Wolves boss is sure Jermaine Pennant will prove vital

Wolves boss Stale Solbakken today claimed the arrival of Jermaine Pennant can help the team maintain the winning habit.

Winger Pennant has arrived on an initial three-month loan from Stoke after Wolves lost three wide men – Razak Boukari, Slawomir Peszko and Stephen Hunt – to injury.

Pennant is expected to slot straight into the line-up for Saturday's trip to Huddersfield as Wolves return to action after the international break looking to maintain a record which has seen them climb to third spot in the Championship on the back of four wins in the last five games.

Solbakken believes the Stoke winger was a vital signing after the loss of the trio. He reckons the 29-year-old's arrival can see players restored to their best positions after right-back Kevin Foley played wide right in the 1-0 win at Blackburn in the last game.

"There will be many ups and downs over the next few months but hopefully now we have a player in on loan, we can play people in their best positions most of the time, and we can get players back fit again," said the boss.

"Hopefully we can build further on the training pitch so we can get better.

"It's nice that we have progress – that's the most important thing."

Solbakken believes victory at Ewood was a further boost to players' morale after beating the team with reportedly the biggest budget in the Championship.

"That was very good – it was a deserved victory and it was a good confidence booster for some of the players," he said.
