Chelsea 3 Wolves 0

Sorry Wolves crashed to their eighth defeat in 10 games as they proved little more than fodder for Chelsea.

First-half goals from John Terry, Daniel Sturridge and Juan Mata had the game wrapped up by half-time for Andre Villas-Boas’ side.

Wolves were simply no match for their hosts, who went into the game with four defeats in seven and back-to-back home losses.

But Chelsea never looked like surrendering this game as they quickly established control and didn’t have to get out of second gear to inflict a fifth straight away defeat on Wolves.

The result, though not unexpected, was every bit as emphatic as it sounded and was as one-sided as the 4-0 thumping Chelsea dealt Wolves two years ago.

It cranks up the pressure on Wolves and boss Mick McCarthy for next Sunday’s home clash against the manager’s former club Sunderland.

They will have to do it without midfielder Karl Henry, whose fifth booking of the season on his 29th birthday means he is suspended.

A rare bright spot for Wolves was the debut of 17-year-old Anthony Forde as a 75th minute substitute for Ronald Zubar.

McCarthy made four changes from the side that lost 2-1 at Everton last week.

In came Zubar, George Elokobi, Matt Jarvis and Steven Fletcher as Richard Stearman and suspended duo Jamie O’Hara and Stephen Hunt made way.

Kevin Doyle joined the latter two in losing his record as a Premier League ever present in 2011-12 after being ruled out with a knee injury picked up in training on Thursday.

McCarthy’s selection meant there were changes to all four flank positions, with Stephen Ward pushed on from left-back to wide midfield to accommodate Elokobi.

It looked a solid enough line-up, but the players themselves down hugely with some awful defending for the first goal.

Goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey made a superb, full-length save to deny Raul Meireles from 20 yards and, from Juan Mata’s resulting corner, Terry got away from Roger Johnson to guide a tame header that somehow squeezed into the bottom corner of the net.

Ward had Wolves’ only effort of the first-half with a firm, rising header from Jarvis’ centre that flew over.

But Chelsea were always in control and doubled their lead when Sturridge, who broke Wolves’ hearts in the 94th minute at Bolton in February, tapped home after Mata beat Zubar far too easily to cross from the left.

Sturridge was next to threaten. Showing all the hallmarks of a player oozing confidence, he unleashed a rasping, angled shot from 25 yards that was fumbled over by Hennessey just before the half hour mark.

With seemingly nothing to lose, McCarthy sent on Sylvan Ebanks-Blake after just 35 minutes for Nenad Milijas and reverted to a 4-4-2 formation in an effort to ask more questions of Chelsea.

But instead it was the Blues who were next to threaten, as they made it 3-0.

This time it was the unmarked Mata who was allowed time and space to steer home left footed after Johnson got caught napping on the halfway line to lose a challenge to Didier Drogba.

Drogba retrieved the rebound off Christophe Berra from his own shot and passed back to Ashley Cole for the cross.

The second-half continued in much the same vein as the first – with Chelsea well on top.

A full-blooded volley from Ramires brought a fine diving catch from Hennessey, before an angled drive from Drogba spun wide as the space opened up in front of him.

In between, the lively Ward, now playing right midfield, poked just wide with Petr Cech to beat after Fletcher superbly split Chelsea’s defence.

Yhere was action at both ends and Hennessey produced successive point-blank blocks from Sturridge then Mata before Ward, who again ended the game at right-back, saw a goalbound shot go the same way against Cech’s legs from Jarvis’ cross.

But it was too little, too late for Wolves in a game where they probably haven’t been as outclassed all season.

Poor selection, poor tactics, poor performance, poor management, poor captaincy. Says it all really.

I’ve had enough of MM. His continual selection of favourites and plain old dumb loyalty means same in,same out. He’s always managed to get the team to put in a shift even when he has selected the wrong team and tactics. Now, we’re going through the motions.

Why does he continue with Berra and Johnson? I’d rather see Craddock. Ward wide left? someone tell me. Clueless.

Ok first of all i didnt expect much from this game as it is Chelsea away. But compare this performance with the one of last season at stamford bridge. There i thought we could hold our heads up high and at least say we gave it a go. Today however we just look devoid of any attacking threat at all and i beginning to question whether or not we knew how to get out of our own half!!

Once again today mick has proved that he also has no idea what his best squad is!! Whats happened to Doyle all of a sudden was he injured today? It infurates me that we just seem to be on repeat every week of late. Question is when will pressure be applied to mick and his mad methods? Surely morgan and moxey for that matter must not be content with the manner of which we are going about games. I have never been a follower of McCarthy admittedly but i have never booed him yet i do think that it is time for a change. Ive held back on saying this for a while to just give him a chance but after being called a numpty, mindless idiot and then been subject to this drivel. Something has got to give! We need change and we need it now! Or at least something fresh to kickstart us!

