Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Jamie O’Hara poised for Wolves comeback
Friday 3rd February 2012, 11:00AM GMT.
Jamie O’Hara is in line for a shock Premier League return in Wolves’ hour of need at Loftus Road tomorrow.
Manager Mick McCarthy is toying with the idea of ushering his key midfielder back into the fray for the crunch survival clash with QPR.
After a six week lay-off following a double hernia, O’Hara completed a 45-minute comeback in the reserves this week and is champing at the bit to get back into a team which has not won since he suffered the injury in the defeat at Manchester United on December 10.
O’Hara finished that return to action with a typically upbeat message on Twitter, telling followers: “Felt great tonight 45mins under my belt, can’t wait for the next prem game gonna be raring to go.”
And with Wolves pressed into a corner and under mounting pressure to retrieve a desperate survival plight, McCarthy is pondering whether to risk O’Hara in tomorrow’s critical contest against a much-strengthened but still-threatened QPR.
Wolves are in dire need of a lift after this week’s disturbing collapse against Liverpool which was followed by an angry broadside at the players by chairman Steve Morgan.
The next two games are seen as pivotal to the long-serving boss’s prospects of riding out the storm, even with the unflinching support to date from Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey.
After QPR comes the Black Country derby at Molineux although the players are taking fresh heart from the thinning number of fixtures against the Premier League’s top clubs and recently-productive away form.
“We’ve had our meetings, we know what we’ve got to do – and we’ve got a massive game tomorrow,” said captain Roger Johnson.
“The Liverpool game was another one of the top six that we’ve played and got out of the way.
“What’s going to keep us in this league is games against the sides around us. And it starts tomorrow
“There’s 15 games to go. There’s a lot of points to be played for, we’ll be there until the death.”

Here they go again – i wish they would just shut up and play whoever is in front of them. Why do they insist in stoking up the oposition by stating that ‘we’ve got the big guns out of the way now so we’ll be looking for three points on saturday’ – They do it every time. Get the big guns out of the way and the points will come. It happened last season. We played the top 4 teams five times in two weeks and targetted 9 points against west ham, fulham and wigan (i think it was)… we ended up with 1 point!!! – so please… just shut up and play!!

I see Roger is talking up the team again… I do wish at the moment the team would say nothing.. everyone can see that confidence is rock bottom and as soon as the 1st goal went in on Tuesday the team just folded. We need to do our talking on the pitch – if we played as well as we spoke we would be challenging for the title!
GOOD! One of the few class players we have, a bit of quality in the midst of oceans of perspiration. Get him back on the pitch. One of the other players we have with premier league ability is Doyle, currently sitting on the subs bench doing nothing. Get him back on the pitch too, in the ‘hole’ behind Fletcher, and maybe things will change. Maybe. The vast acres of space in our midfield for Liverpool players to run around in the other night also prove how devastating a loss Henry is to the team.
I’d go for Pat Rice and Ince or Ole Gunner.
Will all of the players stay with us and fight to the death next season in the Championship to get us back up Roger?
The fact that we are so desperate to get Jamie, who is our best player, back shows how little quality we have in midfield. He is the only player we have who can get the ball forward though the middle without giving the ball away. If we stay up this season we have to try to bring in players of O’hara’s standard. Our lack of real quality throughout the squad has shown this year and players like jonnson are just not good enough. Now that the transfer window has closed and MM has been backed to stay until the end of the season, all we can do is get behind the team. It’s one thing to sing and shout when were on the up, real supporters can do it when things aren’t going so well. Keep the faith, we are wolves.

2) Very valid point by the captain – who has started playing better but could not have been much worse. The 8 games in February and March, decide our season. A minimum 11 points are required or we are a goner.
4) We must go 4-5-1 in away games and I therefore agree with your team apart from Milijas for Ebanks-Blake!

There seems to be a big assumption that Berra is going to be dropped for Bassong. I know he likes pulling shirts a bit too much but having seen every game this season i think Berra is better in the side than Johnson. He gives 100% EVERY game and quite often is the one who comes in with last ditch tackles once Johnson and the midfield in front of him have been turned inside out.
In some games our back 4 gets hardly any protection from our midfield – no wonder they are being branded as poor. As they say the best form of defence is to attack – something we cannot do. Time and time again our only outlet is a pair of wingers who are playing so poor they don’t even get a cross in (except that wonderful 20 minute period we had against Villa. Our opposition have wised upto this and Mick cannot think of a plan B.

I find it interesting that there is 1 player who could do a lot of talking to the press etc but has not uttered a single word and that man is… Stephen Fletcher!
He, out of all the players has more to shout about than anyone but he keeps his silence and goes about his job without the ‘we shall do this or we shall do that’ we read almost daily from the others.
Now if only those others would perform and keep their mouths closed like Fletch, there would be no need for constant criticism and just probably… McCarthy would keep his job, but don’t hold me to that one please!

