David Edwards fit for Wolves return

Saturday 24th December 2011, 10:59AM GMT.

David Edwards today gave Wolves a pre-Christmas boost by declaring himself fit for the visit to Arsenal,

The Wales international has missed the last two games after coming off with a groin strain in the 4-1 defeat at Manchester United on December 10.

But the midfielder is preparing to return to full training today and expects to make the Emirates trip on Tuesday.

“I did ‘late-stage rehab’ yesterday and so I’m looking to train over the weekend and, if I can come through that, then I’ll be available for the Arsenal game,” said the 25-year-old. “It was a groin strain which I had trouble with the week before the United game.

“It was quite tight, but I trained on the Thursday and the Friday and felt good enough to play.

“Then I hit a pass and felt it go. Because of previous problems I’ve had with my groin, I knew I’d better go off.

“I know my body a lot better now so I knew it was best to go off and miss two games rather than six or seven. But it’s getting a lot better.”

Edwards now admits he should have missed the trip to Old Trafford – and could have been able to return for the Norwich game.

“I should perhaps have taken an extra few days and missed the United game because we had two massive home matches,” he said.

“But hopefully I’ve resolved the issue and I’ll be fit for the rest of the season.

“I could perhaps have pushed to play against Norwich but I went out on the Sunday and it was still nagging me a bit, so we decided to leave it to make sure I’m fully fit.”

There is mixed news on Wolves’ other casualties.

Jody Craddock (hamstring) is doubtful as he is still under treatment, while Kevin Foley has a chance of travelling after coming through 60 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Crewe on Wednesday.

* Left-back Scott Malone’s £150,000 move to League One side Bournemouth has now been completed.

first, merry xmas to the mighty Wolves and all the loyal support. this is one for the Henry doubters, i watched the chelski spurs game the other night and i concentrated on scott parker and what he does during a game for spurs because Henry plays a similar role for Wolves in my opinion, i think parker made about 43 passes and of those 39 were sideways or back passes only 2 or 3 were forward and he,s been the best buy of the season for spurs has,nt he. Keep up the good work Henry.

I sorry, I know when fit Edwards gives his all, just fed up that we try and hail mediocre players as our saviour, we need quality, not quantity, great bench warmer, and to help close out a game with mins left off the bench, but in the first 11, no, I will hold my hand up and say I thought Johnson would be the missing link at the back, but at min, on £40 grand a week and after nearly half the season gone, I think I may have been wrong, come on jonno, pull your finger out of your backside and show us why we all rated u so highly

It does not matter who we bring in Mcarthy will either play them oot of position or not play them at all, blind loyalty to certain players along with the muppets medling and inept tactics will take us down.
If we signed Messi Mcarthy would play him at left back. We are doomed with this fool in charge!! Mcarthy out!! Mcarthy out!!

I would leave a couple of important players out of the Arsenal game, which we will inevitably lose. Fletcher and Jarvis are absoultely crucial to our hopes of staying up, we will not score enough goals or win enough matches without them. Don’t risk them getting injured before the Bolton game, give Hammilll and Doyle their shirts. Thoughts?

    2) I agree with your players apart from one. Wayne Bridge is on £90k a week. Not a chance!
Edwards should play in a 4-5-1 at Arsenal. We cannot go 4-4-2 as we did against Man Utd.

Great news, i rate him as one of the beat midfielders in the prem, up there with the best, with him fit and our new signing from hearts firing on all cylinders i think we can be in the top half and challenging for europe! I think the club have really laid down the gaunlet already with the new signing so things are looking quite rosey on the pitch aswell as off it!!

Now where is the SARCASM button on this keyboard!!

I cannot resist to add one re the Egg jokes. If this feelow turns out to be a hard working player who puts a shift in he could be a runny egg…..oh dearTo come back to the headline that Edwards is back well it might make a slight improvement but with all due respect, whoever McCarthy brings in to the present team they are all much of a muchness. As I stated previously if Norwich can open us up like Norwich did then Arsenal will have a field day and maybe and I hope to God it does not happen that Arsenal may get the 8 back that Man Utd hit them with.
Then I wonder if it did happen would?……..

Edwards available – is this a Christmas cracker joke?! Just a Championship player to join all the rest of a very average Wolves squad that MM has built up over the last 5 years!! The joke is on all the Wolves fans – but who is laughing?! Never mind, a Merry Christmas to you all and hopefully a very happy and prosperous New Year.

Hope everyone’s had a good Christmas Day and Dave Edwards’ return bodes well.
I couldn’t resist a smile when I saw Wolves welcomed the extra day delay in visiting Arsenal – it seemed to me it was a bit like a turkey being grateful if it heard Christmas was being delayed for a day!
Whatever, the best of luck to the wearers of the
old gold and black and let’s hope things do improve in the very near future, but I’ve not been tempted by the 10/1 odds the local bookie is offering for a Wolves win (same odds as when Wolves visited the Old Toilet).

Sorry to sound pessimistic but does this mean, that he has got to earn the right to be back in the team or does Mick,

Throw him straight in and drop some one else.

    Probably the latter.

Hope we dont get beat by a cricket score our goals against is already looking really bad.

Lets be serious, Wolves are in bad shape unless they bring in quality players, right now they probably only better than Blackburn, just watch Bolton & Siunderland climb up the table, it will break my heart if Wolves go down, being realistic, its not looking good, how many more points can the present team get, in my opinion…not many.
