Wolves today confirmed they have rejected a £9m bid from West Ham for winger Matt Jarvis.

The club also revealed they have knocked back an offer in excess of £12m from Sunderland for Steven Fletcher – the latest of a series of bids they have turned down from the Stadium of Light going back to the start of July. West Ham's offer for Jarvis is understood to be £6m now, with £3m in guaranteed add-ons.

The bid from the Hammers is the latest to be submitted for the England international, with Fulham also having joined the bidding.

But it isn't enough to tempt Wolves into selling, with the 26-year-old, who cost the club around £600,000 in 2007, having three years left on his contract and the club not needing to cash in on another of their star assets.

Wolves also have to pay Gillingham up to 15 per cent of the profit if they sell Jarvis, which equates to £1.26m on a £9m fee.

As for Fletcher, Wolves are doing their best to hang on to the Scot, but in the event they have to sell, are looking for the bidding to rise towards the £15m mark.

With an impasse between Wolves and Sunderland, it is understood the parties are now considering meeting face to face to thrash out a deal.

Wolves have also left the door open for Fletcher to remain at Molineux after the transfer window closes if his valuation isn't met – despite being unhappy with the way he has conducted himself recently.

It has now emerged that Fletcher has been angling for a move since returning to pre-season training, while he failed to turn up for treatment on his ankle injury or for training on Wednesday, arriving at Compton only to deliver his written transfer request.

Sources say he has threatened to play out his contract in the reserves, although he appeared at yesterday's photocall.

Wolves have also confirmed they have rejected two bids from Liverpool for keeper Dorus De Vries.

The Dutch shotstopper is another believed to be unhappy at Wolves now he is aware of interest in him.

But Wolves are asking in excess of £1m for the 31-year-old, who has two years left on his contract.