Im Sorry and i mean no Offence. People who shout for MM’s head are idiots. Ok Get rid of MM and bring in some other manager who is sooooo good they find themselves out of a job. Are you serious? MM kept us up twice, and meh if we go down its a learning curve, we have never been a top half team so why the expectation is so high i will NEVER know. We have quality, and the bite, but we also have some not so high quality, And they keep making the mistakes, Wolves football has changed, and when we play, we play like legends, but when sum1 slips up, we all seem to take the downfall. MM has done great, with a couple of key players on loan and spent nearlly nothing, which is what a good manager will do, not throwing money at everything, if this pays off then in the future we will be one of the most legendary clubs, just for the fact we will be in the prem for 5-6 seasons, have no debt, will of expanded and THEN we can spend. This is just the rise, you reckon any team comes up doesnt go down and are amazing? NOPE everyone stuggles.
I see Roger is talking to much and performing too little.
For me, he is in no position to talk about getting matches ‘out the way’ against the top 6.
He was at fault for the second goal. Eggert Jonsson at fault for the first – after an inexplicable decision to push a developing Scottish PL player into the English Prem.
Berra is a more solid performer – so Berra and Bassong for me as CBs.
When will Mick realise that by trying to defend we just get taken apart.
A question: If you have 5 shots on goal vs your opponents having 20 – on average who is more likely to win?
Why on earth Doyle (scoring or not), one of our most talented footballers is sat on the bench I cannot understand. He adds enough as a non-scoring creative player to justify a place – just behind Fletch.
Last question: how on earth did Hunt get a run out? He has been carp all season and hasn’t beat his man or put in a decisive cross for as long as i can remember. Yet Kightly (our brightest 1st half player) makes way for him.
Inexplicable decisions, by an inexplicable manager.
We are in 19th position for very good reason.
We have the quality in the squad to be mid table.
We need to play to our strenghts.
That means creativity and attack – not being taken apart by trying to defend.

Our best player? Do you go? I haven’t seen him have a good game this year at all.
What about Fletcher then? or Frimpong? Kights?
Although I agree, it’s good to have him back and long as he’s fit and match ready otherwise based on his performances this season, I would put him on the bench.
I would go for Doyle sitting behind Fletcher.
I think Doyle’s perfect for that role. One of the few people able to hold the ball up and pick out another player in a Wolves shirt.
Personally, I would drop Hennessey. Yes, he makes a lot of good saves but those goals against Liverpool were soft and not for the first time this season too.

in the current market, some managers will improve wwfc, but can anyone win trophies with the budget offered by morgan?.
a couple of seasons ago leeds utd spent £100, million to win trophies, and got relegated.
its not about splashing money about but how you spend it. carroll, 30 million=2 goals
torress 50=million=4 goals.
mcarthy has been given money, but has wasted it, but even he has’nt been given enough to win trophies.
after all, that is the aim , while playing attractive football, is’nt it?

14, makes an interesting comment. I’m not suggesting Dave Jones as a replacement, but I believe he was given an extremely rough and unfair ride. He’s a better manager than McCarthy and I suspect more than capable in mid premier or even higher. Never had the support and had he, I believe we would have survived.
In my opinion, Mick is not a man with the necessary intellect or ability to manage in the Premier. Sadly, we missed the opportunity of enticing O’Neill or Hughes to Molineux. A massive error in judgement on the part of Mr Morgan and that view is not benefitting from hindsight. Nonetheless, there must be good alternative managers around and Mr Morgan needs to act immediately if he is to have any chance of saving my team of 50+ years.
Long live the “The Old Gold”

Sorely missed in midfield. I think he can do the job that Edwards did in the first half against Liverpool, but he would be more effective, as he has much better close control and better shooting.
Without O’hara, our only outlay is on the wings, with O’hara we can go through the middle aswell. Hopefully this will make us more of a threat going forward, but that wont make any difference whatsoever if the defence doesnt make vast improvements.
Alot of people wonderd why our defence backed off of their man so much against Liverpool. The simple answer is, our defence isnt quick enough. They arent going to commit themselves into a challenge when they know none of their fellow defenders are going to catch up with play. That is why I hope Bassong can inject some much neded pace into the back four. If we cant start keeping some clean sheets, we are in serious trouble. If we can, then the situation we are currently in is more than fixable.

