Bristol City 1 Wolves 4 - match report

Resurgent Wolves provided the perfect response to a turbulent week after crushing Bristol City to end their nine-match winless run.

Stale Solbakken stock 2

Resurgent Wolves provided the perfect response to a turbulent week after crushing Bristol City to end their nine-match winless run.

Man of the match Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (21), Kevin Doyle (25 and 41) and Bjorn Sigurdarson (45) banished all talk of players and manager Stale Solbakken’s debate by half-time in their best 45 minutes of the season.

Derek McInnes’ poor side were booed off at the break to chants of ‘what a load of rubbish’, just like Wolves were after Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Millwall.

In a chance-laden second half – with virtually all of them going to Wolves – City bagged a consolation through Neil Danns in the 85th minute.

The only downside to Wolves’ biggest victory since beating Blackpool 4-0 in February 25 2011 and their heaviest away since a 4-1 win at Leicester on May 6, 2007 was the worrying sight of midfielder Dave Edwards being stretchered off in the 60th minute with a mystery injury away from the ball.

The Wales international became Wolves’ 10th casualty currently out.

Solbakken made three changes.

Kevin Foley, captain Karl Henry and Ebanks-Blake replaced Richard Stearman, David Davis and Jermaine Pennant, who all dropped to the bench.

Ebanks-Blake fully justified his recall with his best game for many months, having a hand in all four goals, but Doyle and Sigurdarson were worthy man of the match contenders.

Tongo Doumbia missed out on a place in the 18 after he was sent to France on a special training programme to rid him of mental and physical fatigue.

Wolves looked the better side from early on and should have been ahead as early as the fourth minute, but Ebanks-Blake stabbed wide from six yards out after Bakary Sako’s cross.

But Ebanks-Blake and Wolves didn’t have too long to wait as they took the lead with the next attack of the game and were 2-0 up four minutes later.

The striker flicked home Stephen Ward’s stunning 18-yard volley in a crowded box after City partly cleared Sako’s corner.

Doyle doubled Wolves’ lead when he slid in to convert Bjorn Sigurdarson’s cross after Ebanks-Blake started the move with a pass to the Icelandic forward overlapping on the right and he drew keeper Tom Heaton before crossing.

Doyle’s second was arguably the best goal he has scored for Wolves.

Picking up possession about 15 yards inside his own half, he burst through two City players then set off towards goal, with Ebanks-Blake taking out two defenders with a run to the right as the Ireland international went left before firing a low left-foot across Heaton into the bottom corner from 12 yards.

Just before half-time, Sigurdarson sent Wolves fans into dreamland when he rounded off another superb move, sending a first-time left-foot drive across Heaton from a similar position to Doyle’s second after a move between Sako and Ebanks-Blake.

Doyle was twice denied a hat-trick in the five minutes after half-time as Wolves blew away any fears of yet another second-half fade-out.

First the Ireland international beat keeper Tom Heaton after cutting in from the right only for his shot to be cleared away from in front of the line by Matthew Bates.

Moments later his shot hit Heaton’s legs with Ebanks-Blake and Sigurdarson waiting for a pass in the box.

To City’s credit though, they carried the fight to Wolves and created half chances, one-time Wolves target Marvin Elliott firing just over from 20 yards before Danns forced a falling save from Ikeme with a sidefooted effort.

With the game becoming increasingly open, Wolves hit back and should have added several goals to their tally.

Sako stung the palms of Heaton with an angled drive before Roger Johnson sent a looping header against the bar with Heaton beaten.

Substitute Sam Baldock flashed a rising effort over before three chances for Ebanks-Blake in 10 minutes.

First the striker’s drive was palmed away by Heaton after he ‘rolled’ defender Matthew Bates, then he ballooned over leaning back inside the area before he missed Sako’s cross from six yards out.

Substitute David Davis, who replaced Edwards, curled a shot over before Danns struck.

But the game was long won and the day belonged to Wolves and Solbakken.

Im glad wolves won but kind of wish stale wasn't our manager wolves will need to win a lot more matches to make up for there last 9. Up the wolves!!!!!!

Credit where credit is due, feels good to be a wolves fan tonight ( may even watch football league ) Well done Wolves.

whitmore wolf

looks more attack minded team, sig has more pace than pennant. wait and see what happens next week

Orlando Wolves

Well done lads - 4 goals away from home is not to be sniffed at regardless of who you are playing. It appeared to be a good performance too, which will put the travelling Wolves fans in a better mood. Let`s continue and build on this result.

There won`t be as many posts today, there never is after we win.

