Mick McCarthy facing a dilemma over Jamie O’Hara

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy admits he faces a dilemma to replace the suspended Jamie O’Hara on Saturday.

McCarthy is forced into three changes for the weekend trip to Chelsea with ever-present midfielder O’Hara and winger Stephen Hunt banned after earning their fifth bookings in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Everton and Richard Stearman  – another to have started every Premier League game – out with a broken wrist. Nenad Milijas impressed the manager at Goodison Park, while McCarthy seems certain to persist with the 4-5-1 formation used recently.

Adlene Guedioura looks to be favourite for O’Hara’s role after he came through 90 minutes in last night’s reserves’ 0-0 draw against Arsenal, while Matt Jarvis is expected to slot into Hunt’s wide left position.

But McCarthy admits it will not be easy to find the right blend.

“Nenad played well on Saturday, but I’m still trying to find the solutions that work best,” said the boss. “Jamie had just scored three goals in four games prior to last Saturday and he’s very good at that role. He’s as good a finisher as anyone here and it suits us playing with that extra midfield player. It makes us harder to beat and harder to play against and Jamie does his bit for the team as well.”
