Wolves striker Kevin Doyle would love to face England with Ireland

Wolves striker Kevin Doyle insists he would love to face England with the Republic of Ireland in Euro 2012 – but in the later stages of the competition.
Doyle is in dreamland after helping Ireland reach their first major finals since the 2002 World Cup, following the second leg of the 5-1 aggregate play-off win against Estonia.
The teams haven’t met since 1995, when a clash in Dublin was abandoned because of crowd trouble.
But with England drawn in pot two and the Irish in pot four, there is every chance the teams will have to meet each other in the group stages in Poland and Ukraine next summer, pitting rival Italian bosses Fabio Capello and Giovanni Trapattoni against each other.
The draw is on December 2 and Doyle would relish the opportunity to face the Three Lions for the first time.
He said: “I have only ever watched Ireland play England. In my six years in the squad, we’ve never played England. Watching as a kid, Ireland always did well but I’d prefer it to be a quarter-final rather than group stage.”
