Jamie Tank admits shock at Wolves call
New Wolves signing Jamie Tank today admitted his Molineux move had come “completely out of the blue” as he looked forward to launching his senior career.
New Wolves signing Jamie Tank today admitted his Molineux move had come “completely out of the blue” as he looked forward to launching his senior career.
The 18-year-old centre-back signed from Walsall yesterday on a two-year deal to become the second capture announced on the day after freed West Ham striker Frank Nouble penned a similar contract.
Northampton-born Tank, who signed for a nominal five-figure fee, had been watched by Wolves since the start of last season.
“I didn’t expect it and when I first heard of the proposed move it was completely out of the blue,” said the teenager.
“It’s a great feeling. I just can’t wait to meet up with the lads and to get started with pre-season training.”
Tank, who arrived as one of Walsall’s highly-rated youngsters, will initially join the younger professionals working with development coach Steve Weaver.
Matt Doherty and Jake Cassidy arrived in similar circumstances two years ago from Bohemians and Airbus UK respectively.
Weaver said: “I went along to watch him and it was clear he had things in his game that will be a benefit to us.”

Good luck to you Jamie i hope you make it.

nice to see the young and hungry policy alive & well...They wont all make the grade of course not, but if Dave Bowman an he rest of the scouting team can sniff out a few more unknown good uns from the lower levels like Jarvis, Kightly and Foley whats wrong with that?
Amazed!
"....it was clear he had things in his game that will be a benefit to us.” - Like being able to actually defend?

Don't start moaning. Give the lad a chance first.

After the antics of a certain Mr Johnson last season, I'm sure you will replace him quite easily.
Welcome to Wolves.

Doherty, Batth, Forde, Ismail, Davis and maybe the new lads. I'd love to see them all in the team at times this year. BUT we still need experience, Henry, Berra ??, Fletcher (OK probably Ebanks) will be the key to a strong spine.

Lets hope he is a TANK on the pitch
turn3rwolves
the guy is only 18 and obviously got potential and one for the future dont expect to see him properly for at least 2-3 seasons this is what we want young hungry players an thats what wolves are about these days thats what got us to the prem so in tank an nouble at least 1 of them if not both could b stars in a few seasons i.e like jarvo kites etc same senerio cost us next to nothing an look how good they come for us but no one would have thought it at the time so get behind these new young players make em feel at home our support is 50% of there success if there happy at the club well get the full 110 out of them and if these players dont work out it aint like we have paid 10-15 million for them like some clubs do to find out there no good so get behind them onwards an upwards dont forget wolves ay we

One for the future at a club where the future for youth players never comes around!
Rancor_Bait
Let's hope the likes of Doherty and Cassidy get their chance this year then these sort of deals 'for the future' can prove to be fruitful.

COULD THIS SPELL THE END FOR STEARMAN OR BERRA OR BETTER STILL, BOTH, WONDERFUL NEWS IF IT DOES.
I ALSO BET THE LAD CAN PASS THE BALL FORWARD TO ONE OF HIS OWN PLAYERS AND HEAD IT AWAY FROM ANY DANGER, SOMETHING THE HAPLESS STEARMAN AND BERRA STRUGGLED TO DO.

I have to say that not for the first time I’m wondering what the situation is at the “Mol”. Currently, officially we have no manager. Stale has said previously he was going to wait and see the players on the training pitches before deciding who he wants to keep and who he wants to let go.
I can understand the signing of Bjorn Bergmann Sigurdarson at this stage because the player is already known to him and wants to come to Wolves. However, the signings of Frank Nouble & Jamie Tank leave me scratching my head. Stale would not have watched or have knowledge of either player. On whose authority were they signed? Who is pulling the strings? Did Stale have any input? Has Stale already decided from seeing the videos who is leaving even before he’s seen them in pre-season training? Does he know which players are moving on and will need to be replaced? Anyone know the answers to these and many other questions?
Ben
We may aswell give the youth a chance this year see if they can cut it maybe one day id like to see him and bathh as our centre half partniship we have some promising youngsters coming thorugh give them a chance please ! :)
Pragmatist
Can't understand what's going on here. I can understand SS authorising the signing of the Icelander, as he is a declared admirer of the player. But Tank and Nouble? I can't believe that he is such a follower of lower league football that he has even heard of them. So who has recommended these players and who has authorised their signings? Good luck to them, and I hope they do well. Mind you, they are bargains for a reason.
soggy_wolf
I bet you weren't as shocked as Stale Solbakken will be when he turns up for training on July 2nd and he sees you there, Jamie. He'll probably want to know who you and Frank Nouble are and what the pair of you are doing dressed as Wolves players!
So this is Steve Weaver's idea? Heaven help Wolves. Another one who will never see the first team. Except when injuries mean that Wolves will have to draft in the reserves for a training match to make up the numbers, like they seemingly did constantly last season.
The Usual Suspects
Good Luck Mr Tank maybe you can teach Steve '20 years at Wrexham' Weaver a trick or two UTW
We got sol bakk en the club
I,m all for giving opportunity to young promising players, cos at the end of the day they are the future of whatever club you follow , it's just that after Eggert I lost a bit of confidence in our scouting system..Who wants to be brave enough to hold their hands up to that one?.. Who was it that thought a bit-part, lower end , SPL midfielder could help keep us in the prem ?.. Who,s responsible for the 600k price tag ?..Who was convincing enough to get Moxey to spend that amount without any pedigree, cos if you can prise more than half a mil outa Jez then you should be made prime minister of Greece immediately.
Are there any comrades out there who can tell me how far and wide we scout for players? Are we limited to Easyjet routes or do we pop over to Rio now and again? Somebody educate me please..
Au revoir our kid...
davel
must give the new signings full backing and give stale the chance to get the best out of the others.if he can add a couple of defenders of better quality we should win this league hands down.
Old Man in Old Gold
Good to see new and eager fresh faces coming to the Golden Palace, but where is the strategy? If Stale isn't starting work until next week and still has to look at the players who are already on contracts prior to strengthening the side, why scoop up players he may just discard? Old man in old gold is a tadge confused (but happy).
Lesterwolf
Let us hope that with Tank and Baath they can PLUG the Wolves defence