Good point about Henry, no.6, without him we were asking a boy to do a man’s job on Tuesday and it showed!
As for tomorrow, I would put O’Hara on the bench and let him have the last 30 minutes if we need fresh legs at the end.He is bound to be ‘rusty’ and we cannot afford to make a slow start (as we did in the home match v QPR). Give Doyle a go just behind Fletch. He may be lacking goals but he has plenty of energy to get up and support the main striker when needed and will be less prone to being forced to chase off down the wings. If it ain’t working, bring on Jamie to do the same job in the second half.I will be there tomorrow cheering on the lads and I hope this is the team:-

bla bla bla O’neil bla bla bla Hughes bla bla bla sack Mick.
Seriously, how on earth can you lot call Mick deluded when you think we can just snap our fingers and get in any replacement of our choosing.
O’Neil left Villa because he wasnt getting the funding he felt he deserved, so why on earth does anyone think that he would even have considerd coming to Wolves.
Hughes openly stated he only wanted to go to a club with ambition which roughly translates to “I only want to go to a club that are going to give me a bumper contract and Millions to spend, so i can get a nice easy ride for a few years. If things arent going well I will just throw yet more millions at some new players and things will be peachy again.” Hes a coward of a manger who wont be sucessful unless he has the money to back him up. even the likes of Avram Grant have proven that with the right funding they can look a better manager than what they actually are.
Say what you like about Mick, but at least hes not a coward. Hes not going to point the finger at the board when things are going tough. Whereas I gaurentee that any of the managers that have been mentioned would jump ship quicker than Francesco Schettino, if the board didnt deliver on any of their demands.

I’d go 4-3-3 on Sat. We have the players for this, we don’t for 4-4-2 as our midfield and defense isn’t strong enough and 4-5-1 limits our attacking threat.
Hennessey
Zubar Johnson Bassong Ward
Frimpong O’Hara Milijas
Doyle Fletcher Jarvis/Kites
I think despite his lack of goals Doyle needs to be in the team as he holds the ball up better then anyone else, brings others into play, creates and doesn’t give the ball away cheaply. He can play this role as he often drifts to the right wing and runs the channels.
If we could get a result at QPR it would be a turning point and give us confidence going into the WBA games, if we were to lose both matches I can’t see how we’ll get it back.
As for sacking Mick, he should have gone ages ago and Allardyce, O’Neil or Hughes should have had the job. However, now the transfer window is shut there is little point getting rid of him until the summer at least but even then is there anyone else who could lead us back up and then keep us in the Prem? All the good managers are now in work. I’d go for Paul Lambert or Brendan Rodgers and pay the compensation.

27…. Oneill and Hughes were out of work for ages,Doesnt looked to have done them any harm.
I agree with you that Mad Mick has done a fantsatic job by turning getting the club to where we are now but his record at this level speaks for its self. He HAS had money to spend,Doyle,Fletch,Ohara,Johnson and has also wasted a lot of money. Look at what Swansea and Norwich have spent and where they are…reason being they have QUALITY managers!
Our only hope now is to get some quality on the pitch against teams like QPR and Albion.
O’Hara and Bassong are important in that respect.
I’m maybe guessing wrong, but, without Henry you can see how poorly we defended and it could be Bassong takes Henry’s role in front of the back line. If Foley is going to play like he did on tuesday then Stearman has to come back in. Johnson and Ward need to improve too, Berra was the best of a poor defence.
O’Hara in midfield is key to the rest of the season, he ain’t perfect, in fact a bit annoying at times, but, he has that extra quality that could just make the difference. No point in playing Milijas he’s proved time and again he is not up to standard.
Finally, let’s show our manager some respect. Football managers have a limited shelf life at any given club, in these days of instant gratification that’s the way it is and maybe Mick’s time at Molineux is drawing to a close. Just remember what he has done for this club, something a miserable string of predecessors couldn’t do. Don’t turn on hime like those dispicable morons at Blackburn, he doesn’t deserve that. Results from now until May will be his judge and at a time like this we need to be behind him and the players.
Good luck everyone at Loftus Road

Is the Christmas party season over then ? As fot Moxey calling for full support, he is joking isn’t he? Why should anyone fall for this spin in such a dire situation is beyond me; But this is about JM getting the heat off his back; All that is wrong at WWFC can be traced to this marketing man and his sticky fingers; He may not be the manager, but he has supported him, ditto the poor signings and Morgan’s ambitious building projects; If he thinks fans are going to be emotionally blackmailed into keeping stum, he is most mistaken; As for the ‘early bird con’, as we already pay Premier prices to watch a Championship team in the Prem, why pay Prem prices to watch a Championship team in the Prem? If you do a breakdown of what the CEO costs you if you add salary, bonuses, expenses, pension contributions etc etc, he takes the first £36 of your season ticket monies; The Manager nearer £50;Ohara £111; Morgan, well if you take away wages from income that leaves £20m+,he ain’t making that every year but let’s say I bet he ain’t far off £6m through various ‘dips’,along with the increase of the value of the club if he sells?

Nope I didnt know Doherty had gone. Shame cause Foley was rubbish against Liverpool
and Doherty looks a decent prospect.
I realise dropping Hennessey was a bit contentious and was wondering whether to include him or not.
My own feeling was 2 wins in 22 pre games meant we had to do something major and radicle, hence dropping him.
You are right Hennessey has been great but I thought a couple of the goals against Liverpool he was part at fault for so was thinking to give De Vires a go, but hey, I’m not precious over the goalie.
I just think we need to be radicle and I’m near 100% sure that McCarthy won’t be.
If I had my way I’d get rid of Edwards from the team too, but I can’t think of anyone any better to replace him with!