It’s not the loss that hurts so much but the manner in which we lost. The performance was indicative of the why Wolves are being managed. Too blame the players entirely is wrong. The majority of this squad was assembled by McCarthy. The planning is his, the training is ultimately his responsibility! When we have managed to scrape a win the happy clappers are all out praising McCarthy but where are they when we Wolves put in a performance like today? Living in Chelsea I got a lay in rather than the usual early start and with hindsight I should have stayed in bed. We were woeful in the first half and played ok in the second when it was all over. I wouldn’t honestly expect to win at Chelsea but this is our third season in the prem and we should at least be well organised and pose them a few problems. MM was defender so how come the defense was and is so poor. The report above says it all with respect to the game.
Where to for our team? I think we need to look outside of the UK as the fact is, the standard of football coaching here is far below other countries. Dare I say it but Germany is the obvious place to look and a few more foreign players wouldn’t go amiss.

Last season, despite our regular beatings, at least opposing or neutral fans were telling us we were too good to go down based on the football we were playing. This isn’t happening this season – in fact, it’s the opposite. This is an embarrassment and quite frankly, I’m getting bored of watching them.

It annoys me to feel like that but my passion is slowly but surely being sucked out of me by football I don’t enjoy watching, tactics and team selection that I simply don’t understand despite having watched live football for over 40 years and I’m starting to wonder if those Saturday afternoon trips to the DIY store that I’ve avoided all my married life might actually be the way forward.

Nice to the youngster come on for the last 10 minutes…dont expect another game tho son..(see Doherty)

Well it doesn’t really ‘Mata’ does it, as we wasn’t expected to get anything from this game. But once again our best player and so far our player of the season, imo was ‘young’ Wayne Hennessey, this lad gets better and better, and as been the difference in keeping the scores down to single figuresin most matches, and keeping us in so many games this season. Yet again he’s made ‘three/four’ top class saves to give us a fighting chance yet again today. I was disappointed that MM moved Ward (who is not my fav-player but as does better this season)from LB to midfield, meaning he changed both full backs. yes Zubar was forced, but i think Elokobi hasn’t played enough games to play against quick top players like Chelsea have? Why didnt he just make one change in defence, and play Edwards, for(O’Hara)Henry,Milijas as the three in midfield, and play Hammill / Jarvis for( Hunt ) on the wings? Mick seems to tinker to much ,when he only needed to make the odd change, and leave Ward who ive said as played better at LB, but know he moves him from LB to LM, then RM, then finally RB? What was that all about, then we’ve got him and Johnson having a row during the match. I still think again imo that Karl Henry should have been left as Captain, he had done nothing wrong to take it off him. And Johnson as done nothing yet to show he’s worth the armband. It sounded like Fletcher did ok holding the ball up ,bringing players into the game, yet MM says he cant do it, but he did it today, and agaisnt a top team like Chelsea? Has i said yesterday the Sunderland game is another one of the 1 of 10 games we must win, that McCarthy says we need to stay in the BPL. I said after the Wigan game, it was a great result for us, but we cant then go on another run of only one win out of about ‘seven/eight’ matches,as that is relegation football. And if we do then McCarthy must go, ‘no ifs or buts’ or it will be to late for a new manager to turn it around. But i will say McCarthy was never given enough funds in the summer,SM/JM thought buying just Johnson/O’Hara ,would do us,and ‘save all the extra cash’ and if we was in the middle half of the table in January, SM/JM could save it,and MM came out and said im happy with my squad? Ive never heard a manager in 54yrs years of watching football say that? Then JM says wev’e got money to spend in January, in that case it should have been spent in the summer, when decent players would have come, but they wont come when were down the bottom sruggling to stay in the BPL, as most BPL players dont like scrapping ? Living in Tampa Florida I have to watch the team on the Telly. The viewing has been more and more difficult to take as our performances have been decidedly turgid for way too long. Today, I thought we would have a real go against a Chelsea that has been disappointing of late. Instead, we started dismally and when the second goal went in I turned it off. That is a first for me but the lack of quality of our displays is beyond belief.

Hennessey made a top top save and was rewarded for his efforts by his defense giving Terry a free header from the resultant corner kick. Our keeper is becoming consistently our man of the match and I would not blame him if he turned in a transfer request. Were we being kidded on when Johnson was signed for several MILLION pounds? He has been a complete waste of space and certainly should not be the Captain.

MM needs to resign – personally( and I hate to say this) I think we are going down this time and our only hope is to shake up the organization before we get to the Christmas log jam of games.

I think we are seeing the beginning of the end for McCarthy,he looked a dejected person today.

We swop one up front for another, which will never work, we play Milijas away which dosen’t seem to work, yes he was caught in possession, but again was played into trouble by Henry, I cannot see what on earth McCarthy sees in him, granted he played few forward ball in the second half, but we lost the game in the first half, he again pushed a player to the floor got booked and complained to the ref.

We mess around again with the team then when two down we change it and play two attackers who we cannot get the ball to, Edwards was again totally ineffective.

