Eggert Jonsson eyeing Tottenham repeat
Thursday 12th January 2012, 11:34AM GMT.
Wolves new-boy Eggert Jonsson today urged his team-mates to repeat the shut-out he has already achieved against Tottenham this season in their Saturday showdown.
The Iceland international played in the Europa League group stage clash for Hearts against Spurs at White Hart Lane which ended in a 0-0 draw, having missed the 5-0 home defeat in the first leg.
“I’ve already played against Tottenham this season but this is going to be a different game,” said Jonsson.
“We’re going to have a stronger team than what Hearts had, so hopefully the outcome will be different.”

Easy tiger. Quick reminder of the line-up in that “mean”, meaningless 0-0 draw:
23 Cudicini
19 Bassong
20 Dawson (Kaboul 46)
22 Corluka
06 Huddlestone
29 Livermore (Jake Nicholson 76)
31 Townsend
43 Fredericks (Kranjcar 61)
46 Thomas Carroll
09 Pavlyuchenko
37 Kane
Not shabby but only three of those players appeared in the Everton win last night: Friedel; Walker, Kaboul, Dawson, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon (Pienaar 77), Livermore, Modric, Bale; Van der Vaart; Adebayor.

Ok, how many of lastnights team were in the line up when we did the double on you the season before last?? All except Friedel, Livermore and Adebayor.
Its game on Saturday.
CHANGE OF SUBJECT FOOTBALL FACT:
No London club has ever won the European Cup.

Fair point about 2009-2010. You cling to those memories during your trips around the Championship next year.
Well done for mentioning European competitions.
As I recall Wolves fans were talking about Europe back in September when your massive three game unbeaten run got ended by, well, us. You were so poor Karl Henry was about the only player who tested Friedel that day and you all had a good boo at your own players as we laughed at you. You like doing that at Molineux, don’t you?
On the subject of European trophies, how many have been won by a Wolverhampton club?
If you don’t know the answer, ask Martin Chivers.

Just read Steve Morgans comments about how he likes stability at the club and will support MM through this difficult period. Plenty of banging on about the new Hospitality facilities and the increase in fan capacity in the new stand. I assume that stability means struggling in the Premiership every season and endorsing all the mistakes MM makes. Not a lot of comment about the playing side or the loss of possible revenue if we end up in the Championship. He should do his homework and compare gates when we have previously dropped down a division.

3) We were never talking about a European place. What is the point anyway when you get knocked out like Spurs? Spurs were not up to much at Molineux either. No chance of you winning the league and the best that you can hope for is a Champions League spot!

5 You’re so right. As Bale completed his hat trick away from 4-0 down at Inter Milan – imagine anyone your Wolves side doing that if you can – we were thinking “what’s the point of this? What did he have to do that for?”.
Bale demolished them at the Lane in our 3-1 win and we all thought “this is nice but we’re not going to win so we might as well go home”.
When Crouchy put us 1-0 up away at AC Milan we all tutted and said: “Barcelona will probably win this competition”.
The atmosphere should have been flat when we finished the job by keeping a clean sheet against Milan at home but we made the best of it as we had the trip to Molineux to look forward to.
Alright, we disappointed in the Champions League quarter finals with Real Madrid but you ask what’s the point?

Erm, just save your breath and forget the past, boys. It counts for nothing on the day because each game is different -and that’s the beauty of football.
My head says Spurs to win at a canter thanks to a highly impressive home record. My heart says we can certainly take a point if our boys can perform to their very best. Unfortunately, I also happen to believe you should never allow your heart to rule your head…
All the same, let’s see what happens. Remember, a patched-up Alb*on side were pretty unlucky to lose 1-0 at The Lane recently, so anything’s possible.

6) Spurs4league… you knock Sir Lupi for discussing historical games (our victory at your place in 09-10) then you decide to cling onto memories of Bale scoring a hat trick against Milan… slightly hyporcritical… don’t be over sensitive – if you are so confident that you are going to beat us (which you should) then don’t feel the need to try and knock one of our players for trying to install some confidence into our team..personally I wish you well for the season as it is a refreshing change to have a “smaller” club challenging for the title rather than “the big 4 or 5″

Spurs4ever,
Its nice to see you pipe up now Spurs are enjoying their best season for 40 years, yet still trophie less.
Just out of curiosity, which part of London are you from…..Kingswinford!!
Their is only one team in Wolverhampton to Londons 12-13.
If you’d of said the west Midlands, I would of said the Villa, but you probably second guessed that.
Wolves where the first team to introduce European football into England, and for the record we made the quarter finals of the European Cup as well but we were knocked out by Barcelona, so I do a point as did nearly 60,000 at Molineuxthat evening.
Chivers was very lucky that day, besides the UEFA cup is the poor mans European Cup!!

Sir Pupi Wolves where the first team to introduce European football into england . Stop living in the past. If you want history tottenham was the first club in england too take the double with league and european cup, so you was the first club in it congratulation. Your side will probably go down too championship. litle pupi dude you live too much in the past. tottenham have been typical midtable team, but now they have been the top 5 teams. If you disagree well look at the table last few season. I hope wolves stays up, and clubs like wba ,stoke goes down they play anti football