These are critical days for Wolves premiership survival and all MM can do is play the strongest team from what is clearly a poor squad. Our biggest problem for the past two seasons or even longer has been defending particularly in the centre. So if you play Bassong who will you leave out ?. My guess is he will leave out Berra who has progressed slightly but is still a poor premiership defender. Does he also replace Hennesey who on many occasions has made some great saves but also lets in too many goals that should be stopped. Maybe De Vries should have a run. If there is a chance that O’Hara is fit then he has to play and he will know if he needs to come off. Come on Wolves.

Of course that should be ‘watching a Championship side in the Championship, whilst paying Premier League prices’; Also most clubs are REDUCING their mean season ticket price; If fans wait till August you can bet a Ticket for 23 Championship games will come down from the mean £560.00 now to nearer $400.00

It’s too late to sack the idiot now, that ship sailed in December.
All we can do now is support the team and pick up the pieces at the end of the season.
Our club may be in a comfortable state financially but the moral practises of those upstairs leave a lot to be desired.
The clubs lifeblood is the fans, how can they hope to attract youngsters to watch a club that refuses to compete at the same financial level as anyone else out of the top six.
Moxey and Mogan should hang their heads for their poor performances every bit as much as the manager and players.
Still, as we say in these parts:

Depressing isn’t it, I pray for the day when Moxey & Mccarthy leave us alone. So that we can get a team worthy of our name playing in this division.
Welcome back to the nightmare O’hara

Good point realist and I doubt we could get Lambert, Rodgers or Poyet. The best we can hope for is to finish 17th and West Ham not to come up and take Big Sam.
If we go down then we need to get 2 people in and think about the future Wilkins and someone or Ince and someone or Ole Gunner and someone or Di Matteo.
Not Bruce not Warnock not Jones not Curbishley. If we lose the next 2 games should Mick go? At the moment I see little point but 2 more losses and there is no point in keeping him.

This article which ignores what has happened thus far this season and talks wistfully of possible jam tomorrow, is in keeping with the call to arms from Jez Moxey where he talks of there being a hell of a lot of points still to be played for, whilst ignoring the even greater numbers of points that have already been lost.
If O’Hara plays and is not fully fit then it’s a gamble for which there is no justification, a futile gesture, which could damage the player unnecessarily.
Wolves’ problems are not of the quick fix variety, the standard of football they have played this year, and the lack of style/skill they have displayed are problems for future seasons and, just as importantly, other people to put right. However, it seems even now the old guard are to remain ad nauseum and if they do, so will the problems.
I wish the team every success, relegation is a damning blow and can be massively damaging in every way, but I truly can’t see a wretched defence suddenly becoming effective or a formation suddenly appearing that will play Premier standard football.
I’m too sad at the moment to even go for a pint, and I am well due one.:(

Leave the MMM witch hunt now lads, we have to concerntrate on this Saturday.
Get O’Hara in immediately, he will be the difference as he was at this stage last season.
Kightly did not track back well against Liverpool, nor in the second half against Villa. Hennesey was poor on Tuesday, however, so was everyone else, so my team against QPR is:
Hennesey
Foley Bassong Johnson Ward
Hunt O’Hara Frimpong Edwards Jarvis
Fletcher
Plenty on the bench with Kites, Doyle and Hammill. Miljas is a good sub to have as well.
On paper, we can beat them, it all depends if we turn up or not.
Come on Wolves, don’t let us down anymore this season or Morgan will be bashing down the dressing room door like Jonny with the Shining!!

Totally agree! good post. The time for change has come and gone, Hair gel has been at it again today saying change will not come so the fans are just gonna have to suck it up and do the only thing they can and Support the team!
I hope Tuesday was the climax of our frustraions and anger and now we can start to calm down and get behind the Wolves until the end of the season. The only thing we can do now is back the team to the end. But they have to perform! I don’t mind loosing a game as long as the team put in some effort.
After being so angry after liverpool I couldn’t watch the highlights but I have now seen MOTD and think we actually played quite good in the first half… The ability is there it just needs to be released and we can help by being as loud as we can!
I’m glad our next game is an away game I think Wolves and the Molinuex need a little break after the lovers tiff… I’m also glad our next home game is the Derby with WBA!! this alone should be enough to create an amazing atmosphere regardless of what the fans think of the team or managment. Tesco is coming to the Mol we need to show them who we are and be as loud as possible… thinking of last years 3-1 victory is getting me excited already and I can’t wait for it!
Glad O’Hara is coming back I think he should be captain.
2-1 Wolves.
Com’on Wolves!!