The LB position is changed again, and as |I said before Zubar is no RB.

It would have been more except for Hennessy, we did get 3 shots on goal this week, and looks like he has told Hennesy to throw the ball to our own players.

The most disturbing of everything is no desire, no effort, and cannot set the defence up still after 3 seasons in the PL.

How can anyone be criticising McCarthy – the performance was far better than last week. Look at the stats – 2 Shots on target (yes 2!!), 41% posession. At this rate top 4 spot here we come. I really do hope funds are made available in Jan like Moxey has said… I don’t like him and I blame him and Morgan for the state of the team.

I think Mick has been proven right though now, why he was refusing to play Milijas and Guedioura… It’s time for Milijas to move on now and Guedioura has shown he is only good as an impact sub. Another week and another reason to not like Johnson, what does he bring to the team? And how can be CAPTAIN????…. O’Hara for captain 100%!!!! I think we missed O’Hara today; him Ward and Hennessey are the only players showing top qulity and passion.

Beat Sunderland and Mad Mick buys some extra time by papering over the cracks. We can then loose the next 5 or 6 and remain in the relegation scrap and have another season of zero progres under this tactically inept idiot.

After 24 years as a season ticket holder I don’t think I have ever been as disillusioned with what’s going on.

I actually hope we loose against Sunderland and continue to loose until this idiot is sacked. Otherwise we will be in for more of the same, failing to compete, winning teh odd gaem and then staying up by the skin of our teath or going down and then being stuck with him again as he’s the cheap option for the club.

An extremely excellent Henessey saved Wolves from many more blushes than the final score may suggest. And this is not a one off. Otherwise we had more of the same against a team admittedly far richer than wolves but can also be beaten as shown in successive showings lately. The team has again shown the consistent lake of fight and endeavour which, at least, one expects from a premiership team. The management has now to do their homework diligently as the situation is nothing less than desperate. Time is of the essence to solve the many problems which surround the place. And for goodness let no one describe this my sincere contribution as gloom and doom. I want to see Wolves retain their premiership status, that is all. Maybe some day we shall see a trophy as a consequence of this.

No 42 – I think its an absolute fact that Bully would do a far better job of it than Doyle even now. There were times when Bully was up front on his own and he did a damn good job of it – and he scored goals doing it. Doyle doesn’t and never will! Can you seriously see this guy getting double figures in a season – and its nothing to do with the way Mick plays him. He’s the same for the RoI team. Spends most of his time out on the wing. I know he does some good work out there but he is supposed to be a striker – I used to think that meant ‘goal-scorer’. I’ve said it before, what’s the point of having wingers to put the ball in the box when our ‘star’ forward is out on the other wing? The reason for this rant is that, despite Fletcher’s performance today, which I thought was good, despite not scoring, whats the betting that he will be dropped for the next game in favour of Doyle. If he hadn’t have injured himself on Thursday he would have been in and Fletcher out anyway. Doyle should play in O’hara’s position or as a winger seeing as how he spends most of his time there. That way we could play Doyle and two forwards (will never happen I know because it makes sense). Facts are facts, Mick will NEVER rise to anything higher than a bottom five Premier manager and Doyle will NEVER be a top-class striker scoring loads of goals. He doesn’t even gell with other forwards when we have tried to play two up front. As long as we have got Mick leading us off the pitch and Doyle leading the attack on it, we are only going in one direction.

This farce has got to stop now. Last season we were capable of taking points from the top four teams by some quirk of both luck and endeavour. This is clearly no longer the case. Despite our apparent “improvement” after three years in the premiership and the investment of around 10 million pounds in two players, I as a fan see no improvement at all. Instead I see a serious decline in the standard of play, creative input and of course, positive results. I am sure I am not alone in this. As a fan who has an opinion which differs to that of the manager and the clubs new captain I am a “Numpty” to the man who controls the the clubs financial purse strings, I am “Fickle”. To other fans who are as delighted with our performances as our manager appears to be I range from Moron to WBA fan. I’m seriously wondering why I support this club any longer. Am I alone in this? With the missing ‘suspended’ players, Doyle injured and a very very young goalkeeper who in my opinion is a lower league player (as he has no control or respect of the back four) should have kept the American, unseasoned SEB the odd were very much against us. If we go down this year I can imagine Steve Morgan taking a long hard look at the team and ground situation during his tenure.

His team will be no better than the one he inherited; it will be back where it started with him – in the Championship; circa £50m will have been wasted on players; he will have the same manager who can at best promise another five years of the same – up, three years of ungodly scrambling, down; the fan base will have been badly eroded; a potentially glorious chapter in Wolves’ history will have been ripped to pieces; but he will have one new stand and better training facilities.

