Wolves boss Mick McCarthy admits Wigan clash at Molineux is ‘huge’
Monday 31st October 2011, 3:00PM GMT.
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy today admitted potentially pivotal clash against rock bottom Wigan on Sunday was “huge” and one they “need to take care of.”
The two worst teams in the Premier League on current form collide at Molineux this weekend as McCarthy’s Wolves, with six defeats in their last seven in the Premier League, host the Latics, who have lost seven in a row.
Roberto Martinez’s side will also be without ever-present centre-back Gary Caldwell, who serves a one-match ban after accumulating five bookings.
The two teams fought a season-long battle against the drop last campaign when Wigan achieved the double over Wolves and both stayed up on the last day.
McCarthy said: “Clearly everybody knows Wolves versus Wigan is a huge game. Sunday’s clearly one we need to take care of. We know how big a game Wigan is and we’ll look after that this week.”