Capel Wolves

So everything is now rosy? I don't think so. Before everybody gets carried away, Bristol City are in the bottom three. Having spent 12 hours travelling to two awful home games last week there was only one way the team could go today. I am please Ebanks-Blake got a game. Golden boot winner in this league and a proven goal scorer which is what the team is lacking. You only win games if you score goals. Let's reserve judgement until after the Birmingham game.

kenny hibbitt scorcher 77

well, for 9 games we have had to endure rubbish performances, negative drivel from the impatient so called fans, and gloating from jack and his mates from the dark side. And now its payback time. well done wolverhampton wanderers.

who cares if it was against struggling bristol city, but in that first 45 mins wwfc unleashed all that pent up frustration on the unfortunate robins.

and as a whitehead ensured that the naughty tescos will still come on our pages but will be hopefully limited this week. A NORMAL WEEK AT WORK THANK STALE.UTW

Come on Whingers, where are you now?

I'm not a whinger Sydney but I won't get carried away by one win to a bottom 3 team either. We need to build on this with a 9 game unbeaten run. I have stated many times we have to be patient with Stale not so much with the players and not at all Moxey/ Morgan.

Dan the Man

OK, back down to Earth. We played a very poor team today. Great first half though.

Second half, we faded again. SEB is hit and miss, moreso miss. Sometimes think he couldn't (proverbially) hit a cow's backside with a banjo. Anyway, continuing ...

A second half goal from City which again came from a distance. We cannot avoid conceding goals like these, but we need to make sure that when they they do arrive, we have enough in the bank to make sure they do not count for anything. Fortunately, and on this occasion, we had banked four already.

I also hope nobody gets carried away with this result. We have a December programme which is about as easy as it can get in this division. So we need to rack up much needed points. After December, we have the transfer window and I hope some returning players. We shall need this extra help when we have to start playing much better teams.

So, all things considered, we may be fortunate to have such a convenient schedule of games ahead of us. It is critical we make it work for us.

Fingers still crossed, still hoping - and still praying!

dan supporters like you with your constant negative and snide remarks should just go away and support someone else, even ater a fantastic win you still cant be positive your only happy when we lose , nob.

The comments are neither snide nor negative but realistic. People who get carried away with one win are as bad as those who get carried away with a loss. We have just had a run of 9 games without a win!

Dan the Man

There are none so blind as those who refuse to see. I'm a realist, not a blind fool. I call it as I see it, and as I understand it.

Sometimes, you have to speak up for reality, in a sober way - albeit it may sound negative. But if you do not highlight faults, then they will continually be repeated.

OK, the board and management at the Molineux may not be losing much sleep over my opinions, but I think I have the right to say what I see before my very own eyes.

In closing, I'd like to know one thing from you. If the Wolves get beaten in their remaining December games, what will you say then? Will you expect all of those who make objective and critical remarks to start waving the flag and ignore any faults with the club?

Get real, Bradmorewolves. Wake up and smell the coffee, or stay in your dreamworld where nobody at the Molineux can do anything wrong.

PS. Thanks to Bilodave understanding my remarks. Nice to know there are some people commenting here who have brains!

Haling wolf

Fantastic feeling winning one

Will have a better week now

Steptoes getting slaughtered twice in a week

Plus England beating the all blacks not to mention the cricket

I'm in one of them if carlsberg made weekend moments crack on boys...!

Jealousy just confuses me.

Chillo Wolf

I said they'd win

Carlsberg weekend indeed!!

Perhaps this is the turning point we have been waiting for lets hope so.UTW.

rowley wolf

well done 2day wolves, hope this is a turning point but not taking anything a way from the lads but we were up against very poor opposition 2day & still didnt manage a wolves fans dont start getting carried away,we will have a real test next week against the blues, but hopefully we can take 2days form in2 that game & snatch another 3pts.....the boys saved your bacon 2day stale,im still not convinced by you & your tactics but what 2 i know!

Today i witnessed a fairy talking to a lepricorn at the bottom of the garden but much more unbelievable - Kevin Doyle actually scores 2 goals and in 1 game.

At last a decent performance and fantastic result but a word of caution - Bristol City are a ver poor team and there a many much harder games to

Lets hope this can kick start our season and a sign of things to come

The Flying Winger

So what's the problem?

Whatever Stale said a response has happened, problem child sent to France.

Seb reinstated, Doyle doing what he should be doing, a good tempo, good shots on goal, good possesion, Foley reinstated,

A team suffering like ourselves were for once despatched by us with ease.

The people who I am delighted for are the 1724 fans who travelled.

