Jody Craddock can empathise with Wolves fans after watching England
Wednesday 26th October 2011, 2:00PM BST.
Wolves defender Jody Craddock admits he never understood the mentality of the Molineux boo-boys – until he watched England’s feeble 2010 World Cup challenge.
Craddock, whose calming influence is set to be restored to the starting line-up for tonight’s Carling Cup tie at home to Manchester City, knows all about facing the flak when things aren’t going well for his team.
The 36-year-old veteran of eight eventful years is now one of the most respected figures on the Molineux staff but can remember days when he too came in for the ‘treatment’ from Molineux’s hard-to-please brigade.
But, as Wolves prepare to step back in front of their public for the first time since Saturday’s vitrolic 2-2 draw against Swansea, Craddock remembers getting a taste of their frustrations as England toiled in South Africa.
He said: “I was the same as everybody else, screaming at the TV in frustration. It dawned on me how you are so desperate for your team to do well that, when things aren’t going well, you can’t control your frustrations.”