Stoke playing 4-2-4 can keep clean sheets at this level because they defend properly most weeks and the centre backs are as good as anyones’. Not so Wolves, it has to be 4-5-1 to be competitive or get continually overrun.
After such early promise Johnson is looking a dreadful signing, and the decision to make him club captain looks ill-conceived.
Unless a couple of rabbits are pulled out of the hat in January, relegation beckons.
    So disapppointing.

    A faithful supporter

Admittedly, the magic from merlin the magician that brought us from nothing in the championship, to a 3rd season in the premier league hasn’t really shined through this season thus far, but ehh, last time I heard, a supporter is someone who supports their team through thick and thin, instead of moaning about management, unfurling banners, and telling the management who have worked in football for many, many years that they don’t know what they’re doing. I admit that the football has been far from the best that we can do, but I’m not gonna moan. I’m gonna back the wolves, as I’ve been doing for many years.

No matter what happens, whether MM goes, wether the club gets sold, even if we drop down to league two or something, as a supporter, I’m going to support my team.

Do you think that all of the comments we have written on this website are read by Morgan and Moxey?…..I think not.
Whilst I believe that it makes us feel better unloading on here, I do think it will serve us better to make our feelings known to the Board at the Sunderland game with a 5 minute chant of ‘McCarthy out’at a particular point in the match. Not at the end of the game or at half time as the directors will all be the Board’s suit having their drinkypoos but during the game.
If we don’t do this then, as we have all seen “nothing happens”.

The manager has to go. This slow drip drip of confidence within the team is obvious to see. Arguments between the captain and the manager on the pitch shows that the cracks are starting to show.
It has taken an outsider (Johnson) who has not come through the Championship route or on the ferry from Ireland, to show his dipleasure at what is happening within the team.

So lets give it a shout on Saturday lads. It must have an influence.

Poor Wolves, not a great performance, again effort could not be faulted but as we cannot compete with players we have to compete with organisation- we did not do that.

I am wary of the Mick, Moxey and Morgan out crowd because i think the club is well organised, financially sound and building for the future. It takes time. As a caveat, however, although the club infrastructure is excellent with the training ground and stadium plans and excellent medical facilities and back room staff, the team has started to suffer.

The most appalling display i saw was against Swansea, it was embarrassing, we were so lucky. I think a cool hard look is needed. I don’t want to go the same ways as Leeds, Bradford, Hull, Charlton, the Sheffield teams et al, ( remember where we were ten years ago) but the team now needs to progress as well as the rest of the infrastucture as we get larger and ambition grows. We got away with a thumping. It could easily have been a 6-0 or more. Once we lost the 1st goal that is it.I expect Milias to have played his last game for WW. He made a terrible, inept error to give away the ball for the passage of play that lead to corner from which Terry got the crucial 1st. Why have we not got the best out of Milias? The best thing about this game from a Wolves persective is the continuing good form of Wayne Hennessey. Clearly our man of the match.
It would not surprise me if one of the top 6 clubs make a move for him sometime in 2012.

As for Milijas, I just hope we can off-load him in January. Apart from losing the ball leading up to the first goal via a corner, he did virtually nothing (again)for the remaining time on the pitch. McCarthy quite rightly substituted him before half-time.

It would have been preferrable to have kept Ward at left back and not played Elokobi. Ward has been the one good consistant player in the defence this season.

Not sure what McCarthy is going to do at Monday’s training session to put matters right, but maybe a double dose of Major Frank Buckleys monkey gland treatment might help.

Is there seriously going to be a demonstration before the Sunderland game? This manager cannot be far away now from being finished. The sooner we get someone else in the sooner we will have a chance of surviving the season. Confidence is gone. No new players would come to the club in January anyway. Let’s not blame the players. If they are not up to it is not their fault. If we paid over the odds for them it’s not their fault. If they wander around the pitch not knowing what position they should be playing in it’s not their fault. If they are told that they played really well and just lost it’s not their fault. If they lack desire it is their fault but if they lack motivation it is not really their fault. Last season at times we played some really good football and lost at the same time we managed by sheer will to scrape results. I just can’t see any of that this season. So someone has to be at fault.

We limited Chelsea to only three goals all game. The manager will declare himself delighted and advise the lads that a softly softly approach to the match against Sunderland would be the best approach. “Now lads, don’t forget, we’re the home team so it’ll be 4 5 1 with Doyler back up front after a good rest and we’ll try to hit ‘em on the break. Now Roger try and stay on your feet lad and put a shift in, I can’t ask more than that.”

So, as a numpty I will say my piece.

Mick has to go. I cannot see a way out of this mess: the team are falling apart. Johnson is arguing with his boss, the boss is publically attacking Milijas. I am sorry you Mickites but Milijas should be the fulcrum of our team and it and he are capable of so much more but Mick in his wit and wisdom has demolished the confidence the team has.

if a local council wants tio discipline someone they usually use the phrase that the worker has breached the trust and confidence between the employee and them.

Mick has breached the trust and confidencve we all had in him…or perhsp we are to blame?
Perhaps the fans have betrayed Mick as we are all numpties?