Where do we go from here who knows?

Well done. That should boost everyone's confidence. It has certainly cheered me up.

I told you Mr Flying Winger we miss Mr.Henry sooo much.

The Flying Winger

Noooooooooooo we don't Sue, we played a poor team today, but we did the business for once!!!

Although he did actually make some forward passes.

Sorry but don't agree with you on this one..We've played a few poor teams of late and come away with nothing, so i'm well chuffed. You know we'll never agree on Karl but that's ok with me, We're all entitled to our opinions my friend!!!

salford wolves

well done wolves and solbakken good to hear we created lots of chances and also took them.

hopefully this is a sign of what we can do although this was a poor bristol city side another good performance next week against the blues and the same result please.

super dude

about time lads now pick up on the positives and keep playing with pride!!!!COYW!!!!!!

Wolves in Cork

nice one Stale. you deserve a bit of a change in fortunes

Lets all have a disco , let's all have a disco , la la la la .

At last - well done, team (and SS)!

Cairo Wolf

Is it a coincidence that Karl Henry returns and Wolves win? People may knock him for going sideways or back but in the end of the day he can only pass to players who are in space and trying to receive the ball. Yes he makes some silly errors which is why he gets red cards often, but he is a Wolverhampton born lad and is a key player for this team right now. We have a solid spine in Ikeme, Johnson, Henry, Doyle and Sigurdarson so let's solidify the rest January! Now is the time for Morgan to come up good with investment on the pitch.

clowns on this board

I'm sure the knockers will talk of 'weak opposition', but you can only beat what's put in front of you.......well done Wolves, a welcome confidence booster &, I hope, some well deserved belief.

Only a solid victory next week will confirm the slide has ceased and only then we can begin to hope for progress

Rob Bristol

Don't get carried away Wolves, you beat a rubbish City side, who will probably get relegated.

Great stuff Wolves --SEB mano'match with Sig and Doyler close runners up! How long is it since we could say that? We want / demand the same 90 mins at Molineux against the Blue Noses next week at the silly time of 5.30 p.m. And the same 3 pronged attacking line up. In C'pn Henry we trust!

Great result though i'm not going to get too carried away just yet.Bristol City are a poor side and the game was a six-pointer in the relegation battle and i'll take the win.

lets hope we hope we have turned the corner.

Fantastic first half performance from Wolves. The players looked up for it from the start, with robust challenges and a higher tempo. We looked a little more direct and creative than recent week with not as much aimless passing at the back.

The team created many more chances than recent weeks - Doyle was outstanding. Make sure you see his goal - surely there won't be a better goal from a Wolves player this season (it was Michael 'Owenesque' though helped by poor defending).

Worthy of mention was Siguardsson who showed good place and intent on the right. He provided more threat in 45 mins than Pennant has in any of his previous games. The Henry / Edwards midfield axis looked a better mix.

SEB also looked much sharper and put himself around, though he should have scored an easy chance within 5 minutes and also had other chances.

Shame that Edwards has yet another injury - he seems to be the latest in our long line of 'delicate' players that play for 4 weeks and then get injured again. Just when we thought we could tell Tongo he could have another week's holiday!

Second half Wolves again created chances and could easily have added two or three goals. They sat back a little and Bristol got a late consolation.

Let's not forget though that Bristol City were very, very poor. They had no goal threat and their defence was none existent in the first half with gaping holes for our players to run into. It was like men against boys.

Hopefully it will give all a bit of confidence and act as a foundation to better results.

Saft Sid in Mallorca

What a manager? I for one never had any doubts, too right it's my way or the high way.

Tarrah a bit

chris h

That is the response and result we ALL wanted.United in wanting the Wolves to do well. Pleased Doyler scored two and I think Ebanks will score at this level,he just needs a good run.Don't want him going to Portman Road and then becoming the leading goalscorer in this league.Seems a good idea for Sigurdarson to play wide right and he seems to be settling in well. Also wecome back Karl Henry.

Credit where credit is due - well done today! A HAPPY WOLVES FAN

OK it's only one win in ten but let's hope we start to climb the league now.

I sincerely hope Stale gets it right. He comes over as a decent guy.

On another note: The Steptoes have lost two in a row so hopefully their gloating fans will give our forum a rest for a while.

Tipton Wolves

Yay our first win in 9 games though wolves still fade out in the second half and also we now have another injured player on the list. Solbakken doesn't seem to be looking after the players properly if they keep getting injured. I think we ought to get a new fitness coach and a new physio.