Stick with Mick, as we lost our chance to recruit a better manager in the transfer window and at the moment there aren’t any betters managers. If we stay up this season I’d sack him anyway, he’s had two chances to establish the team in the premiership, (not including the first season in the prem) yet we still end up in a survival battle. He doesn’t deserve a third! If West Ham or Birmingham don’t get promoted and we stay up go for Big Sam or Hughton.
Eggert Jonnson was a waste of money, looks like another Leigh Griffiths? Shows Mick’s and the the scouting system calibre, TERRIBLE. They think that becausethey unveiled a gem in Kightly and Jarvis that it makes up for the rest of crap they have signed! Why waste that half a million when we could of used it to maybe tempt Robbie Keane back until the end of the season?

Noticed a few days ago, a news item stating that Doherty has joined Hibs on loan for the rest of the season. I didn’t believe it, he was my man of the match recently, when we desperately need decent defenders why has MM let him go out on loan? I have never called for Milijas to be a regular fixture in the first team, to me he is a bit like Berbetov of Man U, okay when you are attacking, but a distinct liability when you are defending, as he never seems to closely mark anyone, and is inclined to let them run freely. Vokes gone to Brighton, Keogh gone to Millwall yet we couldn’t sign a fourth striker because we can’t guarantee him a starting place! Not surprised really, if we only need three strikers then it looks like we are only going to play 4 – 5 – 1 for the remainder of the season (which is bound to cheer Doyle and SEB up no end). In fact I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, why doesn’t MM play Doyle as an attacking midfielder in the position Edwards is currently occupying? Doyle can run all day, hold the ball up well, and act as a link up man between the midfield and Fletcher its probably his best position!

Now I am not one for name calling and i completely disagree with insulting comments about our manager and board, they are passionate and they care, but i was rather startled by the latest comments from Jez Moxey about getting behind the team and manager.
Yes i think we have a good board, and in years to come when the football money spent by oligarchs goes east to Russia and India and China, i feel we will be well set. However, Mr Moxey’s comments strike me as one blind to outside objective opinions. Wolves have been awful, we are disorganised, players playing out of position (ie, striker as a left back)frantic and constantly let teams wander up to our 25 yard area or down the wings to pass it around for pot shots at the beleagured Hennesey! It’s amateurish.
I can only assume there is closeted bunker mentality in that boardroom as they stand over a campaign map moving around phantom forces whilst refusing to accept the inevitable. We are not bad fans, and far more tolerant than some, we just want someone, somewhere,to objectively study the facts and to do something!
Why can’t we comment on the other story and Jez’s call for unity?
“there’s no point in anything other than 15 games of getting up and at ’em”
“Let’s continue to be positive. Let’s get that spirit right from within so that we help give the team the confidence they need.”
But so far we’ve had 23 games based on the strategy of running around a lot, hoof and “parking the bus”. This has resulted in our princely total of 4 wins. How is “continuing” anything going to suddenly reverse our fortunes?
What utter nonsense. Mick and his team (both coaching and playing) have to change the way that they do things. They should have been looking at this for the last 18 months in order to progress and should probably have been sacked/moved on for failing to do so.
That said it’s too late now, so instead of the spin and platitudes, lets see some positivity on the pitch, some desire to be creative and make things happen rather than just hoof and hope. Dare I say it, maybe we even try to shoot on occasion.

Wolves’ top brass are backing the boss
Hope this is the equivalant of a Vote of Confidence!!!!
Let’s face the facts.
Morgan has a building company. If a bricklayer or Labourer ain’t pulling their weight,it’s up to the chargehand to sort things out, shape or or ship out.Failing this, face the wrath of Morgan & get the sack. In this instance McCarthy is the bricklayer, Connor is the labourer & Moxey the chargehand.Time for a clear out from the Treasurer downwards!I’m sure we have the squad there who are good enough to get us out of this mess, but fear McCarthy as taken Wolves as far as he could.Graham Turner, smashing bloke & loved him for what he did for Wolves, but just couldn’t take us back to the promised Land. Mick as now reached that stage.
Who would I replace Mcarthy & Connor with?
Curbishley, with Ray Wilkins as his assistant.Chelsea’s results with Wilkins there spoke for themselves.Since he left….
Onto tomorrow’s match. I hope O’Hara makes his comeback, but rather rest him for another week,in case he aggravates his injuries, putting him out of action for another 6-8 games.
He needs to play O Hara, who has been sadly missed in the creative role.
Probably too early but he has created his own problem by sending the other attacking midfielder Adlene out on loan.
If he does play O Hara he also needs to wingers, two strikers SEB not Doyle.
He needs to rethink his cross field negative passing and get on with it, we cannot keep hoping to defend for a result.
Although Berra has played generally better this season he is too prone to mistakes and has been lucky not give penalties away in the last few games, so he needs to be dropped.
On results and tactics alone Morgan should have sacked McCarthy this week
It is no use ranting unless you are going to follow it up with action.
Let’s hope for a good result at QPR and a better display from the team.