Mick, if he has any ounce of integrity or intelligence should see, whether there is a better guy out there, that he can progress no further. The Wigan result was a false dawn. How can any happy clapper say that 4 points out of 30 is good enough?

Mick’s record speaks for itself: he got us here and kept us here but that was despite his efforts and not becuse of them.

Why buy Milijas, Fletcher and a heap of others if he doesn’t want them? Who controls our transfer policy?

What the hell is happening at the club I have supported since 1974?

This is sad, so sad. We don’t mind losing and even being drubbed as long as there is clealry a plan and the players look like they are making an effort. Yesterday they looked like wasters and Milijas should not be made the scapegoat. he may have given the ball away but it is Mick who messed the club up.

Mick, please do the decent thing and Please go now for all our sakes!

I still believe Milijas has something to offer Wolves, in my opinion his confidence has been destroyed like alot of the other players by MM. The reason is that he has no confidence in their abilities, but he’ll continue to play players that are out of form and getting beat week after week.

I only saw the highlights but its the same pattern of many other games we have lost this season.
Very poor defending resulting in 3 give away goals.
Markers ball watching and losing their men in the box
poor possession- Giving the ball away in midfield far too easy.

Yes we got beat by Chelsea who were expected to win but this was a very good time to play them and really it was game over after 8 minutes.
Zubar should have been on the bench- how he can be expected after 6 months out to come back against chelsea I’ll never know.

Mick hasnt learnt anything from starting with a hopelesslly unprepared Kightly earlier in the season having been out for 18 months.

I think the 3Ms need a drastic rethink come january transfer. No inexperienced loaneees. Cash must befound to get in a decent striker, defensive midfielder and centre half.

I think Craddock needs to come into the team possibly for Johnson who looked all over the place, and doesnt play or lead like a captain in my view.

Well we had one thing in common with Chelsea, they had Juan Mata, and we had his brother,
    It doesn’t Mata.

I think regardless of whet they say the palayers have lost all belief. A lot of the team looked as though they did not want to be there today. There is no plan, no identifiable style of play. We have had what we asked for. We’ve seen Zubar start. We’ve seen Adlene start. We have seen Milijas start. We’ve had the lazy Ebanks-Blake(What a waste of substitution that was), come on as substitute. None of them have had any impact. Im surprised Milijas even went and sat of the bench, he will probably be gone in January. He was playing so deep, presumably under instructions, that the only type of pass that was an option was a long punt upfield.

You could start David Silva, Suarez, Chichurito and Van Persie and they would all look like bumbling idiots under this manager. Does he tell our players not to cross the half way line?

I find it interesting that one of the few players doing OK is Wayne Hennessey, presumably because Mick cannot ask him to do anything except play in goal.

As I’ve said before the sign of a good manager is that decent players improve under a good manager. Someone point to one who has improved under McCarthy. Something had better be done quickly, we look like the worst team in the premiership at present, and we probably are. In a few months we might not have that title as we won’t be in the Premiership!

A few points on the above comments

Stearman’s Sideys – trying to blame Karl Henry for Milijas losing the ball has to be a joke – it was not a short pass, he rolled his foot over the ball to move it away from his body (taking about as long as this site takes to read)

So far suggestions for a replacement manager –

Benitez – loves to defend and play on the counter, will need a lot of new players- very poor premiership managerial record considering

O’Neill – absolutely no chance he will come to any club not offering him a fortune to spend

Holloway – would be entertaining, how long before people notice he can’t organise a defence and managed a relegated team last year

    Hughes – see O’Neill

English Exile – it’s the only faith I have, the rest of my like is more logical, I did quite like Sammy Chapman (definitely more than Tommy Doc). In more recent times I did want McGhee and Hoddle to go and probably Turner (albeit with a heavy heart). I think we sacked Taylor and Dave Jones too soon. I predict that if things carry on as they are Mick will go in mid-December and Jez will appoint in early Jan, giving the new manager (Gordon Strachan) no time to spend any money.

I’m not sure where the quick open attacking play of Wolves in the championship has disappeared to. I know the prem is a different level but the swans and Norwich both manage to play far superior football with arguably less able players. Therefore you must conclude that the manager is at fault. I hate to target certain players but Henry either needs to improve or be dropped. He’s simply too negative and another creative playmaker in the centre of the park is important.

At the back big George has to go along with Berra. We need at least one defender who is comfortable on the ball and can actually start attacks rather than just hoofing it like a ten year old.

Up front sell SEB for couple of mill take a gamble on Maynard. We missed out on long so let’s not miss another gem. 9 times out of ten it has It has to be fletcher and Doyle up front !!!!