P. Turley

Stale Solbakken must be given the funding to bring in his players, as we all know one cannot make a beautiful silken purse out of a tattered and torn sows' ear!! And there is an abundance of the latter at the golden shrine!!

Sounds like we played well today, could this be the turning point for us, but we have already lost ten so there is not much room for anymore defeats if we fancy a top six finish. COME ON YOU WOLVES.

welsh wolf

great win for the wolves after an awful month ,good to ebanks back in team @ foley ,give stale time @ money in jan @ we will be a force again in time ,i was glad when mick went the football was never any good under mick @ clipboard but this manager knows his stuff up the wolves

Let's not jump to any conclusions, let's just enjoy it.

Good job we are not judged on the second half of matches. we'd be relegated already

Not keen on this manager

I see the blind squirrel has finally found a nut!

Hopefully this will boost confidence in the squad and give us something to build on! I do think the wolves squad is good enough for playoffs if only they can work together as a team consistently. Sounds like SEB had a good game... and I do hope Sako comes back healthier.

Hope this is the start of a good run!

English Exile

Any victory is gratefully received but I am dreading the posts coming up.

One win in 10 against a team that haven't won in 14 is not going to turn the season around but it is welcome.

Let's just try and push on.

Orlando Wolves

Middlesbrough 1 - 3 Bristol City

Great result but let's leave the celebrations on hold for now. 3 points against a poor side should be expected and it was a bold move to play an attacking line up. Remember MM, he would now play the same line up next match without considering the opposition. I'll be interested to see our next 11.

Epsom Wolves

Get in there... Well done Stale and the boys... Behind you 110%

Mark B

Well done to the lads.

Burlington Canada

What a relief. Now we have seven days to relax before the next crisis.

Tom Sandbach

I had a felling we were going to give someone a proper doing soon. Well done lads, keep it up.

Filthy Wolf

Okay, the win was against a struggling team, it was won in one half, missed a bagful of chances in the second half to slaughter them...........but hell, it was a win and the last one was ten games ago.

Against tougher opposition, yes, it will have to be better, but AT LAST a Saturday afternoon when I get to 5 and FEEL GOOD!

Surely this win will give us some impetus on three counts - 1 to climb up the league,2 to put faith in SS,3, to stop WW.FC going into oblivion by appointing that poor excuse for a manager Strachan

carlos fandango

Well deserved breathing space for the manager. Long may he continue. The new style may need a coupla transfer windows to bite, but when we are back in PL it will bring dividends.

Those calling for a quick fix new manager should look to Ipswich. Doing great for now but how would they go in the Prem? Been there and done that. Next time we go up I want to see us winning more than we lose. Last season was torture.

Patience boys. We will be better for it.

One win does not make a season. Beating a bottom 3 team does not make us world beaters. Yes it is better than defeat, but I don't really expect things to change, nor would I trust a guy to manage my team after spending 2 months lost without a clue how to make things better. I know some will think we have turned the corner, the same people who are easily pleased, but will still are right at the bottom of the division in 17th place, we still have had a really poor season so far.. Please don't get carried away, it can easily backfire again.

Football is all about ups and downs so you have to be pleased about the ups, or else what's the point!!!

As James Greaves once said "its a funny old game"

Ebanks Blake is wanderers number 9

Only the other day, I said your lucky to see Wolves score more than 1-2 goals a game, so what do they go and do, yes score 4 and break this awful run of games we've been on. I know it was only Bristol City, but you can only beat whats in front of you. Funny how Karl Henry missed three games, which we lost them all, yet he returns and we win. It was good to see all three strikers score, and all in the same match, it sounds like SEB/Doyle were excellent today, im really pleased for both players, for different reasons, Doyle has worked his socks off for ages without scoring and for SEB,who's lost his way lately, but had a hand in all 4 goals, and who is still the best finisher in the penalty area, and in our squad. Just get Jenwyne

And just add Kenwyne Jones, to the three strikers we've already got, and we would shoot up this league. UTW:n

The Winslow Boy

Fantastic result.... but only one small step in the right direction. Still a long way to go until I am convinced our wonderful club is back on the right track.

Still not a bad weekend so far - win for the Wolves, Smethwick lose, England beat the All Blacks and my daughter passes the 11+.

Totally bloody happy!!!!

Golden Wonder

Without doubt our best performance of the season against a poor team i admit but it's good to see our forwards find some form when we needed it most.

Let's hope this can kick start our season and at least find some sort of consistency in what is still going to be a tough year.

