Bakary Sako's sights on Premier League with Wolves

Man of the moment Bakary Sako today insisted he wants to grace the Premier League with Wolves – as boss Stale Solbakken described the winger's left foot as "out of this world".

The powerful French winger scored his fourth goal since his £3m move from St Etienne in Saturday's 1-0 win at Blackburn.

All of Sako's goals have been spectacular strikes and the 24-year-old wideman has quickly become a fans' favourite.

After making such an impact, Wolves know the Premier League scouts will be taking note.

But the former France Under-21 international said he wants to play in the top flight with Stale Solbakken's side.

"I'm not thinking about the Premier League at the moment," Sako told the Express & Star. "I'm playing for Wolves and I'm enjoying it here.

"I hope to get to the Premier League with Wolves.

"We're all working hard to get the club back into the Premier League so promotion is what we're all hoping for.

"We're working very hard towards that aim so that we can be back there next season."

Solbakken was delighted with Sako's goal, saying: "His left foot is a good weapon for us – it's out of this world.

"That makes us dangerous from setpieces with his ability to find targets in the penalty area.

"And if he comes into shooting range he almost always hits the target."

Sako, whose latest goal came via a fierce shot into the roof of the net from the edge of the area, wants to add to his tally after hitting his first Championship strike in open play following his free-kick specials against Cardiff and Sheffield Wednesday.

"Ever since I've been a little boy, I've always liked to shoot at goal, so it comes naturally," he said.

"The ball came back to me, and although I wanted to shoot first time, a defender came out to me and so I dummied him and then I struck it and it went in.

"I don't know how many goals I can score this season, but I think I can score a lot."

Wolves made it five wins in six games to climb to third place, and Sako insisted the side can improve further, especially after being without 11 players at the weekend.

"The team can still get a lot better because we've got a lot of injuries, so when everyone is fit we will be stronger," he said.
