wolves ace Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to spark what could be a late flurry of transfer activity in and out of Molineux.

Wolves are expected to wait until they have a replacement lined up first before allowing their 11-goal top scorer to leave, with Sunderland striker Connor Wickham the latest name linked to Dean Saunders' side.

Sources say a fee has been agreed between Wolves and Palace for 26-year-old Ebanks-Blake, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Palace manager Ian Holloway is a long-term admirer of Ebanks-Blake after selling him to Wolves from Plymouth for £1.5million in January 2008.

And Holloway has money to spend to fund a promotion push after the £10m down-payment from Manchester United for Wilfried Zaha.

The deal is set to go through before the transfer window shuts at 11pm on Thursday night, when Wolves travel to Leicester.

The news comes as Palace appear to have missed out on Sheffield United striker Nick Blackman, who turned down a move after the clubs agreed a £1.2million fee.

Both Ebanks-Blake and the club have been happy to allow the striker's contract to run down.

The former Manchester United reserve has struggled to show his best form this season, although he is an ever-present in the league and scored in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Blackpool.

But Wolves now have the chance to recoup a seven-figure fee for a player who only has five months left on his deal before he can walk away for nothing.

Wolves are in the market for a replacement, with Sunderland youngster Wickham the latest name to be linked with a move to Molineux. The 19-year-old is believed to be available on loan for the rest of the season.

Wickham has found appearances hard to come by since his £8.1m move from Ipswich in June 2011.

The England under-21 international has played just 27 times in all competitions for the Black Cats, scoring twice, but only eight have been starts.

Derby forward Jamie Ward, 26, is another to have been mentioned, along with Norwich hitman Simeon Jackson and Swindon's James Collins.
