Richard Stearman backs Wolves to survive on Manchester City display
Tuesday 1st November 2011, 2:00PM GMT.
Richard Stearman insists Wolves will avoid a survival scrap if they play as they did at Manchester City.
Mick McCarthy’s side went down 3-1 to the Premier League leaders as their poor run continued with just two points from the last 24 on offer.
Wolves host rock-bottom Wigan on Sunday but defender Stearman believes they showed enough in their determined display at the Etihad Stadium to push on up the table rather than be fighting relegation.
He said: “If we play like that for the rest of the season, we’ll be fine – we’ll pick up points playing like that. We were playing the top team in the Premier League and we took them right to the wire.
“Their squad certainly cost a lot more than ours but that’s us, that’s Wolves, and that’s how we’re going to continue to play for the rest of the season.”