I see Moxey has reiterated support for McCarthy well its on his head then because I dont believe that McCarthy has the capabilities to get us out of the mess he got us into.So if you believe that Jez you have either accepted relegation or believe that McCarthy can achieve 22 points from 15 games of which include Man City,Man Utd and Arsenal which effectively means we have to score an average of 1.84 points per game which is what the top 4 teams are achieving just do the maths and see how possible it is your the accountant. The truth is the upper management have chosen the cheap way out again and have totaly let down the fans with their pre season promises so predicatable.

Get Mick out and get someone in who know’s what he is doing. We have enough games to stay up, but f we all go quiet and leave Mick to it, we will have less of a chance in 2 or 3 games.. After we have lost to QPR and WBA.. We need a change now to lift the whole club.. Including us fans.. Only a fool would hide his head in the sand and leave things as they are.. That is the mentality of a loser.. I do not think that way, and I thought Wolves had more guts than this.. They rather hang on to a guy who cannot win a match.. They rather take us all down with them.. The cavalry could be coming if only we would call the bugle.

While i am pleased that OHara may be available to play against QPR, I wanted to comment on the other report regarding Moxey’s support of the team and Manager.
We all want three points from the game – that goes without saying. However, any win for us is going to be an event given our appalling record this season. Now Moxey gives an apparent blessing to the Manager and his staff and players – what happens if we turn in another awful performance ( even one of MM’s “heroic efforts”!!!) on Saturday? Will Morgan and Moxey continue to “support” the Manager?
MM has come out today and said the goal is 38 points for the season. To achieve that we need to secure 44% of the 45 points left to play for. To date, we have only secured 26% of the available points so our record has to improve by 100% in the balance of the season. Sounds admirable, but is it realistic given the way we are playing – we do not keep clean sheets and we score precious few goals ( most if not all of them coming from Fletcher!!!).
For the sake of the fans I hope they do it but do not bet your life savings on it happening!!!

“We’re going down there to try to win a game like we always do.” SAID THE MANAGER. So take that as confirmation of a 4-5-1 line up. Does anybody really think that after the “story” of Morgans folly, even if it were true, it will make much of a difference?
How many times have the words “fired up” been used by Wolves players this season and found to have been nothing more than dribbled drivel after the final whistle has blown?
With Rangers new players, new boss and new found belief, I don’t see much change coming our way.
New manager required to get some life out of a squad containing some good players and too many average one.
Alan Curbishley please.
And to the poster who suggested an out of work manager can’t be a good manager, get real. Most former Premiership managers are well enough off to be able to afford to wait for the right moment to return.

Okay, let’s dissect your little tantrum a piece at a time.
“Happy clappers like you”
I’ll ignore the fact that you are unable to give your post any original thought and have to resort to cliches. I presume by “happy clapper” you mean a football fan who is unable to be objective and cannot find fault with what’s being presented on the field in front of him. Read my post again, sunshine, you haven’t grasped it. Read it slowly, or maybe get a friend to read it to you.
“Traitors who have brought the Wolves to this sorry state”
I presume you mean the Premiership by “sorry state”. You know, the League that touted as the best in the World.
Strangely enough watching Wolves become League Champions, win both Cups, play in Europe and then plumb the depths at Chorley doesn’t feel like treachery, and supporting them back to the top division after years of becoming becalmed in the Championship doesn’t want to make me hang my head in shame, either.
Your third paragraph is a real cracker. How would my lack of football savvy and misguided loyalty have got rid of McCarthy ?
I somehow don’t think you are trying to highlight my personal influence on this great club of ours, I believe it’s because you haven’t got the brains to put together a coherent sentence, or, at the very least read it back and realise what a buffoon you are.
You stay in the darkness, pal, it’ll be for the best.

I totally agree with Richwolf64’s initial idea of dropping Hennessey. Yes, he has had some superb displays this season but he has also let a few in in recent weeks which he should have done better with. Saying this it’s not his goalkeeping ability that concerns me it’s his lack of a voice and being able to organise HIS defence. Two seasons ago we were in a similar situation and the main reason we stopped up was Hannemann came into the side and suddenly our defence looked a lot more disciplined and organised. Hennessey, on the whole, is one of the few to have had a decent season but his lack of authority with those in front of him is worrying so maybe it is time for a change.
I’d also bring Doyle back into the fold, just because …. ….we won the first two games of the season with Fletcher and Doyle up top and we haven’t done much since so let’s go back to where we started. Not really a good enough reason but heyho… lets go. I don’t wanna be a pinhead no more.