I just hope fans will give him time.

hairy meatball invasion superhero

WOW!!!!! What a match! That was sooooooooooooooo brilliant! Bostin! Still, this is only 1 match, so i,m still not convinced this is not just a one off!

I really want wolves to win again but like many others, i'm not confident and i'm only 10!

I have faith, just not much.

Really happy this weekend, wolves have done BRILLIANTLY, so have England in Rugby and I have passed the 11+!

great result, but lets not get carried away,YET. bristol city arent at the bottom half of the table for nothing.

Pukka pie butler

The best weekends are when wolves win and Albion lose, and the cherry on top is kites set the goal up. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

manc andy

Well done wolves, iv said it all along that stales going to turn it round,. Stick to ur guns and dont panick, its all going to be fine. Good result next week and we will be on the right path, onwards and upwards in Stale we trust. I love to go a wandering along a mountain path and as i go i love to sing with an nap sack on my back,,UTW,,UTW,,UTWOLVES THE WOLVES THE TEAM IN GOLD AND BLACK;;;;;;;But we must,nt get carried away its only one win in nine and theres along hard road ahead.Well done wolves..

wolves away r we

that's the best game I have seen for years what a goal by doyle

thats more like it.lets have it week in week out not just now and again. we have to build on this ! the chumpionship is so weak its unreal we should dominate it but we aint. c,mon me boyzz show us that we have what it takes.

Still think it's too late ,lets get a new manager in now or we'll end up with the scraps again

Putza Shiftin

A great away win, which I didn't see coming! It might just have saved Stale's job, for now at least.

Have some of the players suddenly woken up and smelt the coffee?

I for one am not about to get excited about this victory. We only seem to be beating teams near the bottom of the league and that just isn't good enough, but at least it has halted the slide and the awful run.

Looking at our fixtures between now and the end of the year, there are much tougher battles to come before the New Year and by that time it should become clear whether Stale's way has a decent chance of working.

And just seen Kightly do some great work for Stoke, not sure that shirt suits him, but I know he was thinking of us when he did that. Maybe Kev, Psalm WONOH and the rest of the wind up merchants will stay away this week.

We Only Need One Half!

Credit where its due, the run you've been having, 4-1 is good result, but don't forget, it was against a team that's won once in 15 games, there losing streak is over 50% worse than yours, did you really expect anything less than a win?

As for banging on about Kightly, yes he managed to do what your best player Fletcher couldn't, but it was no different to what Woods did to you in the week. Oh, and by the way, I don't wind up, I only deal in points of fact, not opinions.

p.s. The fool that paint bombed Stales car this week must be feeling a right idiot this morning, scum, utter scum.

I guess you just post on our site to give an objective opinion then - I thank you for making the effort to provide a neutral point of view! At least we can agree on your last point.

One swallow does not make a go and beat the Boro !!

Golden Blood

Where the hell did that come from?

Creep in Wolves Clothing

Let's keep this in perspective - it was only Bristol City. But it feels wonderful to get those three points and it seems the boys played as an attacking, supportive team. Well done. UTW.

Can the blokes who chucked paint all over Yule Brinners car please report to the Molineux tomorrow morning for a spot of remedial action?........moving on;Birmingham on the telly may be the moment when some people get behind the club again,ps all you beauties that come on here and rag on every aspect of our club please relocate to another blogg......maybe one that dosen't stipulate spelling or grammar or any knowledge of the game..........basically a site that encourages your needs in the community,oh and if you like to paint then there are courses available, hope they don't conflict with your day release schedule??

what no comments from moronic baggies wonder why

Wim a big Stafford club we am!

Are cor believe this, What a bostin game.

The podgey lad in the No9 shirt ran like it wus taytime, Karl frum Willenall mowin the lawn with them crackin 10 yard passes. And Doyle wow who eva sez he aye got a goal in him just gooo back down yow own end Cuz his back, arm tellin ya and will rip this Division apart. His goooin for 8 this season. It aye gonna be easy but wiv only Got Luton so Are think he will.

Well done lads keep it up.

we needed the points,

3 more next sat would be brill.

Tasmanian wolf

A quality reply to all the doomsayers guys. UTW

Bruce, Trinidad

At last we are smiling: even if we did "lose" the second half again!

