Matt Jarvis today insisted Wolves’ experience in the art of survival will keep them up this season.
The winger admitted that Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Stoke, which left Wolves just a point and a place above the drop zone, cranked up the pressure on Mick McCarthy’s side to beat Norwich tonight.
Following this evening’s clash, Wolves hit the road for three matches in four, at Arsenal, Bolton and Tottenham, with Chelsea at home before the trip to Spurs.
But Jarvis believes the spirit Wolves have shown in adversity over the last two seasons will again come to the fore.
He said: “We’re confident and people have hopefully seen from the last two years that we’re together as a side.
“Whenever it gets tough we all stick together and get good results. We don’t want to be in that situation but, when we are, we really dig deep and get ourselves out of it.
“Hopefully, we can use the experience we’ve had from the last two years to our advantage and get ourselves out of it again.”
Norwich have no such worries, sitting ninth in the Premier League, but Jarvis insists all that counts is Wolves achieving the right result.
He said: “All the promoted teams are doing extremely well and we have seen it before – everyone seems to get off to a flying start.
“It’s just a question of whether we can get the right result against them. Norwich have scored quite a few and conceded some too but we need to win and, hopefully, we will work hard and earn the three points.”
Wolves have played on the front foot for three games, beating Sunderland and losing to Manchester United and Stoke, and Jarvis feels the positive way is the right way.
He said: “Our approach of getting in people’s faces was working on Saturday but we conceded two sloppy goals and that cost us.
“We played well – it was just annoying and frustrating not to get the right result.”