MM is doing his best only a fool would think otherwise, for this reason i will not stoop to personal attacks, how ever his best is clearly falling far short.
Wolves players have untill this season given 110% effort, i just dont see that anymore, I believe they have had enough as well as the fans of-
    1) Negative tactics,
i mean come on does anyone really think that playing a solely defensive selection and formation against any top 6 team will get a result. Inviting a skillfull squad of players to attack at their will without fear of having to defend is a clear recipe for disaster…shocking
    2) The squad selection was awfull, as all wolves fans that go to the games will agree our strength wide wingers peppering the box with crosses, not happened much this season..why?? negative play..were has hammil gone?, had been playing really well just before being dropped, that is just one point in selection, ward..what on earth? how many positions does he excell at in MM’s odd mind, you simply can not play a player in so many positions during one match..shocking.
The basic errors in defending exposed to the full by inviting teams to attack, coaching is shocking.
    3) Untill Chelzky the erm.. tactical substitutions arriving in the 80+ mins of a game that MM claims to be master strokes (accepted he only claimed that once, it only worked once also), then why change the team in 80+ mins why not 40 mins or whatever…Shocking…
    4) Other managers of other clubs that are playing badly or produce poor displays on the pitch and come under fire from the fans appologise to the fans publicly and strive to deliver better, MM lables his critics (paying wolves fans) numpties and dismisses them as not real supporters(hes been here 5 years the fans 40 years plus) shocking…
    5) Mick as with your role at sunderland because you have no dignity and wont leave when you are so badly out of your depth, this is getting ugly, you are dragging Wolves as you did sunderland through the dirt.. Shocking.

Well , the report was correct in that it was like the 4-0 of 2 years ago – we did not compete . I thought Hennessey and Henry came out of it alright but the defending was amateurish . It’s a corner – who would be the first person you’d think of marking – correct ….John Terry . SO WHAT HAPPENED ???? Centre backs marking each other ?? George had a nightmare . Ron played well until that run down the line…..he’ll improve with matches .Milijas , normally a favourite of mine , didn’t seem with it but to take him off for E-B was stupid as nowhere else was there a ( potentially )creative midfielder which E-B needs.Fletcher was given nothing to chase as he had two men on him all the time . Frankly , abysmal tactics . One bright note , at last MM “allowed” a youngster to be blooded . Forde did not look out of place and at 17 , should go far in the game – hopefully with Wolves . At least the other results went for us .
    Up the Wolves !

Okay i can accept losing to teams like Chelsea who have far more quality than we have.
What i thought would happen is that we would slowly improve the more we stay in the Premiership. We seem to have gone backwards this season.
During my years of supporting Wolves i have seen many highs and lows, more lows to be honest but this trying to hang on and stifle the game all the while away from home is wearing a bit thin.
We don’t have the quality to keep teams out for 90+ mins with our defense as the lack of pace and positional sense gets exposed time and time again.
Top players in this country are out of our reach with wages and transfer fees so our scouting system could do with looking at to find and research the best of the rest.
Mick is wary of players outside the UK and Ireland and it’s a well known fact that he dislikes players that can sometimes be difficult to handle.
I like MM as a person as i think he is a honest and hardworking guy who gives his all for Wolves but we are so predictable at times it is becoming laughable.
Sad to hear of Gary Speed taking his life.

I am sick to death of all the negative comments about our team!!! Sure Mick may or may not have lost the dressing room but the only way to change that is to get behind the lads BE THE 12th man and make other teams aware that we are there (something that hasn’t happened recently). What good has it done to previous clubs getting rid of their managers half way through a season. What is the actual percentage of those who have managed to keep clubs up because I can’t think of many that have apart from woy in smethwick. I have asked myslef the question what would happen if we changed manager and my answer was still got relegated as he would have to work a miracle and with this threadbare squad something that I do not think is possible. I also thought to mysekf what managers are available O’nelly and Hughes (no they’re unreliable and chuck us in at the deep end by leaving at the start/end of a season). I for one would not like Mick to be sacked as he does have the good of the club at heart no other manager would take a roasting for his teams shortcomings. At the end of the day our next three home games are winnable which means we would be half way to the magic 40. I cannot see Swansea and Norwich carrying on like they are look at Bpool last season they were in the top ten also at this point. Truth of the matter is teams get found out after Christmas and we seem to do better. I knew from the beginning Johnson was not as goos as we had already watching him for birmingham ridgewell and carr were the best defenders there constantly clearing the ball away and sticking their feet in. Look at how bad Dann is doing at BBurn who also was meant to be one of the best defenders available in the market. For me another trip to White Hart Lane for a loan would be nice either Dos Santos (Attacking flair really good player) or Bassong (Good CB stacks above what we currently have) not going to the bloody Championship for players in bargain basement (Mccormack and Collins). I want to see some actual investment in the team Sir Jack Hayward was promised 30m of Morgans own money into the team but atm I only see money from the TV and promotion and staying up. HIGHER THE BLOODY WAGE BILL to. I for one am going to be right behind the team on Sunday. My team would be a 4-5-1

    Hennessey

Zubes Craddock Berra (Better this season) Ward

    Henry Edwards

    Doyle O’hara Jarvo

    Fletcher

Personally for me doyle is our best creator and can actually cross the ball for me Vokes also has to be recalled for some aerial presence and Batth has gotta get in the team some point next season (hes apparently doing really well at Sheff Wed and from the same town). Support to Fletch is a must as he can also create something. Come on lads lets do these lot from Tyneside and get in their faces from the off.