We got solbakken the club

The football has been poor, the injuries have been as frustrating as some of the refs and to top it all, old players deemed not good enough have come back and shoved gold right up our palace. So what did Stale Solbakken do ???.....five at the the a manager under so much pressure,he made a brave call and went for it. We attacked, kept composure and attacked again and again until the quality we know we've got, threw off the shackles and manufactured quality goals not seen for a very long time. Let us not underestimate the bottle needed to make this decision, he could've easily set up to try and not lose and steady the ship, but instead he's now got a few doubters thinking " well, I'll see what happens after Christmas". I like the gaffas passion, but he also needs quality players and a bit of time for him to cement us in the prem....a new, hard working Technical Director would shoulder some of the workload and probably shorten the time in reaching our goals. It's a position the club should be looking to fill ASAP.

We're still in a poor position , but if we can keep the strikers fired up , we're only three wins from being right back in it. What is it about Wolverhampton Wanderers ? Why is it always chalk and cheese, love and hate or Jekyll and Hyde ? The nutters who threw paint on Stales car will probably be sending him Christmas cards next week, it's just how this club gets ya, it's WWFC and its a drug, bad for your health or a serious buzz. What's it gonna be next week, I don't know.....all I know is it helps if you try and drink through it. Keep the faith.

Au revoir our kid...

Toronto Wolf

Hopefully, we can quickly reduce the 10 men out scenario. I do believe we can have a good run into the holiday season.

Congratulations to all.

Toronto Wolf.

WOW! Where did that come from!

Kevin Doyle's second goal takes me back to when we first bought him. Running at defenses and slotting the ball home. Wonderful. SEB had plenty of chances and tried too hard to convert them. Still, the chances were there. Sigurdarson is developing into a really good player. Henry & Edwards were good in midfield AND Henry didn't pick up a booking!

So, what about Brum next week? Will we get the same, or back into our shell.

No surprise Henry returns & we spank a poor Bristol.

He makes us more disciplined & as such more difficult to play against.

Not getting carried away but it's a good starting point for the rest of the season.

Congrats to the forwards for some clinical finishing & superb movement, 3rd & 4th goals were excellent !!!!

Realistic Wolf

Really pleased for you Stale. Just hope the unrealistic commenters give you a bit of leeway this week, after all Rome wasn't built in a day. Just hope you get backing in the January transfer window. UTW

Solbakken out Herman German out Moxey out

can't even keep clean sheet against rubbish team

no idea no tactics no chance

De Matteo in with Wilkins no 2 and spend more than 50p in Jan

Stato's Boring Brother

Get back to sandwell

Fair play. a win is a win................ but i am not getting carried away for one...... the jury is still out!

The Truth Hurts

Was at the game. we sat with the bristol fans on the half way line. Have not been his biggest fan but johnson was my man of the match followed by siggy , e,b worked hard but for those of you that were at the game he missed two absolute sitters. doyle scored the best goal i have seen him score. We still need to spend in jan, Bristol were a very very poor team but a win is a win.

The Truth Hurts

Forgot to say the team tactics had definately changed for this game the tippy tappy football that we cannot play were missing. it was a lot more pacey and fluid , a bit like going back when we were last in the championship. playing to the players strengths more.

BSD. SS is the man to take Wolves to a new way of football. Any talk of sacking him will mean Wolves not establishing themselves in the PL. We go up and we do not spend we come back down again and repeat the process again. So let's change the WOLVES set up, playing technique, and getting in players who will do well no matter which league. SS will need time to take this team forward and replacing him only guarantees one thing - another mad mick. So fans please do not mention sack SS again otherwise we will not reap the awards which are to come.

Then we would be doing an Albion, YO YOing up and down sacking the manager every 18 months til we hit the right one! it's not the way to go, we need stability and Stale will hopefully bring that as long as Moxey and Morgan don't listen to some of the clowns on here and bin him off if we don't go straight back up.

Were you at the match? Ebanks blake was not man of the match . It should have been Kevin Doyle by far

Do the same next week boys and I might manage a smile!

Now get off Stales back and support him and the team in this transitional season.

It hurts me as a long time supporter to see the derogatory comments on this site and to the low life who damaged the managers car I hope you are caught and brought to justice. So called supporters like that bring this great club into disrepute. We all get frustrated when results don't go our way, but I firmly believe that this club is trying to achieve success and long term stability.

by doing things the right way.

Orlando Wolves

Agreed. Booing, hissing, spitting, throwing paint over Stale`s car and general, destructive and negative comments do not help anyone, let alone WWFC and its overall image.

Hope returns in time for the season of Advent - a season that proclaims loudly, 'Out of darkness cometh light'.

Listen all ye that have ears to hear.

Keep the faith.

Wolf Blast

Just what was needed in terms of confidence. However, City are struggling so lets not get too carried away and based upon results to date we are a mid/upper middle of the table team at the moment. We all want to be in the top tier which could be for next season if Morgan gives SS some money to invest.

