Slawomir Peszko’s loan move to Wolves has been delayed, it emerged today.

The Poland international midfielder, who has been earmarked as Michael Kightly’s replacement, has left England while the terms of his season-long spell from Cologne are hammered out.

Peszko underwent a medical at Compton on Monday with a view to signing straight away, but it appears the goalposts have been moved over the terms of the agreement and the deal has become more complicated.

Sources say there is confusion as it appears there is more than one agent claiming to represent the player and different figures are being mentioned by either party, complicating the deal.

The man listed as Peszko’s representative, Andrzej Grajewski, was quoted in the Polish press yesterday as saying his client is still considering the move, saying: “There are discrepancies.

“It’s hard to say whether the end of the negotiations is closer or further. Certainly nothing is signed.

“Slawomir likes Wolverhampton, but the deal is still under negotiation.

“He has until August 20 to find a new club so there is no hurry and the club he joins isn’t necessarily Wolverhampton.”

A report in the Polish media claims Peszko won’t be welcome back at Cologne, as they have stopped him doing his pre-season training there.

Instead Peszko has been training recently with former club Wisla Plock.

Manager Stale Solbakken moved quickly to identify a replacement for Kightly, whose £3m move to Stoke was completed yesterday.

News of the snag on Peszko is the latest grim bulletin to emerge from Molineux after Steven Fletcher’s transfer request yesterday followed  Kightly’s departure and Christophe Berra wanting to leave.