This team has given up because of the aweful coaching by Sick McCarthy. An absolute disgrace to the Wolves name.

Why can’t he just quit and leave us to try someone else. I would respect him more if he did.

To say Mick has disgraced Wolves and been the worst manager is disgusting from “Wolves Fans”…. Since I have been supporting Wolves I have never been witness to a more succefull Wolves team. These are good times as far as I’m concerned… growing up at school I would have loved to have talked about Wolves loosing to Chelsea in the Prem!

No one was going to moan about losing to Chelsea so why didn’t we just go for it. Instead we sat back again which looking at the Everton game everyone apart from Mick knows doesn’t work.

Yet again confusing team selections. After the QPR game I thought Mick learned his lesson about moving Ward and starting with Elokobi.

I know instead of playing our young hungry winger who hasn’t put a foot wrong since we signed him and can deliver deadly cross into the box the Fletch we’ll jeopardize our defence so we can play our striker come left back on the wing instead.

You might as well sell him Mick because clearly you have an issue with Hammill because that’s the only reason I can think of why you didn’t play him.

I bet you and Steve Bruce will both have your P45s pencilled up before next week because I’m sure one of you will be going.

He’s hopeless. A legend in his own mind. Clearly making him Captain has gone to his head because I think he genuinely thinks he’s a good player. I honestly think Berra is actually better than him.

Okay, what we need to do..

Wave goodbye to Elokobi, Henry, Johnson, Stearman, Milijas ,Gueidora,Ward in January and get some quality in ( unlikley, most good players wouldn’t come here now).

A few soundbites of common sense I hope!

Firstly, “I am not a happy clapper. I was born in Wolverhampton in 1947. I have seen good & bad times over many decades”

“We need to get behind the team – most of the posts I have read over the last 3 years have been decidedly against WWFC. This negativity mid season must cost us at least 10 points because it destroys the club’s morale”

“MM can only work within the budget given him by the board & those players willing to play for us. Given the vehement posting over the last 3 years, why would anyone want to join us?”

“I do not warm to MM – but I support him until he is replaced. Any replacement should be out of season and dependent on our Premier standing”

“The boo boys are destroying my club.”

I agree with all of your posting but sadly I have lost faith in MMs ability to re unite the club.

His not a bad manager and has always worked hard for WWFC in the face of constant swiping from some Numpties from day one (how many were singing super Mick on the pitch after promotion and again the last two seasons?).

MMs problem is that he is now part of the negativity, his seige mentality has become as devisive as the Numpties moan moan moan mentality.

The players were optimistic at the start of the season but MM talked about another relegation battle and undermined their spirit.

Johnson has obviously lost confidence through the Blues relegation and he wanted a fresh start at Wolves but is now faced with a season long relegation battle, he just needs to adjust and will be OK.

Just found time to quickly peruse the above comments. I notice that posts 42, 55, 57, 73 and 78 all share a common theme: Apathy. That’s bad, bad news, Wolves, because apathy is a real killer at any football club.

I’ve attended games for maybe 45 years but I see above that a couple of fans have a mammoth 60 and 63 years support behind them -which makes my stretch look pretty tame in comparison. So, when long-time fans such as these two people feel nothing but malaise toward their beloved club, Wolves really should take heed that the alarm bells are ringing loud and clear. Only a fool would not listen to disaffected voices such as these.
Wolves predictably won’t listen, though, if recent history under Morgan and Moxey is anything to go by.

Never mind, there’s always the Radio WM phone-in at 7pm tonight. It’s another chance to hear disgruntled Wolves fans venting their spleen, and understandably so, too. Should make for interesting listening. Let’s hope the 3M’s tune-in, too. It might wake ‘em up a bit.

Ye Olde South Bank ,like you I have supported the club for over 40 years and a season ticket holder for most of them(fond memories of The Doog ,Peter Knowles etc) but I am becoming more and more disenchanted with the club. For what it is worth, my anger is not directed at the players (as I feel they are genuinely doing their best, unfortunately they just arent good enough),but at the people at the top.I think Morgan is running the club for his own personal ends ,and when he saw the offer that was on the table from Sir Jack,as a businessman, saw it was an offer he could not refuse.
The final straw for me was the lack of investment made in the team this year. I could understand it in years 1 and 2 but not this season. When we got promoted we were told that it was impossible for the newly promoted teams to attract established premiership players and reluctantly I accepted this point of view. This season however QPR have blown that argument out of the water. Therefore I have come to the conclusion Morgan ,for whatever reason, is not prepared to commit the necessary funds to enable us to establish ourselves in the division ,and if that is the case ,then he should sell up and hand the club over to someone who will.

