Wolves chairman Steve Morgan today announced he was ploughing an extra £2 million into revamping Molineux.
The old terrace bar will return and an upmarket restaurant will be created under the plans which were revealed at Molineux today.
The news comes as it was also revealed the second phase of the stadium’s redevelopment – rebuilding the Steve Bull stand – may not take place for another two to three years as the club juggles financial pressures.
Artist’s impressions show diners at the new WV1 Bar and WV1 Restaurant will enjoy panoramic views of the pitch, while the supporters’ bar, renamed the North Bank Bar, will be at ground level.
Mr Morgan today said he believed the new hospitality suite in the revamped Stan Cullis stand would bring Molineux in line with the “best facilities in the world”, as it emerged the cost had risen from £16m to £18m.
“We wanted to create a classy venue, with a traditional feel, which fits with the unique style and atmosphere of Wolves,” he said.
Chief executive Jez Moxey revealed the decision over the Steve Bull stand would be made by the end of February, but vowed it was a case of “when, not if” it would be built.
He said FA requirements to produce more home-grown players for Premier League squads had led to the £50m Compton Park training ground project, putting extra pressure on finances.

Its not a £50 million training ground project and never has been.
It’s a shame the E&S resorts to tabloid type headlines to try and grab readership.
It’s a £3 million training ground project.
Get your facts right. The remaining money is building a school and 50 new homes. The majority of the money is being spent on new homes in a conservation area of which the builders will make a massive profit from.

The ground will look a shambles with just one stand and half a corner built. Should have spent the money on players!

yes morgan, thats the answer to our on field problems, the mistakes we make, the atrocious refereeing decisions, just plough 2 million more of your money into the ground which will be left half empty like your ambitions. We will have 20,000 crowds in a 35,000 seater stadium in the championship with this logic.
Give mick the 2 million to find another SEB, or go and try buy liverpool again, cus sure enough you would b ploughing money into their team if it was yours,

I’m sorry John O’Kane but are you involved in the club behind the scenes in anyway?
If not I suggest you keep it schtum. MM was given funds in the summer but because he only brought in 3 players it’s assumed he didn’t have the money. Nothing to do with the fact MM probably didn’t think there were players out there worth spending money on because he believed (rightly or wrongly) that he had better or how about that when bids were accepted, players just outright didn’t want to come to us (ala Craig Gardner).

The guy’s priorities are totally wrong. What is the point of having”world class ” facilities if you are mid table in the championship?Juggling financial pressures???He is taking us for idiots! We have had 3 years in The Premiership ,Morgan was required to pump in £30,000,000 and Sir Jack wrote off the money owed to him. “Unique style and atmosphere of Wolves” what a load of rubbish!!

Okay, Steve, I’ll take it that the new Bully Stand will be built in three years’ time, then -if not thirty.
For years we could have a daft-looking, lop-sided ground that replaced the (admittedly imperfect, but still quite modern) ‘old’ Molineux.
I’m all for on-field and off-field ambitions, but doing the ground first is looking ever more like putting the cart before the horse.
Everything feels a bit depressing, shambolic and haphazard down at Molineux these days -especially haphazard- or am I the only one to feel this way?

Understand what your saying to some extent Aaran. however in recent interview in e & s tim nash he stated that he believed mick wanted two centre backs however didnt have the funds to do so as it was reliant on selling berra to rangers. if this guy was so ambitious the say 3m sale of berra shouldnt of mattered.

I like Steve Morgan, and under his leadership there is no doubt that we as a club have come a long way (i.e. Premiership for last 3 years and better players – O’Hara, Johnson, Fletcher, Doyle etc).
However, there is no doubt some kind of ulterior motive IMO. If Morgan just wanted to plough money into the club from the goodness of his heart, surely the money would go on the team! However, in building and developing the facilities he is seeing a return in his investment, so this is obviously a major motive for him in owning Wolves. He wanted to take over at Liverpool at a time when they were planning major renovation to their stadium too.
Despite this, as a massive Wolves fan I can’t complain too loudly. Afterall, he has brought us stability and progression both on the pitch and off it. I also think that despite the above, he does have a genuine passion for football and Wolves, you only had to see his face against Blackburn on the last day of last season to know that.
Many fans of other teams would love to be in our position right now. UTW

A delay in building the new Steve Bull stand,in my opinion, will be the right decision.Like many Wolves fans,I am delighted that we have achieved 3 continuous seasons in the Prem, but equally I am dissappointed that we have failed to sign the quality footballers that will keep us there in the longer term. The one consolation is that we are not in debt. The worst case scenario for me,would be stuck back in the Championship, with a barrow full of debt; due to the high cost of rebuilding a stand that in reality does not need rebuilding for at least 10 years.

