Wolves’ Scott Malone set to seal £150,000 move to Bournemouth

Wolves reserve left-back Scott Malone was today set to seal a £150,000 move to Bournemouth.

Sources reckon the fee has been agreed and that the 20-year-old has shaken hands on a three-and-a-half year deal with the Cherries, where he has spent all this season on loan.

The transfer should go through when the transfer window opens on January 1.

Rowley Regis-born Malone has played 21 games for the League One side in all competitions this season, after 26 for Burton Albion last term and 17 for Southend in 2009-10.

But Malone has never played a first-team game for Wolves, having seen his way to the first team at Molineux blocked at various times by Stephen Ward, George Elokobi, Matt Hill and George Friend.

England youth international Jamie Reckord is also now seen as a possible contender.

Malone was one of a record seven teenagers from the club’s academy who signed professional forms in March 2009. But the youngster is the latest Wolves’ homegrown player to leave.

Ashley Hemmings, David Davis, Danny Batth and Sam Winnall remain at Molineux, while Kyle Bennett and Johnny Dunleavy have been released.

Hemmings, Davis and Batth have appeared at senior level. Bennett is at Doncaster while Dunleavy has beens trying his luck in the United States.

Hemmings (Plymouth), Davis (Inverness Caledonian Thistle), and Batth (Sheffield Wednesday) are out on loan, while Winnall has returned from Burton Albion after a time with League Two Hereford.

Batth’s spell at Hillsborough has been extended to the end of the season, while Hemmings is set to prolong his stay at Argyle.
