Roger Johnson tells ‘nothing-to-lose’ Wolves to take advantage
Tuesday 25th October 2011, 11:00AM BST.
Wolves captain Roger Johnson is urging his under-fire team to take advantage of this week’s nothing-to-lose Manchester City double-header.
Mick McCarthy’s men are back in the Molineux firing line tomorrow night, in what is expected to be a battle of the shadow squads in the Carling Cup fourth round.
Then comes possibly one of the toughest assignments in world club football, outside of the Nou Camp, with the Premier League clash at Eastlands three days later.
With the bitter atmosphere of Saturday’s Molineux clash with Swansra threatening to set the agenda of a suddenly troubled campaign, Johnson sees an opportunity for Wolves to regain some favour.
He said: “If we can get through the Carling Cup OK, that would be good. But the Premier League is our main priority. We’ll probably end up going there and getting a positive result – that’s football.”

Does Roger ever speak to anyone else other than the press ….
… has he got no friends or sumfink???

Nothing to lose? Your out of your mind.
There are 6 points to win here!
Maybe if you changed your mindset from a loser to a winner you will see that, there are no easy games and every game is winnable.
Roger, message from the fans, stop your incoherent ramlings and just play football!

Oh Roger try and concentrate on not falling over all the time, and please stop staggering all over the place, I dont keep falling over when I am at work.Thats if you are not dropped of course.

ha ha roger you should consider yourself for a career in stand-up!

Best to get the result first then brag about it or you could end up sounding stupid!

Well it’s no good talking to the boo boys, and your comment shows the reason why – there’s one in every village!

well before I wrote I was answering number one, but whoe and behold the other village idiots rolled out.
Wonder if they along with the other boo boys will be there on Wednesday night! I will, but there again I’m no boo boy.

I think we ought to rename him Roger the Dodger.
He dodges responsibilty as a captain, in tackles, in fact everything. Anyone know why we bought him in the first place????

On 28/12/09 they beat us 3-0 at the Mol. Stats were very equal on all indicators, except they put their shots away.

2… Wolfy in Disguise
How on earth can you get 6 points from a cup game and a league game??? Nice to know that some people on here know so much about football!!
Johnson should stop talking to the press and let his football do the talking!! Take a look at yoursefl in the mirror and show some leadership on the pitch!!
If Man City put out their 1968 Title winning team we still wouldn’t beat that bunch of pensioners. Franny Lee would still turn Johnson inside out now.
If Johnson spent as much time concentrating on his positional play as he did talking to the press, he would be a world beater.
Wolfy in Diguise obviously a south banker if he thinks 6pts are up for grabs from the Man City double-header.

I understand that the club obviously has some contractual agreement with the e & s for the captain to do so many interviews each week but, under present circumstances, could they be best advised to say he’s ill or something and send someone else in his place?! That said, this is the same RJ that after 3 games US Wolves fans were saying could be the best signing this club has made for years. The day he was made captain, this board was full of comments saying what an inspirational choice it was and how he was perfect captain material. Won his balls, vocal, commanding, organising, inspiring….. I refuse to accept he has become abysmal overnight. Come on RJ, prove this unbelievably fickle bunch wrong!

You’ve got to give it to roger, he’s a glass half full man, full of optimism. Onwards & Upwards!!

I am going to both games and TBH anyone who is normal wont expect anything other than a reverse in both games!!
However if we have nothing to lose well lets change it then how about Matt Dougherty to right back, Stearman in at Centre half Guideara in at centre midfield Zellie Ishmail at left wing? And I am not just talking about the cup tie.
The last 6 games the systems and formation of personnel hasnt come good lets try something else??
Commeth the hour……

Seems our Roger is highly opinionated and likes to air his opinons abit too much. Your alienating yourself against the hardworking fans who have every right to express how they feel about the manager and the underperforming players. You aint proved yourself yet mate, 40 grand week? You lot don’t know your born!

To all those who think football is more than a sport and we support our team then there is no hope.
The guys have been going through the mill and we should back them until the final whistle blows, I must admit I was shocked at Hammil being taken off but by hook or by crook the plan worked, if they had anymore confidence we may have even won it.
As for Man City? tough but as stated its football, anyone bet on QPR and Norwich this weekend?
Good luck to the boys this week

Well last six games it’s been a nothing to play for by the way they have performed…
Just get on with it Johnson and stop giving away easy goals and do the job you are well paid for!!

