Dave Edwards aims to hit the goal trail

Dave Edwards today vowed to become more prolific for Wolves after tasting mixed fortunes in front of goal in recent games.
The Wales international headed Wolves ahead in last Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Villa after missing with good shooting chances in that game and in the previous match, the 1-1 draw with Tottenham.
Edwards’s strike was his third goal of the season, but the nature of the midfielder’s hard-running game means the 25-year-old will always get chances.
And the former Shrewsbury man is determined to make more of them.
“I’m sure I’ll get more chances and I’m sure I can chip in with more goals this season,” said Edwards.
“Playing more games will get me more confident and I’m sure I’ll take some more chances.
“I had lengthy conversations with the coaching staff after the Tottenham game.
“I was pretty sure I’d get a chance from a cutback off Matt Jarvis or Michael Kightly if I was arriving late in the box.
“In the past I’ve done well in those positions with scoring my first goal for Wales from a cutback and my first in the Premier League from a cutback.
“Against Tottenham I tried to open my body out which was the wrong thing to do and so I said I wanted to put my foot through the next one.
“I did that against Villa, but unfortunately it ended up going straight to the keeper.”
Edwards’s goal against Villa also meant he had scored on his first and his 100th League appearance for the club.
And Edwards, who has spent four years at Molineux, is enjoying it as much as when he opened his account with a debut strike in a 2-1 win at Scunthorpe in January, 2008.
“I think it was the first time I’ve scored in a Wolves shirt and we’ve not won, which was disappointing,” he said. “It’s no consolation getting a goal when you end up losing.
“It’s a landmark to reach 100 league appearances and I’ve enjoyed my time at Wolves.”
