Wolves boss Mick McCarthy plans to turn Karl Henry into goal creator
Monday 14th November 2011, 2:00PM GMT.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy today revealed how the team are trying to turn enforcer Karl Henry into a goal creator.
The midfield anchorman has proved this season he can also get forward to good effect, with assists for DavidEdwards’ goal in the 3-1 win against Wigan and shots saved in the home games against Swansea and Tottenham.
But the 28-year-old has notched just seven times in 210 games in all competitions for Wolves, his last strike coming 55 matches ago in a 3-1 FA Cup replay defeat at Crystal Palace in February 2010.
Henry has gone 119 league outings without netting, his last-minute winner at Charlton in March 2008 being his last one.
But boss McCarthy said the Wolverhampton-born midfielder is working on becoming more of a goal threat.
The manager said: “He’s trying his best to be more offensive and he has been He puts a lot of emphasis on doing his other stuff as well and works so hard. So it would be nice for him to get a couple of goals.”