I have a wheelchair supporter in the new lower tier concrete enclosure and, whilst I am pleased with the good vision of the pitch and clear sight of match action, I am bitterly disappointed at being segregated from the main body of fans in the concrete enclosures that have been ereated. The oncrete kills stadium sound and segregates w/chair users from the main body of fans.
I’m requesting the removal of the high back and side concrete walls and bringing the main spectator seating closer into the w/chair spaces and the upper platforms similarly designed, so as to be more inclusive and avoid segregating w/chair users from the main body of fans.
As a Wolves fan for over 50 yrs and a wheelchair using fan for over 25, I’m bitterly disappointed at the segregated w/chair facilities that have now been created. I hope that genuine consideration will be given to radical changes, along the lines I suggest, before final completion of the new stand and that this great, once in a lifetime, opportunity for inclusive wheelchair using supporter facilities, is not lost forever.

I defy anyone with half an ounce of common sense to suggest that Wolves under Morgans Stewardship have not made considerable forward progress.
Top numpties like RichWolf64 are in denial.
If in 10 years time Morgan sells the club with significant ground developments, a new training facility and secured Premiership football and makes himself a healthy profit who are we as fans to object to that?
He has delivered on his promises so far and earned the right to be respected not abused by the small minority that seek to undermine everything Wolves do or say.

“Unique style and atmosphere of Molineux” i totally agree where else do the fans constantly whine and get on the players backs.
Leave the running of the club to the people who know best, what Morgan has given us is stability and whether he ploughs his funds into areas of wolves that will give him a return on his investment one day then good luck to him. I hope he makes a ridiculous profit out of the club because ultimately that will mean that hes bought us success on and off the pitch. I think Morgan is intelligent enough to know that a fantastic stadium and training complex wont be worth half its potential value with a championship team.

I cannot understand the mentality of so many of the people who post on here. You really should be ashamed of your negativity. Years ago I remember the same nonsense about Sir Jack. He’s doing it as a tax fiddle, he’ll walk away with millions. Don’t you guys ever learn? The club was in shambles until Sir Jack and Steve ploughed their money in. For that I am eternally grateful. Brilliant stadium plans. I’m not 100% happy with performances on the field this year, but we have to remember we’re competing with the big boys now. Of course it’s going to be tough. The 3M’s have done wonders for this club.

Sorry, hard not to be cynical.
The stand that needed replacing was simply the Steve Bull, a closer one needed attaching to the two existing ends to create a far better enclosed atmosphere.
In my opinion we will go down this year, and then it is extremely hard to get back up. Now we have one new lovely but out of sinque stand. All so predictable.
Mind you we can still finish 10th, we can still fill out the ground watching fast flowing football, whilst Moxey picks up his handsome wage. All a pipedream, well except the last bit!

I emailed Mt Morgan and Mr Moxey, with no reply. PLEASE let us have a little comfort, boys. I hope and pray that the service areas and quantity of toilets increases also. I love the passion of my fellow Wolves supporters. Whether for or against the present regime, the comments all portray a deep desire to see the club do well.
When the team isn’t winning somebody has to pay. Even the great benefactor Sir Jack shamefully once received a tirade of abuse. Nobody is immune. Where a lot of people make a mistake though is to believe that there are easy answers to the problems of competing in the world’s strongest league. In a lot of instances these people believe the answers are at their own fingertips. Business leaders like Steve Morgan and experienced managers like McCarthy are blind to them. We all like to fantasise a little
Although this squad is the strongest assembled for many a year, the truth is that it has fallen marginally short at crucial times this season. The good news is that for the rest of the season the squad is competent enough to perform marginally above expectations and finish on a high…. FACT

Now Bob the Builder has come out and spoken we can now all see that it is he that will not invest in players. He must live in an ivory tower if he thinks that this squad of championship, cluless, inferior, bunch of goons will keep this club in the prem!
An extra two mill on the ground! Bless my boots! He is unique i’ll give him that. He is definately not a footballing man. The source of most of the investment comes from fans. We pay a hoofing amount to be entertained on saturdays and have some success as well as drawing and losing, thats how football goes.
But on my childs life, how can he say that where we are is not acceptable it needs sorting out! Damn right it needs sorting out!
It’s as plain as the pimple on yer arse that this league is about money invested in the squad! QPR and the bottom three have seen the light and are willing to buy players. We have a sunday morning manager, jumpers for goal posts and all that tosh! Morgan needs to meet the fans not the prim buffoons that turn up for a staged managed Q & A session and not answer direct questions! Grab a microphone on match day Mr Morgan and go around the teraces and ask us! Listen to the TV pundits, even they think we will not survive another season without sound team investment, get yer head out of your builders bucket. Look into Mcarthy’s eyes and i guarantee you will see VAC & ANT! The lights are on but no ones in!

