Karl Henry today pledged everyone at Wolves is behind caretaker-boss Terry Connor as the team continued preparations for Saturday’s return to action at Newcastle.
The combative midfielder is available again after completing his three-match ban for his sending off against Villa.
And, while the 29-year-old was desperately disappointed to see boss Mick McCarthy depart after the 5-1 debacle against Albion, he said the squad are all behind long-serving Connor.
“I’m looking forward to being available again,” said Henry.
“It seems a long time since I played and it’s been a strange time with the manager leaving. Whoever is in charge, we must get behind them, embrace what they’ve got to say and make sure we’re all singing from the same hymn sheet. Things carry on as normal with TC. I’ve known him for as long as I’ve been here and he’s a good guy who’s got the respect of the dressing room.
“We’re all behind him and we know we’ve underperformed this season both individually and as a group. Individuals have got to raise their games. With ‘TC’ in charge there’s not too much that’s been different. He was always involved in training sessions with the gaffer and if he’s in charge for the Newcastle game then great.
“All the boys are behind him already and for everyone’s sake we’ve to get a good result on Saturday.”