Divided board.
Steve Morgan lays into the team
Mick McCarthy doesnt like it
Moxey says there is unity
Erm when we are relegated which we will be under Mick McCarthy I would like to know the truth of who is telling the truth. Less face facts.
1 “new” outfield player signed in the summer.
A ridiculous statement to rebuild molinuex which most fans at the time thought GREAT WE ARE IN THE BIG TIME!” But take a step back and think… WHY? We just stayed up by the skin of our teeth and we are going to rebuild the stadium where really the team needed investment.
Steve Morgan & Jez Moxey quoted in saying. “We wont make that mistake again, we will invest big, we are heading to top 6!” REALLY!
Wolves after a bright start go on a poor run since sept and we are still in that poor run but the manager is still in a job where clubs like sunderland, qpr, sack their manager and look at their recent progress!
During the season, Morgan says we need to rebuild & extend the academy. WHY MORGAN WHY, Which player from the academy has broke in the side and stayed there>>>>????? Doherty doesnt count as he is on loan. Players like Mark Davies gets sold as he cant get into the mick team of running around like a headless chicken football! I fear zele ismail will be the next to be shwon the door as Mick has his irish favourites!
During the season, the steve bull stand wont be re-buiit…. ran out of money I would assume??
Jan transfer window a disaster. we need strength in depth what happened to the desirory £4.5M warchest??
Lastly Morgan loses his rag and storm into the dressing room. Basically tells me he is peed off and sees Mick is not giving the same dressing down. Mick defends them,,, but you cant keep defending them Mick, try to do the right thing and drop players who dont perform. Hunt what an awful player, what has hammill done wrong??
As I say once we are relegated which we are favourites I want the aboved answered please.

All that aside, me and almost all other supporters wiil, as ever, get right behind the team and keep behind them while they compete.
It just gets increasingly difficult to be positive during our third successive relegation battle, when the team seems to be going backwards in terms of both perfomances and results and we find ourselves 2 or 3 nil down yet again. Really Jez? I think the time do something was 12-18 months ago. Over the close season the whole football side of things should have been reviewed and changes made as needed to move us forward after we so nearly got relegated. Failure to do this and apparently work entirely on the basis that we would stay up because we had done twice before, has left us in the mess we are now and it’s this that has led to the negativity.
The fans, as ever, will get right behind the team if they have something(anything) to cheer. If the playing side improves (or shows at least a vague hint of some improvement) then everyone will be a lot more positive.

The arrogance of McCarthy is staggering so he doesnt like Steve Morgan airing his views ,if he hadnt done such a poor job of managing the team this season there wouldnt have been a need.He is so lucky to still have his job but you wouldnt think it listening to him whinging about Steve Morgan having his say ,never mind you keep taking the money Mick.

I’m amazed how many people suddenly think QPR look a good team.
Having watched the match on Monday night I thought both QPR and Newcastle looked poor to me.
Apart from SWP and Tabart, QPR look pretty average across the rest of the team ( Barton included).
I would expect us to comfortably beat them.
No need to to get nervous, I shall be down the bookies putting a few pounds on 3 points to the Wolves.

Enough is enough. Morgans rant at the players is just the start. Let’s hope he has finally got his head out of the sand and is busy making plans to replace the muppet and his staff, sooner the better. Seems to me that Micks days are finally numbered. Time to get a proper manager, eg Keegan/Wilkins/Roy Keane.

Cannot believe how many of the people putting teams out would prefer Johnson to Berra. You have to be kidding. Berra may not be the pick of the league, but he puts his body on the line every week and he has retrieved defensive screwups and covered for Johnson. I have never seen a centre back who gets hiself in so many awkward situations as Johnson, he is totally off balance the whole time and does not commit to the tackle. If you were saying Craddock and Bassong over Berra and Johnson, yes, but you can never fault Berra for a lack of commitment.
I’ve yet to see johnson make a goal saving tackle. And as the “big man” in defence he should have been marking another clumsy uncoordinated big man in Andy Carroll, who looked like Didier Drogba against us on Tuesday.
Themn I read we missed Carl Henry on Tuesday, please. All we needed was another one kicking the ball back to Henessey to really make a difference.
We need to start looking to ATTACK the opposition. We need to have Milijas behind Fletcher on the attack not playing defnsive midifield, stick Adlene back there. Steven Hunt need not even be on the bench judging by the last two or three games.
Ward needs tp play left back and not drift into the penalty area when we are defending. Jarvis tries to cover for him but two Villa goals were the result of Matt being back there on his own. No objection to Jarvis supporting the left back but not playing left back
It’s all pointless, If Fletcher doesn’t score who will? now we are out of options transfer windo shut, not a striker worth a damn on the bench and a manager so far out of his depth I cannot see the top of his head.
Tomorrow really defines a “Six pointer” and it does not look promising.
Up the Wolves anyway.

When things were going bad for the Gunners, I took the flack and got kicked into touch but management did not kick A*s and get rid of Arsene! No they stuck with him! Stick with MM building a very good team.It takes time to play together well.
Wolves will not go down.
Tomorrow? I predict 2-1 to Wolves with abandonment due to the snow. Replay just needs a draw for us to stay up.

