David Edwards set for D-Day to make Wolves’ game with Stoke
Wednesday 14th December 2011, 2:00PM GMT.
David Edwards is set for D-Day over his chances of figuring for Wolves in Saturday’s Staffordshire derby against Stoke.
The Wales international hasn’t trained since coming off with a sore groin after 32 minutes of Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at Manchester United.
Manager Mick McCarthy believes Edwards’ chances of making the Stoke game will become apparent in the next 24 hours.
The Wolves boss said: “He hasn’t trained yet. Hopefully, he will train tomorrow but we’ll see.
“His groin tightened up but, hopefully, he will be OK. Sometimes you just tighten up and you’ve got to come off.
“You’re actually better coming off than carrying on playing and ending up with a strain.”
Matt Jarvis (thigh) is as a slight concern after the Old Trafford setback, but is expected to train tomorrow.
Steven Fletcher (calf) is fine after coming through yesterday’s session but Jody Craddock (hamstring) is out.
McCarthy said: “It’s the same with Jarvis, who picked up a sore thigh in the United game.
“He’ll not train until tomorrow. Fletcher is alright – he trained yesterday. Stephen Hunt has trained full of cold, but he’s alright.
“Jody’s still injured. I don’t think he’s got a chance (for Saturday).”
Kevin Foley is back in training after ankle surgery but won’t be considered until playing some practice games, with no reserve action until the new year.
McCarthy said: “Kev trained with us yesterday but he’s nowhere near ready.
“He’ll have to play a couple of reserve games before he’s ready to play – he’s been out a long time.”
