Wolves loan star Emmanuel Frimpong out for season

Wolves this afternoon received a massive blow with the news that Emmanuel Frimpong is out for the rest of the season.

The midfielder ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Saturday’s Premier League win at QPR during a fair challenge with Joey Barton, and has returned to parent club Arsenal.

Frimpong, who had been due to remain at Molineux until the end of the season, will now see specialists in London over the next few days before undergoing surgery.

The 20-year-old suffered the same injury to his left knee in 2010.

But he had made a highly impressive start to life at Wolves in his five games for the club.

Frimpong is expected to be out for a several months and will miss the rest of the season.

A statement released by the club today said: “Everyone at Wolves would like to thank the midfielder for his efforts while at the club and join Arsenal in wishing him a swift recovery.”

Very tough luck. But he will come back. Roby Baggio did cruciates in both knees at the same age and was out for nearly two years – and what a career he had afterwards,

Massive blow just as he was settling in and we had at last forward movement from defence.

Wish him well for the future, another long road for him.

Gutted. He showed the type composure and skill on the on the ball that we’ve been missing all season, plus he didn’t mind getting stuck in as well. Was really looking forward to his partnership with O’hara in mid-field.

If by the grace of God we survive for a fourth crack at the Prem, maybe we can try and prise him away from Mr. Wenger in the summer.

    Thanks ‘Manny’.

obviously something like this would happen to us.
Morgan had better be kicking himself for not investing more in the team. Yes, he was an impressive loanee, but now all we have to rest our hopes for the season on is Bassong. Good luck to the lad… UTW

    BIG BAD TELFORD WOLF

Gutted…this is a huge blow to our survival hopes, i too wish him a speedy recoverey but this just shows what a mockerey our transfer policy has been during the window, how lightweight are we now in midfield??? what options now, recall Guedioura from Forest or an emergancy loan if the prem will sanction it? the three M’s should be ashamed of themselves for the shortsightedness shown by them…. oh well only the biggest game iof the season to look forward to on sunday, a real crunch game of a derby against the tescos, the kind of game where the frimpiong would have thrived….typical.

    wolves always…

So depressing – just when I thought there was light. Typical that he gets his head kicked off and comes straight back and a nothing challenge finishes his season. Would like to wish him all the best, must be tough to come back from a cruciate and then do the other one. Seems like a long time now since our days of weekly losing players to this. Still remember going to Vale and 2 players doing theirs on the same day, I’m going to say Corica and Gilkes but someone will correct me. Remember the medical staff getting Corica up and telling him to run it off – and they say nothing has improved.

    Keep The Faith

More wretched bad luck for us! His performance v Villa gave us a glimpse of what he is capable of and I, for one, was looking forward to seeing him in the team with O’Hara.

I wish the lad a speedy recovery and thank him for his brief contribution to our season. Good Luck fella!

Has to be 4-4-2 now with Henry or Edwards alongside O’Hara,Jarvo and Kites wide and Doyle up with Fletch.
