Matt Murray gives helping hand to former Wolves team-mate Mark Clyde

Former Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray has taken the next step on the coaching ladder after being appointed to take charge of Bridgnorth Town’s goalkeepers.

The 30-year-old, who was forced to retire in August 2010, has agreed to help out his former Wolves team-mate and now Bridgnorth boss Mark Clyde at Crown Meadow as part of his bid to become a coach.

Clyde, who revealed Murray may be in the Bridgnorth dug-out on the occasional matchday in the near future, said: “Matt’s coming down to work with the goalkeepers and that’s great news for us.”

Murray and Clyde have plenty in common – both were products of the Wolves academy, were part of the 2002-03 promotion-winning squad, and appeared in the Premier League the following season.

Clyde said: “We got talking at his testimonial dinner and he said if ever I need to any help just to get in touch. I gave him a shout a couple of weeks ago and he’s been to a couple of training sessions.”
