Jamie O’Hara: Wolves will fight on for Mick McCarthy
Thursday 27th October 2011, 1:00PM BST.
Jamie O’Hara today vowed Wolves will fight to end their slump for boss Mick McCarthy – because the manager deserves their total support.
The midfielder backed the under-fire boss and insisted the players will not desert him after last night’s 5-2 Carling Cup home defeat by lethal Manchester City.
It left Wolves with just one win in nine games but, after McCarthy suffered a fans’ backlash during the 2-2 Premier League draw with Swansea on Saturday, O’Hara wants to ease the pressure.
“One win can shoot you up the table, we’ve got some big home games coming up (Wigan and Sunderland) and we’ll be looking to perform for the manager,” he said, with Wolves 16th in the top flight.
“The fans are frustrated and they want the team to be doing better but, looking at the table, there are still a lot of clubs on single-figure points. It’s a little harsh to get the sort of reception the manager got at the weekend.”