MM is stuck in a rut with his tactics and selection and he needs to shake it up or simply go. I dont actually think its about buying new players, its about using these ones better. Some of his first choices aren’t delivering and he hasnt got a Plan B. Johnson is not the answer. In fact, he has made so many mistakes this year its untrue. I also dont think Doyle is being played in the right role. He is rapidly looking like Emil Heskey – great tactical awareness and creating space deep and in wide areas but NO GOALS! Also, I dont care if Jarvis has quiet half-hours, he should always start. He’s the one guy who might go past a full back, as he showed last season. As for the first-choice back four, has there ever been a more lumbering defence? And Ward and Stearman at full-back are jokes as attacking forces, except from set pieces. MM is looking clueless . . . Still, there’s an even worse manager to face this weekend. Bet we end up with Bruce at Wolves.

I think we should adopt the way we were taught to play at school. The best form of defense is to attack. This would mean playing 4-3-3 Play Doyle wide right with Vokes and Fletcher up front . We need to get the ball across goal and have players to try and score. You cannot ever win by not scoring goals
I dont care how many goals the oposition score as long as we score more. The top teams in this league dont like being attacked so why do we keep letting them attack us. We employ a long ball game with nobody big enough to win the ball and even on the few times we do there is nobody there to capitalise on it.

#166 Lord Thor – excellent summary of an ugly situation. Unfortunately MM will not see it this way (as usual).

#173 Josh – I am sure you are behind WWFC all the way but on the one hand you defend MM and then pose many questions that MM really should have already answered on the playing field: Personally you query “what would happen if we changed manager and my answer was still got relegated as he would have to work a miracle and with this threadbare squad something that I do not think is possible”. If change is not made now relegation is highly likely with MM at the helm. The lack of motivation in performances is killing us. You are incorrect – Mick does NOT take a roasting for his teams shortcomings – the fans do (i.e., the numpties). If as you point out Johnson was not as good as we had why did MM make him his top priority? If the game is winnable on Sunday why go 4-5-1? Not a winnable formation against a very vulnerable team (then again are they more vulnerable than us?). I agree completely with you that Vokes has to be recalled for some aerial presence and that Danny Bath should be given a run. BUT MM will never do this. Think back to Liverpool and a promising debut at fullback …… never given another go!

The reason the media have learnt not to ask the ‘obvious questions’ is because of the arrogant, aggressive, intimidating, mocking, bullying responses they get from the man if they dare point out a few home truths. It’s much easier to keep it all nicey nicey as not to upset Rent-a-Quote!

199 bunghoolioo wolf. Best league in the world ! I don’t think so. It’s a great spectacle if you support one of the top sides otherwise very overrated. And overpriced. Don’t believe the hype.

i would rather play eleven players with the majority being young up and comming and still lose than be dragged through this every week
senior players supposedly with no confidence
they should try real work and wages and see how they feel then
MM gives more to children in need than i earn
good on him i say but goes to show they all have two much money to care not a lot of motivation when your loaded anyway

I have said this for a very long time that simply this manager isn’t good enough and his team along with after nearly 3 seasons in the premiership we have spent probably £50 million and this is the team we get. This is isn’t only ridiculous its an outrage as this team defensively and attacking wise are a joke where players such as hunt, henry, berra, foley and doyle just aren’t good enough along with dave edwards and most of the team. Only players I see as being good enough are o’hara guedioura fletcher jarvis and hammill because if they were played enough ie hammill milijas guedioura and fletcher they would be amazing. In addition with this mcarthy doesn’t know what his best team is after all this time of having the same team for a good few years and his tactics just don’t work because he is simply a good chamionship manager and nothing else. We want this club to build and be great like how wolves once were then this really isn’t the man for the job as every season it will be surviving relegation and do wolves fans really want that? Also does morgan really want it thats the question after spending millions for to make wolves a 40,000 seater stadium. How can we get 40,000 fans in when wolves are batt;ing at the bottom? What do the wolves board see as the point to sack him? Now? In 4 weeks? 6 weeks? If you ask me now is the time as this will give the new manager more time to sort out what rubbish is in our squad and give him enough time to clear out most of these average, mediocre, workhorse players.

Utterly dejected. Didn’t expect anything from Chelsea but to lose without a fight accompanied by non-league quality defending…

I was totally disenchanted after the losing streak. Because the Sunderland game was re-arranged we went to the Wigan match instead. I was briefly revived but after Everton and now Chelsea am starting to lose the will again…

We have gone backwards from a team that escaped by the skin of their teeth last season…

Funniest post on here is the one where Sir Billy Quiet is trying to wriggle out of admitting he didn’t know the match was on sunday. Winding people up who don’t go? Nah, you didn’t know when the match was.Hahahaha
