Karl Henry wants home advantage to count for Wolves at Molineux

Karl Henry has urged Wolves to make home advantage count against in-form Stoke.

Henry, who was recalled for last week’s 4-1 defeat at Manchester United after a one-match ban, believes tomorrow’s clash and Tuesday’s visit of Norwich are “six-pointers.”

After those two games, Wolves hit the road with trips to Arsenal and Bolton on Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve respectively and Henry insists they must make the most of the two home matches.

The 29-year-old midfielder, who has won two and drawn four of the nine games he’s played for Wolves against Stoke, wants to make Molineux “a fortress.”

He said: “We’re going into the busy Christmas period and it’s a tough run but definitely games which we think we can get some points from.

“We’ve got two six-pointers coming up at home to Stoke and Norwich which are huge games for us. We know the fans will be right behind us.

“Last Saturday at Manchester United, when we weren’t at our best, they were great and kept behind us, singing for the whole 90 minutes.

“The support has been fantastic and it’s just worth making that point. Even though we were soundly beaten we could hear our fans singing right to the bitter end.

“We’ll need that again in the coming games. Molineux is a place where we need to get results. Every home team has an advantage playing in front of their own fans and we should be getting results there.

“We need to make it count tomorrow and try to make Molineux a fortress.”

Stoke are bidding for their fourth successive Premier League win after overcoming Spurs at the Britannia Stadium last Sunday, Everton away and Blackburn at home.

Henry is expecting his former club to be at full strength after resting all 11 players from the 2-1 win over Tottenham for their final Europa League group clash against Besiktas in midweek, which they lost 3-1.

He said: “Stoke are a good side who are to be respected. They have beaten some good teams, especially at home, and made a lot of changes for Wednesday’s Europa League game so will be coming into this one fresh.

“I’m sure it will be an exciting game and one which we’ll be looking to take all three points.”
