Christophe Berra on alert for Aston Villa threat
Friday 20th January 2012, 2:17PM GMT.
Christophe Berra today declared Wolves are ready for Robbie Keane’s return with Villa tomorrow.
Wolves have drawn five of their last six Premier League games as Roger Johnson and Berra have tightened things up at the back.
And Berra, who is expected to be the only survivor from Wednesday’s disappointing FA Cup exit to Birmingham, believes Mick
McCarthy’s side are at their best defensively since their goalless draw at Villa Park back in August.
“It was 0-0 that day and defences were on top, and it’s going to have to be the same tomorrow,” said Berra. “Over the last six or eight matches, we’ve been in our best form since the first three games, so we’re not playing badly.
“We’ve not won many but we’ve not been losing either, so hopefully, we can turn those draws into wins. We’ve been in good form in defence, but we’ve got to keep that going.
“We mustn’t let our guard down, we’ve got to stay on the front foot and do what we’ve been doing in the last five or six games.”
Berra believes Wolves must by on guard whoever they face tomorrow.
“Keane might not play – Darren Bent has been the main striker for them all season along with Gabby Agbonlahor,” he said. We’ll have to be alert, no matter who we’re playing against.”