Welcome to Wolves Tank - we used to have a TANK(Steve Kindon)if you have a heart like his the fans will love you!!
jamie rielly
As I am sure anyone who watched last season, if this lad can put in a tackle outside the box without keep running backwards towards our goal and does not need to wrap his arms around opponents, he will be a lot better than we had to put up with last season.
Beat of luck Jamie, really looking forward to some wins.

NB There will only be one real Tank, Steve Kindon, can you remember those runs, it looked as though he would end up half way up the North bank, a really nice chap, fit as a flea.
Coached us when playing for The Chestnut pub on Sunday mornings.

What's the point in young and hungry if they don't play, like Ismall and others, as they will leave at the end of their contracts for nothing.
You cant even sell a player in their last year of their contract as they are prepared to let them run down and receive a big signing on fee.
We need players that can improve the starting 11 to move the club forward.
If they are only good enough to get us up, ie Big Chris, then thank you then move on.
The big clubs only bye kids to remove them from the pool of available players for others.
Fifa should put a limit on the number of players at a club but I don't think the rich clubs would allow it.

From Friday's article on BBS:
"The 21-year-old scored in Lillestrom’s 3-0 Norwegian Cup win over Kisa on Wednesday after agreement was reached with Wolves over the weekend."
Now call me picky but the reports I've see list the scorers as:
Time Lillestrøm
12' Tom Kristoffersen
39' Mathis Bolly
77' Ohi Anthony Omoijuanfo
Welcome to Wolves Jamie

The old guard are still running the club moxey connor and the back room staff dont expect to much to change. I bet stale was on the phone lets sign that great center back from walsall.Good luck to the young lad with our coaching staff he will need it

me thinks he will do really well considering the new backroom set up introduced by stolle.
p.s. come on italia.

I do not have a problem with this signing - very small fee involved and probably, by football standards, "modest" wages - I don't think we can lose and we may have much to gain, who knows. I am more unsure on the Nouble deal. I will give him my backing now he is one of ours, but need some convincing - especially as Stale surely cannot know much, if anything, about him. Stale will know of many Scandinavian and indeed German strikers who might have suited us and I would have preferred to have gone down that route.
Saddle_Sore
The Tank signing will have had a lot to do with Mick Halsall, clearly still monitoring the Saddlers youth setup since he left for Wolves.
In fairness he does look like a good prospect and probably would have got a first team chance if he'd stayed with the Saddlers for the coming season.
The Nouble signing is a bit of a mystery though.

Why is everyone living in the past talking about all the youngsters that never get a chance!!
NEWWSFLASH - Stubborn Mick has gone, we have a new manager now so maybe things will be different try and be positive eh in Stale we trust!

tell you what, good luck for both tank and nouble this season, please don't let the eejits put you off. they might very well be Stale's signings after all. even so, let's give the boys a chance! onwards and upwards!! COME ON YOU WOLVES!!!

2. Clear off back to Teamtalk :)
£20k for this kid, who will then eventually be sold on for a few grand more, such is the wheeling and dealing we now have to do thanks to McCarthy and his bumbling over the last 2 years
All of our "kids" will be eventually sold to compensate for the lack of revenue
PeteNuts
We should sign up this lad's brothers, Sherman, Septic and Tommy.

in responce to all the people slagging me off on the other feed, yes i am a Walsall fan calling our club a joke for letting the most promising of our youngsters go for a pittance when he might have been in our first team this year.

36. JIWAL -
"All of our “kids” will be eventually sold to compensate for the lack of revenue"....you sound like a Walsall fan!
I think getting our Tank for £20k is great business - Tank would have been our reserve centre-half this season (Butler and Smith were earmarked as first choice) and that's why Dean Smith let Ollie Lancashire go....but of course it ain't worked out like that and now we've lost both Tank and Smith as well. Got any spare centre-halves we can have...oh and can you pay their wages?

no37 Pete Nuts, What about Panzer? Might need someone to take the penalties.