We have everything to lose , two potential hammerings will dent confidence even further , I wish he would just shut up and let his football do the talking!

roger johnson 40 grand a week to do wot? play football no bounce around a football pitch like some ballarina, talk to the press evryday about wot? the guy has turned into a muppet, when the guy gets his head down a plays football he is a superb player but the last how many games he has lost the plot! i am 1 of few wolves fans that still supports mcarthy but at the endof the day he HAS to drop henry for millijas henry is not a premier league player he is a half decent championship player!! waste of space!!!!

8. John Wolf – Village ideots?, I would look closer to home. i am getting sick of the term boo boys. Prof. footballers should be able to play through a few negative comments. I have watched them for 25 years and they definately deserve to be criticised at the moment. Thet are taking the Michael out of the everyday hardworking guy going to watch them.
We have always lacked quality but our lads have always put in a shift! now that has stopped what are we left with?
Championship defence, very average midfield and few out and out goalscorers.
The idea of nothing to lose is a joke, people are travelling to games and are expected to pay for a load of rubbish.
Morgan and moxey should be refunding money it is that bad, other clubs take this policy.
So frustrating.

Am I the only Wolves fan who finds it difficult to understand the demise of SEB.
This guy used to score for fun in the championship but the more I see him play in the premiere I just can’t see him scoring.
I guess if you don’t have pace you will suffer at the top level. Pity as I like him a lot.
We need a new striker to spark some life upfront. There is only so much Doyle can do on his own.

NOTHING TO LOSE? except our hard earned money to watch you play.. you are our weakest link, goodbye.

Wow how many idiots can u get on one site? Roger is trying to be positive, which isnt bad considering non of you so called ‘fans’ are positive! Fans alone are gonna ruin our great club cause no1′s gonna wanna come cause they all get abused unless were fighting for champions league spot! Were one of the top 20 clubs in England and all you lot can do is be negative about EVERYTHING! Get a grip you fickle moronic fans before its too late.

The vitriol aimed at one of our players by some of you is stunning. You seem to be enjoying it too. I suppose Johnson is taking he pressure off others like Henry and Ward. Have you forgotton that these two are both rubbish and really deserve some of your attention too. Come on lads, surely you can multitask ask slag off more than one player at a time. With the confidence of the players (and fans) at a serious low this is really not helping but as the lunatics have now taken over the assylum it’s difficult to know where we go from here. You will obviously say that Mick should listen to the fans. Well he’s never done that I really wouldn’t want him to be basing his decisions on any of us. Just remember he stood up to the whole of the Irish nation in 2002 when he sent their favourite, Roy Keane, home from the World Cup. He’s hardly going to stop being his own man now is he. The progress we’ve made over the last 5 years is there for us to see. There’s still, and always will be lot’s to do, but Johnson is right when he says that Molineus is a hostile place for the players at the moment – it’s a fact. If you think that will help their confidence then I don’t know what planet you’re on. If you want to guarantee Chapionship football next season then you’re going about it the right way. The players and manager need all the backing we can give them at the moment.
I’d say this about any Wolves’ player – if an E&S reporter asks you a question, of course you answer. If you don’t, then it becomes “player refuses to speak to press”. Then , you know what the usual critics will come on here and say. In other words, speak and you’re damned: don’t speak and you’re also damned. It’s a “can’t win situation” at the moment. As captain, Johnson is expected to talk to the press.
I WOULDN’T MIND him talking to the press if what he said was sensible.
Do you all believe what is said in the press for gods sake, the poor bloke probably only coughed & a journo probably jotted it down, be positive Roger thats it son its not your fault Mick signed you and Wolves fans have no one else to slate now that Ward Henry & Doyle have turned a corner the lot of you wana get yourselves to the Bescot then you can moan no offence to Walsall ;-)

Post 29 makes the point brilliantly – is the skipper of the team expected to tell the press “we’re doomed, there is nothing positive at the moment?”

I meant post 31 – oops!

It seems that from some of the posts above Rogers positive comments are like pearls among swine.