22) There is no doubt in my mind that although we have been very average, you can safely add about 5 points to this years tally due to shocking officials. We have had it bad in the previous 2 years but nothing as bad as this. Also we have not dropped in the bottom 3 yet – although we could do very soon – and a points tally of 35/36 is probably enough for survival.
In answer to someone earlier, I think that you will find that Moxey held money back deliberately and Mad Mick was given a pittance to spend in the Summer. Must make a couple of signings and one about the £4/5m mark I suggest!

Here’s a fact! in the first half of the season Swansea have kept more clean sheets than Wolves have in the last three seasons. Now tell me that’s progress!!
Mr Morgan is increasing the value of the club off the field to build his assets and probably sell for a profit further down the line. Probably not without selling the likes of Berra, Jarvis, Hennessey, Fletcher etc first and replacing them with cheaper season long loans from bigger clubs or championship players who’s value along with everything else can be developed.. A great business plan yes, but one that if prolonged will anger fans and deter them from attending.
Surely the function of a football club is to compete on the field not just off it. If you read Tim Spiers or Adam Bates blog our stats on field are currently the worst in the prem by a country mile and it is only because of the dire start of other teams that we dangle a point above the drop zone.
We are predictable to play against and tactically inept at times. Unfortunately that comes down to Mick and TC. I like the bloke I do but ultimately he is being kept in the job because of his agreement with the transfer policies of messrs Morgan and Moxey, and the fact that he would have to have an exit payment of probably a few million. I fear for the wolves, we need a spark to ignite the season otherwise the stadium could become a white elephant. A change is required onfield either in management or significant backing of transfers. This will show intent to the fans and in turn grow confidence in Mr Morgan, sadly Jez I think you’ll be waiting a long time before there is any confidence in you. lol
Investment onfield can only benefit the club as it will generate more interest from fans and more sponsorship and corporate investment which two of the MM’s seem to love. So Mr Morgan time to put up or shut up! The announcement of a further 2 million investment in a bar and restaurant was a PR nightmare today and extremely badly timed. let’s some some investment in the playing staff please.

22 English Exile – And yet almsot all the moaners said we didnt improve last season even though we finnished with more points because we finnished lower than our first season. Now all of a sudden we’re higher than we were last season but on 1 less point and we’re still not improving? Please tell us which it is? If its based on points total as you’ve just said, we improved on our first season last season, but are struggling so far this season, but if its based on position as many have said, then we have improved on last season so far.
I like it how theres allot of negativety to any building work that the club now does, just because Morgan might be making a little profit from it. so what! If anyone saw an opportunity to make more money that would benefit everyone involved wouldnt you do it? Its even funnier when people are up in arms about most the £50 million going towards housing development, yet its that housing development that is actually funding the academy development, so not only is it benefitiing Morgan financially but our great club also. suppose none of that matters to the conspiracy theorists that beleive morgan only cares about the money and not what league we’re in, Oh wait a minute, wouldnt that mean he has more interest than most in us staying and improving in this league, as championship football would see our income drop by over half just from the difference in TV funds.

Well, Im sure Morgan will make a lot of money from this £50million investment for the training ground, not sure how much it will really improve our team though, more about houses me thinks. Nothing wrong with spending money on the ground development, but again i think it was too soon, to think about spending sucjh a large sum of money on what will be a premiership ground, when were clearly not yet a solid premiership team. Yes, yes, im sure others will say about us being in our third season in the top league, but will we be making it a fourth, when the ground (sorry stand) will be completed???? we are not improving, got less points than we have at this stage before. I think such a massibve investment in the ground should of taken place when we are more stable at this level, and filling the ground much more often than we have done. Lets just hope we can get better this second half of the season. The ‘better’ players we have just haven’t performed. Hunt, Doyle, Jarvis and Johnson come on!

Its all well and good saying the money should be invested in the team but to attract some of the better players, you need good facilities which is what is happening at molineux now. Lets not forget that Wolves were in a right mess before MM came along and we all talked about relegation as he shreaded the team to pieces but it worked and were in the prem so have some faith and support the lads.
Having said all that we could do with another centre back and a quick striker.

We have spent 44 million on players since reaching the EPL, believe we need two quality players to survive this year.