I’m fed up with all of this.
The football we are playing is absolutely crap and I am sure that the Premier League want to see the back of our negative football.I don’t care whether we win or not I just want to see passing football from the back to the forwards and attempts on goal. Please explain to me (an ex footballer) what passing back to the goalkeeper from the kick-off achieves.

#49 farmer ted, same thought struck me about Bassong once I came to terms with all the events of Tuesday. It’s not beyond the bounds of possibility that he might be detailed to bolster midfield, nothing if not versatile the wolves.
Just a thought on Mick, respect yes, but going back to the events of Tuesday and prior, I wonder if the plates haven’t shifted between him and Morgan. If the team performance is poor tomorrow we will at least feel the tremors in this relationship. Can’t help thinking that the ‘quake might not be too far off.
Don’t know if we’ll win at QPR but we have more than plenty to play for. coyw.

Things must be getting really desperate for the MM fan club. No positives to proclaim so they have reverted to throwing insults at anybody who dares disagree with their views. As for Moxeys comments, well it simply speaks volumes about the naivety of the management team. More like the Wolverhampton comedy club if you ask me. Yes I am a fan and yes I will renew my season ticket, however I am hoping MM will be long by next season. He will never walk though and indeed who can blame him when he can continue to pick up a nice little bundle each month.

MM: 38 points – That would be a good tally,” he explained. “That is still possible to do. Is it going to be enough? I think it will be, because I think it will be a low tally that stays up. “No-one wants to be in the bottom three at anytime. The lads are hurting. But there is no panic here. We’ve been in this position before.”
Thanks Mick admitting we have been in this position before – every season under your reign to be precise! And what have you done about it? And no panic. Understandable Mick because you know your job is safe irrespective. Sounds like Corporal Jones from Dad’s Army.
Moxey today contacted the Express & Star to issue a fresh appeal for unity in which he makes a point of backing both players and manager – a public vote of support which would not have happened without Morgan’s approval. “The transfer window is now closed. We’ve done our business. We have 15 games to play, 45 points to contest.” We are looking forward to the future with great optimism. We must not let these last 20 games ruin what has been a magnificent journey over the last four and a half years,” he added.
What tosh! We have done our business in the transfer window – where and when? Sorry I must have blinked! You are looking forward to the future with optimism? You must be joking. A magnificent journey over the last four and a half years? Pleeeeaaseee! Great to be in the EPL but this is the problem with WWFC. No real ambition or guidance ON the field and no coaching off the field during the week.

116Who are WBA anyway????????????????
Hello Hello?
I would guess the Hymn is the Salvation Army Hymn
“When the Roll is Called up Yonder”
(It is very early on a Saturday Morning)
Question
2 wins in 20 games.
Should Morgan get rid of MM?
QPR Nil Points
WBA Nil Points
2 wins in 22 games.
Should Morgan get rid of MM?
When you look at it like this there is no point sacking MM as it is obvious Morgan is now planning life in Fizzy Pop. Has accepted his investment in the Club infrastructure has been premature, but is still sitting on some tidy investment of his own. Club secondary. Lets make sure we spend as little as possible on compensation to existing or incoming manager? Loan deal to appease some of the fans. Maybe wolves may just stay up???
Morgan has to look at himself. Stop swearing in public, and look after the club properly.
Think we all deserve a Pie and a Pint again.
Heaven forbid Wolves lose to WBA.

78 Dealwolf – a fair assessment of the situation today.
96 Lone Ranger – agreed that it’s been pretty much a promise of jam tomorrow from players and others since the middle of October.
I’m not so sure of MM’s replacement, indeed, at this point it is difficult to find a likely candidate, but there were real possibilities before this season started and there should be before the next one.
…………………………
My own posts over the recent past are to the effect I reckon relegation is something that has been anticipated by the hierarchy, albeit not a first choice by any means, they are relatively comfortable with the prospect. They have to be, if not they would have acted months ago.
What they are now doing is trying to manage the reduced expectations many have, and the next phase will be to firm up on a long term plan to get back to the Prem in much better shape than we are at present. For that we may be looking at another five years of MM etc, but mostly in an atmosphere of numerous Championship wins as against regular Premiership good hidings.
Those at the top are not fools and it may be that promotion when it came was a surprise, and did not conform to a the plan for a few more years of stress free existence while the work on the ground and development of the team prepared the way for the Prem. I recall Steve Morgan saying when he took over that the development of the ground and the team should go hand in hand, and as I see it the team jumped the gun, thus we arrived in the Prem early, with a ground he thought to be sub-standard, and in the view of many fans a non-Prem standard manager and team. Hopefully, in a few years time it will be more of an evolutionary rather than a revolutionary progression back to the top table! Let’s hope so.

Well RJ it might be another one of the big six out of the way but last season we took 13 pts from the 12 matches against them this season we have took 2 pts from 9 matches with 3 to play Man U, Man City and Arsenal all at home. So that means we have taken 16 pts from 14 winnable matches with 12 to play writing is on the wall in my opinion