Well done the front three which hopefully will provide confidence for a good run up to and over Christmas. Nevertheless, we do need to invest in a new back four so my Christmas wish would be to get at least two out of those four by the close of the window plus a couple of loan players.

Steve Morgan its down to you now - show some leadership and be bolder than you have been since you took over. The business side of the club is on a sound footing so you can be more aggressive.

Brazil Wolf

Now don't you feel silly for vandalising the gaffers car,bit extreme I'd say.Well done Stale keep up the good work with what you've got matey.Roll on January when we'll be a bit further down the line of your revolution.

Nice one wolves back to winning ways at last. Lets hope it will continue against the blues.

It's coming together, and I said that somebody would get a beating when it all started to come together!

Henry back, O'Hara back, and we'll really start to hum, but only Championship level. We need some players with more ability for the Premiership.

Although the defence has started to play better, it would still be marmalised by Manure, or even the ferals on the Brum border!

bindamaan sunny spain

good win however bristol city were very poor still require major investment in jan up the wolves

We bear the mighty Bristol 4-1 Not Barcelona !!!!! , never seen such a shambolic team , should have been 9 nil , not convinced and nothing changes as far as I am concerned , no rose tinted specks From me . Normal service will be resumed next week , loss for sure

Kevin Foley and Dave Edwards to get us through the 3rd round of the Cup?

Better, onwards and upwards!

gold and black blood

here we go we have won 1 match and now Solbakken's the club saviour again..

bottom line is they beat a team lower in the table than we are not WOW its bread and butter football not rocket science, all they did against bristol city was get people off Solbakken's back.

we need this scoreline week in week out for the rest of the season so we have a fighting chance of getting back in the prem with out the play offs and show the rest of the league we are not the mediocre prem league whipping boys they think we are.

we need a good winger to replace jarvo so Laurel and Hardy aka moxey and morgan when the window open in january give Solbakken some of the fletcher/jarvis money to spend.

all hail the brave new world that is Solbakken !!!

Lets build on this lads. Ismael looked good for MK Dons too.

Stato's Boring Brother

I'm surprised we let him get cup tied

Me too Stato.

Dave O

A touch of deja vu me thinks. 9 match winless run the natives are restless and then a WIN stave of execution.

Lets hope we dont get another similar run followed by a win and then another debacle.

Luton in the cup oh dear

my sources tell me that despite this win, stale is still fighting 2 save his job & defeat 2 blues next week could bring his reign 2 a end...reports say morgan has already held talks with alex mcleish 2 become stale's successor! if wolves are gonna sack, they better do in b4 the january transfer window & make funds available 4 new manager!

I THOUGHT ROGER McGOUGH WAS A SCOUSER ??? WHERE DO YOU GET THIS STUFF FROM MAN ?? and do they sell it per gram or what ??

Lets be having you, where are you, as yesterdays amazing away win left you speechless. Brilliant were'nt they. Cannot believe i am the first on here, whats the matter ! Have you not got nothing to complain about. Well done Staale and the lads next up the Brummies can't wait.COME ON THE WOLVES.

All quiet now yowv won ??????????

Peter Townsend

We won't get fooled again

Flying Piggy

Yow dont want to manage yow want to own

Cum and buy Wolves, David Beckham

Yow can buy a luvly pile in Tipton or Upper Gornal

Tek us back into Europe

Preferably not Norway

Spice Girl

Yeah c'mon Steve Morgan Becks will give you a tenner !

David's Dimple

Oh yes! We can even offer a Primark for Posh. More seriously, a message to the moron with the paint - not in my name.

Carolina Wolf

Good result but it was Bristol!!

Tipton Wolves

Even though wolves won some of the players could be a bit more clinical in their finishing as other teams won't be so easily beaten.

gold n black on me back

Well done wolves just what we needed. I'm pleased for solbakken after a tough week

Stato's Boring Brother

Great win, a sign that Karl Henry was back in the team. Hopefully Peszko will be back soon to add a bit more bite to the midfield and he's also willing to track back and support the defence.

Just seen the FA Cup draw, I just hope SS doesn't underestimate Luton. I suppose it will give a certain Wet Brom supporting columnist to mention Chorley at least once a week between now and the cup match (its strange that he never mentions Woking).

London Bloke

McLeish? Are you mad. Utter failure.

If Morgan has even thought about McLeish then he is planning for WWFC to become a park side. If McLeish gets the job I will laugh as WWFC go down the pan which will be what they deserve.

Sir Billy Quiet

We all know that we are in the middle of transistion but it's great to win away!

