Adlene Guedioura today insisted defeat at Everton has given Wolves the motivation to shock Chelsea.

The Algeria international is hoping for a recall to Mick McCarthy’s line-up for the trip to Stamford Bridge tomorrow, with Jamie O’Hara suspended.

And despite missing the 2-1 reverse at Goodison, the powerful midfielder reckons Wolves are ready to produce a reaction.

Chelsea have lost four of their last seven games and have suffered back-to-back home defeats to Arsenal and Liverpool.

Wolves’ own setback at Everton has galvanised the players, according to Guedioura.

He said: “It’s not about confidence, it’s about reacting to the Everton game.

“We felt we deserved better than a defeat – a draw would have been fairer but we’re going to Chelsea with lots of motivation because we’re playing a top team.

“I think when you play a team like Chelsea, the motivation is already there. Chelsea are a top team but we’ll go there trying to get a positive result.

“Why not? They’ve lost their last two home games against Arsenal and Liverpool and lost in the Champions’ League this week, so you never know.

“We lost as well, but we want to do something there and we’ve worked hard this week to come up with something to make it difficult for them.”

Guedioura was dropped after just two Premier League games but is hoping for another chance to impress.

He said: “I’m ready to play. The gaffer makes his choice and, if he asks me to play, I will be ready. I wasn’t disappointed – it’s the gaffer’s choice and hopefully I’ll get back in the team soon.

“That’s why I have to compete for my place. That’s just a rule in football. I accept I have to work harder and be better if I am to keep my place.

“The gaffer decides whether we start or are on the bench and obviously I’d like to start games.

“Playing a tough game like Arsenal reserves on Tuesday night, hopefully I can stay right for the team and start the next match.”