Stale needs time to rebuild the squad and this result will help to buy the time he needs.

Let's hope Jez Moxey is considering his future.........hi, ho Moxey must go..........

Mr Morgan get a football director into the club ASAP!

Well done Doyle good second goal, lets hope you now have the confidence to attack rather than look for the pass backwards or sideways.

An interesting team selection with three strikers playing. I certainly agree with the decision to drop Pennant to the bench as he has'nt performed all that well since his arrival. I would have expected Forde to have been the replacement instead of Siggurdarson. But maybe Solbakken has, either by design or necessity, hit on the right combination up front. Who cares - it worked.

This result may just have bought enough time for Solbakken to defer any thoughts that the board may have had in replacing him with one of the out of work managers being muted in the press.

Should he stay, or should he go: on balance it would probably do more harm than good if Solbakken was replaced at this point in time. Morgan, in my opinion, will need to back him with providing the necessary funds to strenghten the squad in January and hope that we can still mount a promotion challenge.

Interesting to see what is happening up north with Sunderland. Around about this time last year a lot of posters on this website were screaming that McCarthy should be sacked and O'Neil appointed. One year on and Sunderland seem to be in the same position that Wolves were in, and now and their supporters are starting to voice their opinion that O'Neil should be sacked. I wonder if people will start saying; he's a good manager, but not a premiership manager.

Also, if Sunderland were relegated, it would mean that Steven Fletcher would have been recruited from two previous relegated premiership clubs, only to find himself in the championship yet again. They'll have to nickname him the Albatross.

Thats what I was thinking of..Fletcher didn't score this weekend and he is now injured....oh well Sunderland will be at loss now for strikers lol.

The result is a good score. But.....Blues await next and...well....the fans going will be able to tell us this coming Saturday whether the team are improving or just had a lucky blip.

Row Spalding

Good win saturday, lets hope we can now keep it going.

I expect we will get some kind of comment from the Lord and master MOXEY this week, he hides away when we are losing,

Glad for SS after a tough week, I have just seen the draw for the FA Cup, away to Luton hope the team do not underestimate them.

Now for the Blues and another win.

Sir Billy Quite

Hi, ho Moxey must go.....

John B

Bristol city must be really bad but they still managed to win the second half

Sap Paulo Wolf

Good stuff. Well done. Now go on an unbeaten run. Players have got to be more consistent. They are all under scrutiny. Take heart from this but, if they don't consistently produce Stale's way of playing ...... they go. Oh yes and PLEASE fans don't go overboard with promotion talk.

Ye Olde South Bank

Shame we didn't score a few more with so many chances created, but credit where credit's due for banging in four goals away from home, irrespective of the opposition.

It's only a starting point, but it's a confidence-boosting platform to build on, nevertheless. More of the same, please, Wolves.

Good win but against poor opposition I am not convinced Solbakken is the answer or zonal marking.

Orlando Wolves

I see that some of the critics are around still eg " Yes a win, but against a very poor team in the bottom three"

When will some Wolves fans accept that on their day practically every club in this division, can beat any other club in this division. For example, Bristol City won AT Middlesborough recently 3-1.

Feet do have to be kept on the floor I agree, but a 4-1 win away from home is a good result, Bristol City or not.

to the idiot above who stated we were playing bristol city not barcelona!!!!!!! really? oh my god........i was really looking forward to seeing lionel messi and co turn up at ashton gate.

as i stated on saturday evening, there were plenty of comments after the milwall defeat offering advice to wwfc, and i asked all those posters to put up their hands after the bristol win............only half of them have returned i wonder why?

wonoh , good sensible comment .

as for jack and cr78 , i guess you will return if we lose to brum.

if stale can bottle those first 45 minutes and get us to play 95 minutes we should be okay.

someone suggested mcleish or strachan!!!!! both decent players but failed managers.

jarvis set assist to help west ham beat chelski, kightly set up assist to help stoke beat wba,

i remember some posters in seasons gone by claiming our players were no good and nobody would buy them.

hopefully doumbia is back on saturday ready to replace edwards.

Jesus, there's a few fans on here with half empty glasses. Listen you do know we won the weekend? try enjoying it instead of whining, oh i forgot you all expected us to cake walk the league with our ex-premier league stars and BIG CLUB persona. Time to wake up we are not a big club, not since the 1950's have we been a big club well before i was born but were heading in the right direction slowly.

Would you rather see us appoint a short term fix so you lot can get your Premier League Badges back on your shirts? for it to last 12 months and we'll be back to square one!
